This podcast series is a continuation of a short series I began in high school, where I talked with various student broadcasters about their experiences getting into this industry and if they intended to continue broadcasting after high school. Now that I’ve spent a year at UNL and seen firsthand the relationships between on-air and behind-the-scenes talent, I wanted to showcase the people that you almost never see or hear from during a broadcast, yet they play a crucial role in the execution of a successful broadcast. In this episode, I sat down with Brenden Evers and Josh Carlson, both of whom work for HuskerVision: a student-led broadcasting organization operating out of the University of Nebraska’s athletic department. We discuss various topics and dive deep into what exactly HuskerVision is and its job at every Husker athletic event, common misconceptions about HuskerVision, the jobs that Brenden and Josh currently hold this fall within HuskerVision and the skills and mindset it takes to work in the chaotic and often stressful environment of live sports broadcasting.
