    Lanny served in Delta Company, 5/7, 1st Air Cavalry Regiment with the United States Army from June 1969 to June 1970 in Vietnam. After watching Ken Burns' recent 10-part documentary series on the Vietnam War, Brian wanted to sit down with Lanny to hear what Vietnam was like from his perspective.
    Lanny later attended St. Paul Bible College (now Crown College) and Iowa State University. He later retired from the Iowa Department of Transportation and now raises cattle on his family farm in Boone County.

    U.S. Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) addressed #MeToo movement in light of judicial nominations and how the Senate is not in a good place. 
    Plus, U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) said the Senate Judiciary Committee and the FBI did not look for corroboration of claims made against Kavanaugh.
    Then, Shane has a conversation with Jake Porter, the Libertarian Party nominee for Governor of Iowa. He explains why he is running, why you should vote for him, and why he should be allowed to debate.

  • Episode 61: Weighing the Kavanaugh Accusations
    For this episode of the Caffeinated Thoughts Podcast, our host Shane Vander Hart provides an update on the status of Judge Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court and weighs the different allegations made against him.
    Shane discusses the current FBI investigation, what Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), President Donald Trump, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) had to say about it. Will the investigation be comprehensive or is it a 'farce" as some Democrats claim?
    Also, now it seems as though Democrats want to derail Kavanaugh's confirmation because they believe he lied about his drinking in high school and college. 
    The FBI has not committed to speaking with Kavanaugh's third accuser, Julie Swetnick. She has a questionable background which puts her credibility into question and provides some interesting information during an interview with NBC News that Shane discusses.

    Here is a little about Michele's background. She was an undercover officer in the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency’s Directorate of Operations. Trained as a counterterrorism specialist, Michele served her country for ten years, working in Iraq and other secret Middle Eastern locations.
    Upon retirement from active service, Michele and her husband Joseph, who is also a former agent, joined a group of Americans who wished to aid persecuted Christians. Their efforts resulted in the evacuation of a group from northern Iraq featured on ABC’s 20/20 in December 2015.
    Michele holds a master’s degree in Contemporary Arab Studies from Georgetown University. Today she serves as an international security consultant, splitting her time between the Middle East, Florida, and Washington, D.C.

Davis, retired from the United States Army after 21 years of active service, which included four deployments into combat zones— twice to Iraq and twice to Afghanistan, as well as, serving as a U.S. advisor to the Second Republic of Korea Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor at the Battle of 73 Easting during the First Gulf War in 1991 and was awarded a second Bronze Star Medal for service in Afghanistan in 2011.
