  • Expounding the Word - Mark 1:32-45 Part 2

Are you a night owl or an early bird? I’m not going to say one is better than the other, but it’s obvious that Jesus was definitely a bit of both! Now perhaps it’s not fair to compare to Him, seeing He’s perfect and we’re not, but that said, there’s a lot to learn from His example! Today, Pastor Chris teaches through Mark chapter 1 about the importance of setting aside quiet time with the Lord. Perhaps it’s worth going to bed a little earlier, so you can get up & spend an extra few minutes with God in the morning!

  • Living on the Edge with Chip Ingram Daily Podcast - The Real God - The Sovereignty of God, Part 1

Who says the God of the Bible is better than any other god? Are there really any major differences between all religions? Chip explores the answer to these questions.

Question: What makes you think your god is better than everyone else’s god?

    Answer: The God I worship:

    • is before ALL
    • created ALL
    • upholds ALL
    • is above ALL
    • knows ALL
    • can do ALL
    • accomplishes ALL
    • rules over ALL
    • is in control of ALL

How must we respond to the sovereign God?

    1. BOW before the King of the universe. -Phil 2:9-11
    2. BELIEVE all that comes into your life is either allowed or decreed by a good God who will use it for your benefit. -Rom8:28-29, Gen 50:20
    3. BEHOLD in awe the mystery and majesty of His kind, compassionate, just, and sovereign rule of all that is or will ever be. -Rom 11:33-36, Gen 50:20

How does God reveal His sovereignty to us? Through:

    • His TITLES
    • His PROMISES
    • PROPHECY
    • CHRIST
    • REDEEMING PAIN in our lives

  • Expounding the Word - Mark 1:21-32 Part 1

Whether it’s work, sports, or a school decathlon, there’s a catchphrase I’m sure you’ve heard - “Teamwork makes the dream work!” Today in Mark chapter 1, Pastor Chris gives us an up-close look at the team Jesus is building around him. While others may have doubted His picks thus far – mostly a bunch of fishermen from Galilee – no one could argue the results! Come along on this journey and see how Jesus takes this ragtag group of men and builds them into the “dream team” of the early church!

  • Living on the Edge with Chip Ingram Daily Podcast - The Real God - The Goodness of God, Part 2

In this message, Chip lays out four very specific ways God reveals His goodness and how you can be sure not to miss out on any of it.

    Defining the goodness of God

-Revealed to Moses: (Exodus 33:19; 34:5-7)

    • Moses’ request: “Show me Your glory.” -Exodus 33:18
    • God’s promise: “All My goodness will pass before you.” -Exodus 33:19
    • God’s answer: Exodus 34:5-7

    -Packer’s observation:

    • “Within the cluster of God’s moral perfections there is one in particular to which the term ‘goodness’ points – the quality which God specially singled out from the whole when proclaiming ‘all his goodness’ to Moses, He spoke of Himself as ‘abundant in goodness and truth’ (Exodus 34:6). This is the quality of generosity.”
    • “Generosity expresses the simple wish that others should have what they need to make them happy.” -J.I. Packer, Knowing God

    -Tozer’s definition:

    • “The goodness of God is that which disposes Him to be kind, cordial, benevolent, and full of good will toward men. He is tenderhearted and of quick sympathy… By His nature He is inclined to bestow blessedness and He takes holy pleasure in the happiness of His people.” -A.W. Tozer, Knowledge of the Holy

    -Scripture’s declaration: Psalm 84:11

How does God reveal His goodness to us?

    1. Through NATURAL blessings -Psalm 145:7-9, 16-17
    2. Through SPECIFIC deliverances -Psalm 107
    3. Through HIS SON, Jesus -Romans 5:8; 8:32

How are we to respond to God’s goodness?

    1. REPENT and receive God’s greatest good gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. -Romans 2:4
    2. SURRENDER your life and future fully to the lordship of Christ. -Romans 12:1
    3. CLAIM God’s promise that you will NEVER miss out on any good thing as long as you live. -Psalm 84:11

  • Expounding the Word - Mark 1:16-20 Part 2

I despise my alarm clock. I frequently find myself hitting snooze, waiting an extra five minutes, and trying to wring the last bit of warmth from my bed before rising for the day. I’m reluctant to leave the comfort of the place I am in. However, the book of Mark shows us that Jesus' disciples did not hesitate to follow Him. They were not reluctant. They didn’t hit the snooze button and ask Jesus for five minutes. Join Pastor Chris today as he teaches on the importance of following Jesus when He calls us.
