The darkness of sin lives inside of us. And apart from Christ, that sin causes our death. There is no amount of good works that can save your soul. Our only hope is to believe and trust in Jesus. The Gospel of John was written so that we could know and see that Jesus is God—and have life in Him. 

Our sin demands death, but the curse of sin is removed in Jesus. In John, we see Jesus handing Himself over to be crucified. He gave Himself up knowing everything that would happen to Him.  Jesus alone bore the weight of our sin. He who knew no sin, but became sin for you.  For the joy of saving you, He crushed Satan and provided a perfect righteousness for us. 

The Son of Man had to be lifted up so people could see him more clearly. Jesus is the Lamb of God and he offers us something eternally better than anything else. He made you and He loves you. Don’t ignore the Light.
