We begin our second season with a two part episode on the “Junkosphere” which explores bricolage as practiced  by Nicola Hawkins and her “all purpose collaborator Andy Perlis”. The Junkosphere refers to a planet Nicola imagined, created and displayed with other mixed media works at the art gallery in The Rooms in St. John’s. These two bricoleurs combined their skills to create a topical, politically  astute and visually stunning  exhibition about the state of our planet. Clarence Haeusler, a brilliant bricoleur from Lake Lenore, Saskatchewan, created one of a kind ‘wheels within wheels’ bicycles using discarded parts . He also constructed bicycles designed to ride on inactive railroad lines. We interview our friend Maury Wrubleski knew Clarence and his artful work very well.  This multifaceted installation began as a desire to repair damaged chairs by adding anatomically correct body parts to the missing or broken parts, ie,. a leg for a leg, arm for an arm, etc. From there it grew into something entirely different.
