People are emotional by nature. We all pay the most attention to what we fear or hope is true in the world. No amount of knowledge about how YouTube or Instagram rank posts is going to make you good at making the type of content that exploits this reality for you and your audience's benefit.
Remember high-school exams? You'd cram for days, pass the test, and then forget everything you just learned. That was the 'trick' to getting good grades.
Unfortunately, many of you still use that 'gaming the system' approach to your work in the real world.
Those types of tactics may work on standardized tests. But, they never work to get people's attention.
So, are the social media algorithms important? Absolutely! But knowing them will not automatically make you a more compelling speaker or writer.
Spend 95% of your time learning how to connect with humans and 5% learning the tips and tricks to get your message in front of them.
