In today’s episode we focus on Dana’s journey: leaving her profession as an educator to pursue art-making full-time. Being a high school art teacher was hard, but being a solopreneur is even harder.
Here’s some topics covered:
Exploring the realities of teaching: what makes a good teacher?
Factors that led me to leave education.
Life after education: applying for 20+ jobs.
Quarter life crisis at 26.
My plan for solopreneurship.
Reliability of God vs. people.
Surviving financial droughts.
A time to pray, and a time to move.
Occupational identity crises: what now?
Consumers of integrity: how to support small businesses.
Trusting God while in survival mode. While we recognize the system of education has much to improve upon for the sake of students and teachers alike, we will always value the work, dedication, and sacrifices of educators and school leadership.
We also know that God will take us on unique journeys through different seasons that don’t make sense in the moment. However, it’s not our job to know, it’s to trust and be obedient to Him who does.
