What is it like to run a business with your spouse or partner?

Well the answer depends on the couple, some will come together and play off each others strengths and some... may find different outcomes.

Jane and I talk about a variety of topics but the major theme here is how we started the business as what felt like a hobby or a continuation of a job and when we had a bad summer season decided to start taking things more seriously and learn to run a real business.

Most gym owners know if they want more members and are serious about growth, they need to learn how to market or hire a marketing agency.

A lot of gym owners have also been burned by bad marketing agencies and may want to give it a shot on their own.

It took me a few years of running my gym to figure it out in general, then each year I would continue to improve different parts of the business.

But I wish I had known some things earlier and put them to work. Things like the importance of business structure, staffing, sales process, marketing etc.

I hope you can learn from some of these mistakes, avoid them, and make your gym more profitable in half the time!
