The Cast Patrol

It's the final Rugby League episode of the year as we pack it up for Season 2024! We break down the latest NRL off-season signings and player movements, from key names like Clint Gutherson and Braydon Trindall, and speculate on where Ben Hunt might land—will it be the beaches of Bondi or the Gold Coast?

We recap the Pacific Championships, highlighting top performers, surprise packets and some of the tournament's biggest letdowns whilst debating on this year’s Golden Boot winner. Then, we shift gears for our Spring Horse Racing review, looking back at the Spring Carnival highlights, where Jimmy ranks his top five horses in Australia.

This week, we sit down with Luke Metcalf, New Zealand Warriors electrifying 5/8 for a special guest episode. We dive deep into Luke's journey through the ranks of Rugby League, from his early days at Coffs Harbour to playing first grade with Cronulla Sharks. He opens up about the challenges he's faced in his career, including long-term injuries from torn ACLs, fractured legs and hamstring issues that have tested his resilience both mentally and physically.

In 2023, Luke made a significant move across the Tasman to join the Warriors as he shares the cultural shifts and experiences between playing in Australia versus New Zealand. Luke shares what it’s like to play alongside his childhood idol Shaun Johnson and how big Shaun has been for his own playing style.
