Today, Myko shared how she learned that it was vitally important that she start taking better care of herself. As entrepreneurs, most of us are highly conscientious, so we are willing to sacrifice greatly for the good of our families, communities, and customers.
But, it can go too far. Sometimes we become obsessed with helping others because we don't want to face our own pain. While this may seem like selflessness, it's actually quite selfish because you cannot truly help others if you aren't right.
We share stories to help illustrate how we got here and share 3 important tools you can use today to start taking better care of yourself, your community, and your business.
When I'm coaching freelancers and entrepreneurs, one of the major areas we focus on is mindfulness. Being able to live, think, and be in the moment is so important when it comes to success.
In this podcast, I talk about a conversation I had with my son about enjoying the moments in life. He often times gets so focused on what he fears in the future that he misses the bliss in the now.
We'll talk about how to apply this truth to your business.
I thank God regularly for bringing Tony into my life as a friend, brother, and now business partner.
He brings skills and perspectives to our lives and work that I would not have without him.
In this podcast, we'll show you just how important we are to one another and why you must find your Tony or your Bryant for your business!
Enjoy warriors!
Your brain has default settings wired to keep you from success if used improperly.
One, in particular, is heuristics. Your brain's defense system against wasting energy.
Imagine for a second that I just told you that there is no such thing as a racist or sexist word in the English language. I imagine most people reading this went immediately to words you know to try and argue the point.
But, the more important point is that these words are only offensive because of the story you tell yourself when you hear them.
Now think about how this one-dimensional thinking could be applied to other areas of your life and business. Could you imagine making snap judgments about a client or an opportunity without more information? Could you then imagine how that might hurt your business?
We have to be rid of this one-dimensional thinking if we want to win big!
Have you ever heard the losing mantra, "money can't buy happiness?"
Certainly just having money does not automatically make one happy in the long term. But, money can certainly give you options to pursue things that do bring happiness to your life.
Get these manipulative mantras out of your head about money.
I want you to understand the difference between not accomplishing something and not being able to accomplish something.
The best hitters in baseball hit the ball around 30% of the time. That means the best in the business miss 70% of their attempts.
What makes you think you are a failure because you are not hitting 100%?
Take advantage of every opportunity you have to succeed. Never in our human history have we lived in a time where we have access to so many resources and outlets to share our message and change the world.
In this podcast, I speak with my son about civil rights, war, and why it is so important to approach live with a winning attitude.
You think you are not pursuing your dreams because you are afraid to fail. That's a lie. Failure does not exist.
And I can promise you this. The thing you really are afraid of (rejection, humiliation, losing) is not actually failure. It's a part of your process. And I can tell you from experience. Experiencing all of those pains hurts way less than wishing you had tried something once you are too old to pursue.
Failure does not exist. There is only actions, results, and progress. Be encouraged my friend!
We covered all types of topics today. From how important it is to live in the moment to politics to how we believe America might look in the next 100 years.
The bottom line is that we need to eradicate fear from our lives. We need to operate with more love and compassion for one another than ever before.
Myko and I share why we are very grateful for the time we spent in jobs we hated.
If you are smart (and I believe you are) you will use the time working jobs you hate to develop a deeper sense of personal and professional self-awareness.
I was very glad to learn that I don't belong doing administrative work or sitting behind a desk. It's why everything I've done in business focused on working with people.
Myko learned the lesson of not allowing herself to get overworked. She has such a big servant's heart, that she can tend to go too far.
