The Carolina Storyteller is back for 2025 and ready to tell the stories like never before. The week we're talking about Josiah Walls,  a slave once forced to work for the Confederate army, Josiah went on to be a military hero,  and United States Senator, and a great Educator.  Josiah also worked with the 54th Massachusetts Infantry when the regiment joined Josiahs and other to spearhead an attack on Fort Wagner in attempt to take Charleston SC.

Edward Teach was a massive man and when he took to the seas he became a legend know to all from the Carolinas to the Caribbean as Blackbeard. His reign of terror ended when the English Governor of Virginia ordered Captain John Maynard to hunt him down and kill him. Their battle was waged off the coast of North Carolina and is legend is true, Blackbeard fell to Maynard's sword and has since haunted the area.

Legend has it that a ship with flaming sails can be seen off the coast of Ocracoke Island near Cape Hatteras North Carolina. Is it a trick of the light, or is a ship of damn souls seeking revenge. Tonight's tale is of the greedy captain and crew of that ship, and the innocent passengers who suffered at their hands only to return from hell to seek vengeance.

Hollywood has its share of macabre tales but these films and families suffered such strange and deadly occurrences that they are infamous as the cursed films of Hollywood. This episode covers what happened to make these films so notorious and you won't believe who or what makes the list.

Major shout out to Adrian Nina who gave me the idea to research this great story. The Fighting Lady (CV-10) U.S.S. Yorktown served in the Pacific theater from 1943 to 1970. It has sat in Charleston Harbour since 1975 in its new mission as a Naval Museum. You can visit her by simply going to Patriot's Point in Mount Pleasant and taking a tour, but there are somethings about this majestic ship you won't see on just any tour.

The history of South Carolina has tragedy and horror beyond what most realize. In the small community of Lambertown stands a tree that once served a terrible purpose. It is the old hanging tree, and though the limb that once stretched across road has been removed it's memory remains.

The self obsessed British Captain Archie Campbell earned his moniker Mad Archie Campbell for his penchant for rash actions. However his idea of a wedding proposal may be madder than a hatter, if you know what I mean.
