DEFUNDING THE POLICE MAY HAVE NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES

Hello this is Darrell Castle with today’s Castle Report. Today is Friday July 3, 2020 the day before the 4th of July when in years past we have celebrated our nation’s founding. My office is closed today in honor of Independence Day, but I maintain my lonely vigil high atop the streets of my city. I will be talking about the movement to defund the police in many of our progressive Democrat cities and some of the consequences that are developing from that movement. For the Castle Family everything is just fine as we struggle on against the effects of the virus. The family daughter still stuck but safe thousands of miles away.

In honor of the 4th I will make this a little shorter today, but I need to say a few words about big city police forces and what is happening to them as they go out each day to face the most violent and relentless people among us.

My observation after more than 40 years of working within the legal system in my city of Memphis, Tennessee as well as other cities around the country is that the authority figures from judges to mayors want and need the support of the police forces in their city. They always have, at least until now, given the police the benefit of the doubt.

The killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis changed that perspective and city leaders in Democrat cities across the country, perhaps caught up in the moment, began to speak out against the police. People were and are upset, not with individual officers but the police in general. Calls to defund them in many places and calls for disbanding them in others became the order of the day. Police morale plummeted as the officers began to feel the city and people, they risked their lives to protect, turning their backs on them. Many officers across the country felt like they were being held responsible for what four officers in Minneapolis had done.

Since this whole movement started in Minneapolis let’s look at that city first. After the George Floyd killing, the city council voted 9 to 0 to completely abolish the city’s police department. The vote will require a referendum on the ballot for popular vote in November, but such a vote must have been devastating for police morale. The council quickly voted to fund a private security force for themselves at a cost of $4500 per day each. They deliver the chaos to others through their grandstanding, but sure don’t want to be subject to it themselves. The officers repeatedly expressed the view that they had been abandoned by the city and its people. Those veteran officers eligible for early retirement went ahead and retired and many others just resigned.

The president of the police union offered to resign but the officers convinced him not to. The executive director of the Minnesota police association said “Leadership really needs to turn and luck in the mirror. At the state level, at the city level, nobody’s doing that right now.” The result was that the murder rate in Minneapolis skyrocketed virtually overnight. With police not answering calls or at least very few calls the people of Minneapolis apparently decided to amuse themselves by killing each other.

Out in Seattle the summer of love turned into the summer of murder, rape, and robbery much to the chagrin of Mayor Jenny Durkin. She finally ordered the police force to dismantle the foreign country established in the middle of her city. She makes the mess and her much maligned police force clean it up.

In New York City mayor De Blasio always has his ear to the ground listening for the rumbles of warnings of evolving progressive agenda items. He came under pressure to defund the police and on his own authority the NYC police are now absent about one billion dollars in funding. The immediate result was that more than 100 people were shot in NYC last week. How many of them died, its hard to know for sure but it looks like about 15? Twelve more people were shot last Tuesday night which is the last day I could find any numbers. Many officers resigned and hundreds took early retirement from the NYPD.

In Atlanta we find the same story with a slightly different twist. You are probably all familiar with the police shooting outside an Atlanta Wendy’s. That officer was charged with murder before the investigation was complete. Atlanta has a black mayor, a black police chief, and 60% of the Atlanta police force is black. These officers were adamant that the city leadership and the people no longer had their backs, so they just stopped answering calls. The only calls being responded to were calls where an officer was in trouble or needed help. In other words, they responded to defend their own but not the population. The result of the refusal to answer calls was that from 6 pm Friday the 26th until midnight Sunday, just one weekend, 17 people were killed on the streets of Atlanta.

In Los Angeles police morale is reportedly at an all-time low especially among the rank and file on patrol. According to Breitbart News they feel abandoned by the mayor, all but three of the city council members, as well as the business owners and residents of the city. Mayor Eric Garcetti announced at the height of the riots in June, that he was cutting $150 million from the police budget. Officers are resigning and taking early retirement when it is available and as a result violent crime is increasing.

There is no proactive police work to prevent crime now, only efforts to clean up the mess it leaves behind. Recruiting is down and resignations are up so the police are helping the city defund them. The Hollywood set may get what they want eventually then we will see how they like it. I forget though, they are insulated from the chaos they inflicted on others because of their gates, walls, and most importantly armed guards.

St. Louis Missouri appears to be another out of control racial conflict zone. A few nights ago, a group of people went down to the St. Louis cathedral which has a statue of Louis ix for which the city was named to pray for the city and the cathedral. They were assaulted by an angry mob which was apparently angry just because these were white people. The police were called six different times with no response. Young black people can be seen shooting at other young black people during the daytime protests. The focus of the governing authorities in St. Louis seems to be directed toward a white couple standing outside their home with guns during the protest rather than the violence infecting their city.

As usual folks I saved the best for last and the best goes hands down to the great Democrat city of Chicago. The police in Chicago stood down a long time ago after many attempts to police the south side were rebuffed. In June 557 people were shot and 91 were killed on the streets of Chicago. 91 people dead in one 30-day month is just too incredible to comprehend. The south side of Chicago is literally an out of control war zone, but the mayor says there is nothing she can do but let her streets run red.

In conclusion, Democrat mayors and city councils have been responsible for the deaths of many black people since all this started. Refusal to allow city police forces to work proactively and actively conveys responsibility for those deaths to the city government. There are ways to curtail crime and save lives, but it requires the cooperation of leadership and the will of the people. People must decide if they want to reduce crime and have a safer and more pleasant place to live or not. Would they rather appease the mob and the preening Hollywood types and the wealthy athlete types than protect their residents? Remember that those who advise defunding the police are usually not those in the path of violent criminals.

Changes in police training and training in how to deescalate without deadly force I would be very much in favor of. The method of proactive policing that would immediately save lives cannot be done because it disproportionately affects black people, and it is a clear violation of the 4th amendment prohibition against unreasonable searches. That method is called stop and frisk which has been proven to reduce violent crime but for the reasons I have mentioned can’t be done. I suppose its better to just let them kill each other than it is to make difficult non-progressive decisions.

Finally, folks, stop and frisk would probably save hundreds of lives each year, but to really affect crime long term would take an effort over a couple of generations at least. We, as a people, would have to stop incentivizing the breakup and destruction of the human family. Have a great 4th of July folks and stay safe.

THE TRUTH IS A PRECIOUS COMMODITY

Hello this is Darrell Castle with today’s Castle Report. Today is Friday June 26, 2020 and on this Report I will be talking about the growing levels of anarchy and violence in America. In addition, we will look for the truth and examine why it is sometimes hard to grasp.

For the Castle Family this is week five post quarantine and so far so good, but there are ominous storm clouds hanging over my city with calls from city council members to go back to stage one lockdown which would be death to many if not most businesses. In times like these I really miss the family daughter who is safe but just a face on the computer screen thousands of miles from us. I don’t know when if ever flights from her island will be permitted so we pray for her and we wait.

There are some very strange things happening in America today. Statues of people who built nations and who achieved great things are being toppled by people who have never accomplished anything in their lives. I’m not talking about Robert E. Lee here folks because it has gone far beyond Confederate generals. It started with monuments to Confederate dead and the Confederate battle flag and has progressed to anything by white Europeans.

Here is just a partial list of monuments recently removed, destroyed, or defaced by either an angry mob or by an unelected bureaucrat who just made the decision to do it without consulting any voters. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Phillip Schuyler, Caesar Rodney, Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, Juniperro Serra, Juan de Onate, William McKinley, Robert E. Lee, Christopher Columbus, Stand Watie, Miguel Cervantes, Queen Isabella of Castile. Diego de Vargas, Francis Scott Key, The Texas Rangers, Orville Hubbard, Jerry Richardson, The Richmond, Virginia Police, Delaware Law Enforcement, Oregonian Pioneers, Oregonian Pioneer Mothers, John Sutter, Theodore Roosevelt, Raoul Wallenberg.

Cities across America and Europe have allowed mobs to pull down vandalize and destroy statues of historical figures from different walks of life. Cities could stop it if they choose to, but no one in the media is asking them why. The statue of Raoul Wallenberg in his native Sweden donated by Jews who survived the holocaust was torn down and destroyed. No one presumed to be white or to represent Western Civilization has been spared.

President Trump, upset because of vandalism of Iconic monuments in the nation’s capital, including Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and the World War Two memorial, signed an executive order allowing federal authorities to arrest and prosecute those who vandalize federal property. Whether out of genuine concern or just virtue signaling to his base, Washington DC is a federal protectorate, so no such order was necessary for federal authorities to act.

Some city mayors are starting to have second thoughts about allowing anarchy in their cities. At first, they seemed to have some degree of sympathy and even admiration for the goals of the mobs, but these things have a way of escalating and becoming all consuming. I suppose they learned the hard way that just because you are down with the cause does not mean the cause is down with you. In addition, lots of private tax paying citizens get caught up in the mob’s effort to destroy civilization.

In Minneapolis where this all started, people used to be able to live peaceful middle America lives but no more. Now the city competes with Chicago, Baltimore, Seattle, as a haven for crime. Not just any crime but crimes of violence, especially murder. When it was limited to minority neighborhoods as it is in Chicago the city was apparently willing to put up with it, but now it is all over the progressive enclave of Minneapolis. In downtown Minneapolis, where I have spent many days, visiting friends, attending ball games and attending the Ron Paul Convention in 2008, white liberals hunker down afraid that the violence and despair they have encouraged elsewhere will finally reach them. The politically correct say, “you want us to kneel, OK we’ll kneel.” Their subservience has not and will not keep the violence at bay. Each day they seem to find new methods of revolting, subservient, groveling but nothing seems to work, because the mob has another agenda that it doesn’t bother to mention, and it is insatiable.

Mayor Jacob Frey, millennial head of Minneapolis has certain views of what the mob’s goals are and he is all for them, but he is now being forced to deal with the reality of mob violence out of control. Lisa Bender, President of the City Council is the person quoted as saying that if your home is broken into perhaps it’s time the privileged felt what the marginalized have been feeling. So she takes the view that if you are lucky enough to have a job in her city and you acquire a mortgage and work hard for years to service that mortgage, you somehow owe that home to privilege.

Lisa was a privileged child from a white, affluent family who sent her to the University of California at Berkeley. She admits her privilege and apparently spends her time trying to atone for it by allowing mobs to burn and loot the city she is responsible for. She normally occupies her time by turning Minneapolis highways into bike paths so that in the couple of months it is not snowing in Minnesota, people will be encouraged to ride bicycles.

In Seattle, mayor Jenny Durkan encouraged a mob of terroristic anarchists to take control of six blocks at the center of Seattle. That once great city turned into a war zone and a walled off prison for a bunch of violent lunatics. At first, the mayor was quite proud of it, often referring to the occupation as the summer of love. The lunatics declared their six blocks as a separate nation without any police although many of them were armed with semi-automatic rifles. The Mayor told the nation that she was tolerant of them because they were opposing racial inequality and police brutality.

Now she says that she is “negotiating to bring the Capital Hill Occupied Protest zone to an end.” The violence including accusations of murder and rape among the summer of love forced her hand. “The cumulative impacts of the gatherings and protests and the nighttime atmosphere and violence has led to increasingly difficult circumstances for our business and residents. “Let’s attempt to interpret her progressive words; what she said was that she is getting so much pressure from business about lost tourism dollars and from residents afraid of the violence and third world conditions that she simply had to act.

I wonder what negotiating to bring the protest zone to an end means. My guess is that it means let’s find out how much money it takes to make all these highly principled anarchists go back to their parent funded ivy league universities. The president was right in his decision not to get involved in Seattle. That is a quagmire that is better left to local authorities and not a matter for federal troops. If Jenny Durkin wants to turn her city into a third world Seattlestan the people who vote can judge.

The tearing down of monuments and the cleansing of history are big mistakes that we are making right now. Number one, when history is erased you don’t know where you have been and if you don’t know where you’ve been you don’t know who you are. Number two, the cleansing of history is the act of a conqueror imposing his will on conquered people. Napoleon Bonaparte said that the chief spoil of war was being able to write the history. For these reasons and more we should never surrender our history.

Along the same lines, but perhaps even worse is the act of kneeling to show contrition, support for a cause or just virtue signaling to others. Kneeling is an act of submission to the authority of others. The army which has surrendered kneels symbolically and literally before its conquering general. The conquered hand their guns to the conqueror because they are now helpless and completely at the mercy of the conqueror. Will he be merciful, or will he be cruel, it’s up to him? The act of kneeling is also an act of the acceptance of slavery. The one who kneels is indicating his acceptance and acknowledgment of his status of slave. My advice to any American is to kneel before God but not before man.

The truth is so very important and unless we are willing to face it and to examine it to determine if it really is the truth, we will never solve our problems. We certainly do not like to look at the truth and sometimes we avoid it at all costs, but if we do, how can we know the real source of our problems. Would we really prefer to base our lives, our futures, our children’s futures on lies told to us by a media with an agenda that we may not even be aware of. Sometimes we evade the truth because we are afraid of what it may say about us. Perhaps it will reveal an answer to our problems that we consider worse than the problem, but nevertheless there it is unchanging.

Reality is something that is also hard for us to admit at times. The science fiction writer Philip Dick once said, “Reality is what continues to exist whether you believe in it or not.” That is the best description of reality that I have heard. An example would be the question of whether God exists. The fact that you may choose not to believe in the existence of a creator God who is personal and who has a claim on your life has nothing to do with whether God exists or not. We may lie to ourselves all we want but, in the end, reality is there right in front of us ever present and unchanging. It is at least unchanging until we face it with a determination to change it.

Another reason for all this racial and political division at least bordering on hatred is because it is a tactic of the relatively cold war in which we are now engaged....

CENTURY OF THE COMMON MAN

Hello this is Darrell Castle with today’s Castle Report. Today is Friday June 19, 2020 and on this Report I will be talking about what former vice president Henry Wallace described as the century of the common man. What condition is the common man in today since this is supposed to be his century? For the Castle Family week four out of quarantine passed uneventfully although the powers that be tell us we are now part of the masked ones whether we want to be or not. The family daughter remains marooned but safe and unmasked, virus free but in a distant land.

On May 8, 1942 in the Grand Ballroom of the Commodore Hotel in New York City Vice President Henry Wallace gave a speech to a packed house. It was packed with a diverse group from 33 different nations including all the nations of Latin America. It was the Vice President after all, and the nation was in the early stages of a World War. Mr. Wallace titled his speech “The Century of the Common Man.” He reviewed the great revolutions that had engulfed the world over the centuries in which he asserted the common man had tried to uplift himself through bloodshed. He emphasized that the next century would be different, since the coming change would be for the benefit of the common man and the government would bring it peacefully.

He said that he and President Roosevelt were proposing to make the following 100 years the century of the common man buttressed by the four freedoms emphasized by the President in his recent speech to congress. These four freedoms, President Roosevelt told the world, were the four freedoms that Americans held to be so dear they would be willing to die for them or go abroad and kill to protect them.

The four freedoms were freedom of speech, freedom of religion or worship as the President worded it, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. We will address the state of the four in a moment but first, the vice president’s speech became an international sensation. Mr. Wallace was an avowed socialist or communist depending on who you talked to, and that was 78 years before Bernie Sanders made it fashionable to be a socialist.

Composer Aaron Copeland who was the son of Jewish Lithuanian immigrants was so taken by the speech that he wrote a composition in honor of it which he called “Fanfare for the Common Man.” The piece became a part of Americana and is still played today. I’m sure you’ve heard it sometime in your lifetime. The vice president was honored by fellow socialists around the world for his idea of bloodless revolution although at the time the world was awash in blood.

 Mr. Wallace proposed that the government should relive the burden of individual responsibility that the common man had shouldered since the advent of America. The burden would henceforth be socialized across all strata of society. Incidentally, what is a common man. What does it mean to be called common? In the traditional European definition, it meant anyone not a member of an inherited royal status or anyone not deemed royal by a member of the royal family. Here in America where we are supposed to reject such titles, it could mean anyone not of any esteemed social status. Such things in America are usually determined by money instead of birth.

At the time Mr. Wallace spoke, common men and women were dying by the millions across the world. Dying in battle, dying as collateral damage, and dying in the German Camps. When the war ended, the 15 years of the post war boom really could truthfully be said to be the golden age of the common man. Except for a few years fighting on the Korean peninsula, the common man’s plight was uplifted by the world war and its aftermath. The industrial machinery of the war was converted quickly to civilian consumer goods and that provided good middle-class jobs for the 12 million returning men. The former soldiers all needed houses, cars and all the other products that had to be manufactured.

There were enough good jobs in manufacturing to go around and each family could live on one income so there was one spouse available to nurture the children. They had a car and could take a family vacation once a year and when the breadwinner retired there would be a pension waiting. That status existed through at least parts of the Truman, Eisenhower and Kennedy administrations but then the Federal Reserve and the elites whose cause it serves, started to assert itself.

The Vietnam War put the final nail in the coffin of the century of the common man. President Nixon found that it was impossible to pay for both an expensive war and the great society programs left over from President Johnson. His solution was to cut the dollar’s historic tie to gold and set the dollar free with no limits on what could be printed and borrowed from the Federal Reserve via the central banks of the world.

This was all happening at the same time that American manufacturing was being transferred to various offshore low wage countries to serve the interests of the international elite but not the wellbeing of the common man. Gone were the well-paying middle-class jobs and the only thing left for the common man was the low paying service jobs, and jobs that as President Bush told us, Americans would not do. The American common man suddenly had to compete not only with low paid workers around the world but with low paid immigrants who were imported in massive numbers.

He was told that he should be happy about all this change. It was all in his best interest and furthermore the jobs that were taken from him and shipped to the third world would be replaced by modern high-tech jobs involving robotics etc. When he went to school to learn some of those high-tech jobs that perhaps would get him to Silicon Valley, he learned that most of them went to Asian Americans or just plain Asians.

The common man was told that he had to not only accept this bum deal, but he had to like it. NAFTA, CAFTA, WTO, GATT and the like were good for him because he would be able to go to Walmart and buy stuff from China real cheap. What a good deal except that he couldn’t even afford to buy the cheap junk because half the time he worked a temporary job, or he was on unemployment, and always on food stamps. He could appear rich, he was told, if he could just acquire more debt.

His self esteem languished in the gutter as he could not get proper education for his kids. Most of the degrees available were virtually worthless and all involved a lifetime of debt for his children and himself.  In fact, he could not make ends meet at all because his wages remained flat for 40 years or so while inflation ate away his lifestyle. Families that were fortunate enough to remain intact were forced to both work while the government took on the child raising responsibilities. One spouse worked to pay the taxes and one worked to pay the bills.  They had to borrow to survive until they couldn’t meet the debt service anymore because income and expense never balanced.

Good news for the government though, as computers relieved them of the burden of printing. Now they only had to hit a key stroke and the money appeared as if by magic. The government set the example for the common man to follow. Borrow whatever you need and pay back nothing until it all collapses and then you take the fall, not the banks or Wall Street firms, you Mr. Common Man.

Let’s look now, after that dismal picture, at those hallowed freedoms that President Roosevelt talked about. Surely that picture of freedom will lift the spirits of our bedraggled common man. Freedom of speech was the first one and guaranteed in the first amendment to the US Constitution. That one is easy to cover because it doesn’t exist anymore, at least not under the concept of freedom as we used to know it.

 The only speech that is allowed now is speech that not only agrees with but exalts the prevailing political narrative. Our common man has no option but to lie to those who demand his view of things. He has no political opinion except those opinions assigned to him by a media whose goal is to establish his opinion and make him believe it is his idea.

No college professor can dispute that narrative, no doctor, no scientist, no lawyer, and certainly no common man. To dispute the prevailing narrative would be to lose one’s job, one’s profession, one’s social standing and to be ostracized from polite society. If anyone had the audacity to actually speak his mind he would be forced into a humiliating, groveling, disgusting, apology which de does not mean and which does not work. His head would still be symbolically paraded around the world on a pike as an example of the penalty for non-compliance. In response, the common man, being also a practical man, keeps his mouth firmly shut, lest anyone find out that he has a contrary opinion.

In his mind grows a burning anger at all this. He thinks that he has no voice and is unable to affect this deteriorating condition. However, this is America so he can still vote and obtain change that way and, that would send them a message that he is not going to take it anymore. No, our common man learns that no matter who he votes for, it just gets worse.

What about religion, surely, he can still worship as he pleases. No, the churches are closed now and possibly will be opened partially over a time frame to be determined by his betters. He also learns that his religion is out of favor right now. He hears a lot about the term Islamophobia, but he sees no sanction for those criticizing his religion so, the common man keeps his mouth shut, and hopes no one notices that he might have an opinion.

The other freedoms listed by Mr. Wallace are not protected by the Constitution,...

A COUNTRY UNWILLING TO DEFEND ITSELF

Hello this is Darrell Castle with today’s Castle Report. Today is Friday June 12, 2020 and on this Report I will be talking about the madness, the insanity, in which America, and perhaps all of what was once Western Civilization, finds itself. For the Castle Family this is the third week back in the office from quarantine and so far, so good. The family daughter remains marooned on her small island many thousands of miles from us, but at least safe. Perhaps in July she will be released from confinement.

 I’ve been thinking a lot about the concept of mass insanity and how we, as a nation, seem to be in the grips of it. To refresh my memory about how it all works I decided to consult one of my favorite books and authors and that is Charles Mackey’s “Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds”.

Written in 1841 but still very relevant today Mr. Mackey explores the concept of mass or crowd insanity and how it is quite different from individual madness. The backdrop for the book was the tulip mania that gripped Europe in Mr. Mackey’s day. People trading in the future price of tulip bulbs drove the price to an unimaginable high in that day. It made no sense except when looked at from the standpoint of crowd or mob action.

“When a man enters a crowd, he exits civilization.” That is obviously just as true today as it was in 1841 and as evidence, I argue that a man in a riot or even in a mass protest is a man in a crowd. His reason departs and he is driven by the hormones, the emotions of the crowd rather than his own. Men go mad in herds while they must recover their senses one by one. Friedrich Nietzsche in the same era as Mackey said that madness is a rarity in individuals but the rule in crowds.

In a crowd a man is not a man but simply a face thus the expression just a face in the crowd. He is a cog in a lunatic machine. He cannot think rationally so the crowd thinks for him. Crowds need something to unite them so they will always have their devils. The devil could be policemen, whites, blacks, Muslims, Christians, progressives, conservatives etc. Whatever it is, each crowd will have its devil. It will always be a devil which inspires the crowd.

I can cite no better example of crowd madness than what has happened since the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police a few days ago. Mr. Floyd’s death appeared to me to be a virtual assassination. Three police officers hold a man down while another puts a knee on his neck for eight minutes while being filmed doing it. It appeared to be an act of cold-blooded murder, which in a death penalty state should have sent the officer to death row.

The question then is, was Mr. Floyd’s murder an indictment of America as a sick, racist society as alleged by some. I argue that it does not and furthermore, other than Mr. Floyd’s race there is not much to indicate the attack was racially motivated. I understand the argument that if he had not been black the officer would not have put his knee on his neck, but the argument may or may not be valid. Can we rationally discuss whether it’s a valid argument or not, probably not, but I will make a few points now?

The submission technique that ultimately killed Mr. Floyd is one taught to US police forces by the Israeli military. Consult You Tube and you can find videos of Israeli instructors teaching the technique. They use it to subdue Palestinians in Gaza and other places they are deployed every day. One officer is to hold the subject’s legs while the other kneels on his neck to get control of him. Does that mean Mr. Floyd’s murder was not racially motivated? No, it doesn’t, and I admit that I have no way of knowing, but there is evidence that the technique is and has been widely used against people of all races.

The training of police in tactics, and their attitude about who they are, as well as their uniforms and weapons, have undergone a radical shift in recent years. The original shift happened when our society abandoned common law in favor of only statutory law. Under the common law, police officers were commonly referred to as peace officers. Even in the old west, the sheriff was a peace officer and his job was to keep the peace by resolving differences in a peaceful manner.

In our present day, officers don’t even remember what a peace officer was because they would not recognize that term. Instead they are law enforcement officers because their job is to enforce the law even if the law is stupid and doesn’t make sense. For example, Mr. Floyd’s offense was trying to pass a counterfeit 20-dollar bill in a local store. There was no indication that he made the bill or that he even knew it was counterfeit. There is so much bad cash now that anyone can end up with some purely by accident, and that is not a crime of intent, certainly not one worthy of death.

So, a peace officer talks to Mr. Floyd, asks him where he got the bad cash and tells him to make good on his purchase if he had not done so and then sends him on his way without incident. A law enforcement officer pulls him out of the car and kills him with an Israeli submission tactic. One other issue with police recruitment and training involves where the officers are recruited.

I am not certain of these numbers anymore but a couple of years ago when there was an officer involved shooting in Dallas, I looked at them and found them very revealing. More than 50% of the police officers in Dallas were not only military veterans but veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan. I’m sure you will believe me when I say that the rules of engagement for soldiers in combat are far different from the way police officers should think. Their military objective is killing the enemy and they confront death of friends and fellow soldiers each day.

Sometimes its hard to get things out of your head once they are in there. Couple the military mindset with what has come to be called militarization of the police and you might just create a volatile situation. Weapons designed to be used by military combat units started coming back to US police forces under the second Bush administration and continued to some extent under Obama although he apparently tried to stop it when he saw what was happening.

So, you have military weapons, uniforms, and tactics so no wonder the officers think of themselves as soldiers going to war each day when they go out. They must face the worst, most heartless, relentless criminals each day and that wears on people sooner or later.

What I am saying is that a call to review and change police training and tactics makes more sense than abolish or defund the police. Calling for abolition of the police in a city such as Minneapolis is evidence that our cities are run by spineless lunatics. Let me use the example of Minneapolis to illustrate my point. The city commission voted by a veto proof majority to abolish their police force.

Lisa Bender, President of the City Council when asked on CNN what would happen if your house were broken into  said, “maybe it’s about time for privileged people to get a taste of what the marginalized feel like. “She went on to say that she looks forward to a police free future. Well I know she deserves to get what she looks forward to good and hard. Perhaps Ms. Bender will get a taste of what a lawless, violent city is like without people willing to risk their lives to protect it. I almost hope she does, but I can’t wish that on the people of Minnesota. We’ve already seen it anyway in Baltimore and especially in Chicago. 

Just before Mr. Floyd’s killing in Minneapolis, on the night of May 31st, in Chicago 17 black people were killed by other black people. In the month of May 67 black people were killed by other black people. Baltimore has comparable numbers scaled to its population. The police have been restrained in those cities, so they are violently out of control. 

Yes, law enforcement is under attack. An injustice in Minneapolis means there is injustice everywhere. Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot perhaps takes the cake among city mayors. Completely paralyzed by the riots, she was unable to do anything but watch her city burn. Business owners called her begging for protection of their businesses. Her response was to say “people are just F**ing lawless right now.

Target stores as well as Walmart stores were looted and burned, and the mayor expected them to just rebuild and continue. When they said no, we are leaving, and we won’t be back she was reduced to begging them. She could not however dispatch police or National Guard units to quell the riots.

I do agree that the riots, not the non-violent protests, indicate a fundamental problem in our society. The rioters and looters supposedly were feeling so much pain and despair from violence suffered by Mr. Floyd, that they had to use violence against the innocent as a remedy. They had no regard for the innocent and certainly none for the free society they are bent on destroying.

The response from those in authority to the riots was a groveling, crawling, begging apology for the looters to forgive them. Democrat members of Congress actually wore Kente’s which are African scarves from Ghana as they kneeled before the looters an act so disgusting even the looters could see through it. Congress and especially those who run our Democrat cities line up to demonstrate their support of the woke values of the looters. The fact is the looters are more often than not, just in it for the free stuff. They have no woke values except criminality.

Western Civilization is collapsing around us and that much is obvious. What was the purpose of setting fire to St. John’s church? To kill or displace God perhaps. Nothing civilized was spared,...

IT’S NOT CHINA—IT’S THE CHINESE COMMUNIST PARTY

Hello this is Darrell Castle with today’s Castle Report. Today is Friday, June 5, 2020 and on today’s report I will be talking about China from the perspective of what all the recent “news” is about. As you may guess I have my own views on the subject which I will endeavor to share with you today. My intention was to talk about issue number one which of course is the killing of George Floyd and its aftermath, but I have gained little if any traction with my own views on the subject, so I proceed to issue number two which is China. Perhaps I can share my views on Mr. Floyd and the aftermath of his death at some other point.

What is going on between China and the United States right now amounts to the result of an un-written but spoken agreement that was started in what seems like ancient history now. Before I get to that let me pause for a moment and say that when we say China did this or that, we are making a serious mistake. The rest of the world, especially in places like China and the Middle East, believe that the United States is a self-governing country. We elect our leaders, they presume, so when our leaders do something, they conclude that America did it. In their minds we are responsible for the acts of our government because we can vote.

We Americans often do the same thing with China. Let me give you this example; In a fund raising letter I received from a congressman in Michigan who is also a retired army general, “It is irrefutable that China is responsible for the unchecked spread of the Corona Virus—they need to be held responsible for the havoc they have caused to our nation.” I don’t dispute the veracity of what the general said, but when he says China is responsible, I disagree.

China consists of about 1.5 billion people and probably no more than about 500 of them had anything to do with the virus. Most of the 500, and that number is just a guess, are members of the National People’s Congress or the ruling body of the Chinese Communist Party. It would be more accurate and less inflammatory to say the Chinese Communist Party is responsible for the unchecked spread of the corona virus. We would then have a better, and clearer picture of where to put the blame.

The Chinese government has a big advantage in these things because it is completely despotic. There are no meaningful elections and the Communist Party selects its own leaders and membership. Any leader anywhere in China from village mayor to Party Chief is a member of the Communist Party. One is either a member or he does not survive very long.

During World War ll China and the United States fought as allies against the invading Japanese. The Chinese people suffered horribly under Japanese domination, a great deal of it because of their help for American military forces. Since the end of that war the United States has been in at least a cold war with the stated aims of Global Communism.

Keep in mind that neither the Chinese people or the Chinese Government have ever tried an invasion of the United States, but Washington has had its military inside China and killing Chinese people beginning in 1856. I recommend three movies that deal with this subject and all involve characters acting on behalf of Washington, through its military, and all end up wandering why am I here and what am I doing. The three movies are The Sand Pebbles with Steve McQueen, 55 Days at Peking, with Charlton Heston, and The Bridges at Toko-Ri with William Holden.

The growing conflict with the Chinese Government has a long history and can be couched in terms of being involved everywhere in the world under the belief that you have a right to be so involved. From the Communist side, the revolutionaries under Mao spent the years 1966 to 1976 trying to destroy capitalism and sweep it from China but it was capitalism that made the Chinese economic miracle possible, so I suppose if you can’t beat them join them.

 Right now, the physical conflict centers around control of the waters off the Chinese coast. The Yellow Sea between northern China and the West Coast of the Korean Peninsula running south to the East China Sea and continuing south to the South China Sea west of Taiwan and south of Hong Kong. You may have wondered why it called the China Sea, well, I suppose the Chinese are pretty sure they have the answer. Its probably similar answer to the question the Iranians have for why the Gulf that contains the US Fifth Fleet is called the Persian Gulf.

The China Seas contain hundreds of small islands that for the most part are uninhabited. The Chinese Government has begun building military installations on several islands including airstrips for their most advanced fighter aircraft. Several nations in the area claim those islands as their own and they at least have some legal, under international law, claim to them for navigation and fishing rights. Those nations include the Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea, Vietnam, and Malaysia, among others. Notice that the United States is missing from that list.  

The claim of the United States is not about territory but its obligation as the world’s premier naval power, to keep the sea lanes open for trade and international commerce. The US also has alliances with the other nations mentioned. Periodically the US Navy sends a fast destroyer through the channel just to let them know that the US will not accept Chinese ownership. A US carrier battle group is always patrolling just East of the islands in deep water. These events make confrontation and conflict to some degree, inevitable.

The rest of the story is about trade and for that we must return to my second paragraph where I left the story with the rise of communism in China, and after the US Chinese war in Korea. The Chinese Government was very interested in taking the country and its billion plus people into the modern world and the 20th century. When Richard Nixon was elected president, he was given Henry Kissinger as his secretary of state. Kissinger was and still is perhaps the world’s leading globalist. Much to the chagrin of his conservative hard line supporters, off went Nixon and Kissinger to China to open that country up to trade with the west.

Now, I ask you, what did China have in the early 1970’s that was desirable to the west? Only one thing and that was a very cheap labor force of over a billion people. The Communists in China have always been a little nervous about the prospect of a couple of hundred million hungry, unemployed Chinese workers descending on the capitol with their pitch forks and axes. Kissinger and Nixon were able to offer them a way to prevent that long term, and they accepted the offer. To a large extent that deal still exists today and it has prevented conflict for almost 50 years. It is also at least partially responsible for the economic demise of the United States.

The background of all this was that it began during the golden age of the American middle-class worker and it was also the demise of that golden age. Nixon, with Kissinger in his ear, had already ended the gold standard and set the US dollar free from any restraint which gave the administration the opportunity to spend without limits. US union labor had just reached its peak in those years and I was one of those workers. When I came home from the Marine Corps, I went to Michigan to work in a General Motors factory where the union scale wages were many times what I could make in Tennessee.

That factory where I worked at 36th street in Grand Rapids Michigan was eventually shipped in its entirety to China, where cars continued to be made but with Chinese labor and then shipped back to the US. These Chinese cars weren’t any cheaper just more profitable. The labor rate in China then was less than one dollar per hour as opposed to about ten dollars in a union plant. The United States has never recovered from this unholy relationship with the Chinese Communists. Oh, I’m very familiar with the argument that many new modern high-tech jobs were created to replace the assembly line, but those are mostly white-collar high-tech jobs and not jobs for blue collar workers. The result was that the mainstream economy was and has been deprived of real investment, good jobs, and genuine wealth building capitalism by order of the federal government. That was and is the real effect of our deal with the Chinese Communists.

It was not just Nixon and Kissinger although they started it. Every president since has continued the process except possibly Donald Trump and that is because the process has now run its course. A country finds it difficult to prosper when it intentionally guts its manufacturing core just to benefit a few at the very top and at the same time break the backs of the labor unions which strive for better lives for ordinary people. The people I worked with at Fisher-Body number two in Grand Rapids were in many ways the same people I saw in my Marine rifle platoon. They had good jobs for themselves and their families but greed plus the opportunity for globalism to dominate robbed them of it.

It all seems to be ending now, however, as suspicion grows around the world, about the Chinese Communist Government and its goals of economic world prominence. These countries, led by the United States, not only opened their markets but shipped their factories to China thus enriching the Communist Party and making possible the Chinese Miracle for their workers. To quote Chinese expert John Derbyshire; “The developed countries of North America, Western Europe, and Australasia are waking up to the fact that we have sold the Chinese Communist Party a whole lot of rope with a gift card attached saying “Please Hang Us.”

NEW NORMAL IS NOT NORMAL OR EVEN NECESSARY

Hello this is Darrell Castle with today’s Castle Report. Today is Friday May 29, 2020 and on this Report I will be talking about what the journalists and “experts” offer us as the new normal that we are just going to have to get used to. Today would be day 70 of house arrest for the Castle family or 10 full weeks without outside human contact, but we are free now having gone back to our Law Office on Tuesday of this week. The family daughter remains marooned on a small island at the bottom of the world but at least she is free of the virus.

The return to the office with all my staff has been uneventful so far. The staff voiced no concern or fear at coming out of their homes and into the world. So right now, I have my staff back and all I need are the clients back and we will be at least approaching a state that we once referred to as normal. Sixty-Six days of quarantine which Joan and I faithfully adhered to finally comes to an end as eventually all things do.

Strangely, although normal obviously varies from person to person, there are some who believe they know what the future normal will be for all of us and they are not shy about telling us. My hometown newspaper published a long article last Sunday entitled “Our New Normal. “In that article, the writer makes many statements which I presume she believes to be factual and she assumes that her readers will believe them to be factual as well.

For example, she writes, “The new normal is not just referring to life after the pandemic, for we have no idea when that day will come. Until we get a COVID-19 vaccine, and it has been proved (sic) effective, the highly contagious coronavirus will be a threat to our health and our lives. It will be a part of our daily lives and consciousness. The sooner we accept and realize this fact, the better off we will be as a people and as a nation.”

So, she states that we must accept and realize the “fact” that she gives us. Well, Ms. Norment, I beg to differ and I submit that very little of the long article is fact and a great deal of it is simply the opinion of the writer and possibly the editorial board of the Commercial Appeal. She voices the same level of fear bordering on paranoia that I have seen and heard from many people since this has been going on.

The interesting part of all this is that even the once alarmist CDC no longer agrees with Ms. Norment about the terrible long term affects of this virus on our daily lives, possibly forever. It doesn’t seem to matter what anyone says, however, because many strong advocates of long-term lockdown, or lockdowners, if I may use that term, hold that view with religious zealotry. They passionately believe that the end justifies the means and that to leave confinement will expose everyone to an apocalyptic scenario.

The CDC in its latest report, which was printed in the New York Times, last Sunday edition, now says that many of the things it told us early on about the dangerous effects of the virus turned out to be incorrect. For example, it now seems that that virus is only transmitted by human contact and through close quarters breathing, coughing, sneezing, etc. and not by touching a doorknob, sink, etc.

It also said that the virus is almost impossible to transmit outdoors so there is nothing wrong with going to the beach or for a walk or bicycle ride. To enforce rules against such things in light of this new information must be to exhibit some type of totalitarian psychosis. That is my assessment not that of the CDC. How does that statement fit in with the video images we have all seen of Chinese trucks spraying disinfectant up and down Chinese streets, I don’t know?

I will admit that it is hard to make sense of anything these days. Perhaps you are one of the true lockdowners who demand that we stay locked down until no human on earth ever dies from a virus again. There are parallel views of the same thing and each lead down parallel rabbit holes into different universes. For example, in answer to a very passionate lockdowner I might ask, why can’t you stay locked down if that is your preference, your fear, and let me live free of confinement and harassment? 

The answer, of course, is that I will endanger the health of others with my irresponsible behavior. So, we are back to the collective again, or at least some view of the collective which is more important to lockdowners than any individual and his rights. I always wonder, though, what the lockdowner has to fear from me? He is locked in his home so why is he afraid that I will infect him?

The same question exists in the world of mandatory vaccines. If someone has taken the vaccine, he is rendered immune to the virus in theory so why would he fear someone who is not vaccinated. I don’t know any logical answer to these questions accept possibly some type of herd programing.  

The CDC also reassessed its estimate of mortality and guess what, its much lower than previously thought. The new mortality rate is 0.26% or roughly one quarter of one per cent, and that is assuming the tests are 100% accurate which is probably impossible. The CDC death rate for those under 50 is now 1 in 5000 for those with symptoms, and even lower for those without severe comorbidities. For those without comorbidities, one could extrapolate from the most recent CDC numbers, they are more likely to die in a car accident. Kids are more likely to get struck by lightning, but we terrify them anyway.

The threat was overblown from the beginning, and that much at least is clear. Hindsight is 20-20 and I know we all understand that it was foggy and scary out there at first. The question now is why do some of those in authority, elected and bureaucratic, insist on trampling the rights of free people when they can no longer justify it? I was told to quarantine my law office for 2 weeks to flatten the curve. I remember Dr. Fauci holding up a sign that said 17 days to flatten the curve.

While we were in quarantine, the goalpost kept moving. Every time we were about to score, we had another few yards to go. Two weeks of quarantine morphed into 3 months and counting. Now that we can see it is not as bad as we first thought, why not try to recover as quickly as possible? Most seem to agree with that but many governors, and mayors apparently do not.

There are worrisome signs coming to us from around the country. Some governors are requiring small businesses, especially restaurants to collect personal information from their customers. That is supposedly to make contact tracing easier. In California, for example, Governor Gavin Newsom plans to hire 20,000 contact tracers to chase people who have a positive test.

Should you test positive you will be asked where you have been, what you did, who you did it with etc. In the case of a restaurant, where did you eat and then the restaurant should have a list with names, addresses of all who were there at that time and each of them would have to be contacted and have a test. Should anyone test positive, the whole process starts over again.

In the case of a vaccine when one is finally available, and several Dr. Fauci/Bill Gates companies are racing to bring one to service, there is no doubt in my mind that it will be mandatory. President Trump has said that the military will have to be used to vaccinate everyone in 2021. The federal government issued a contract of $178 million for several hundred million self-contained vaccine ampules. What if there is resistance or should I say when there is resistance, how will this order be enforced or will it? We will see how serious the government and its experts are about bending us to the will of authority.

Back to the Commercial Appeal, we are told what our new normal is to be, at least until there is a vaccine that is proven effective. Wear masks in public at all times, thoroughly wash hands often, use hand sanitizer, wash all surfaces often with disinfectant. We might as well accept the wearing of a mask as the new normal according to the Commercial Appeal. I suppose that is the case even though new evidence reveals much of it to be false.

No more handshakes even in church, certainly no hugs and kisses, and as respected immunologist Dr. Anthony Fauci says, “We can all forget about shaking hands.” That’s what the Commercial Appeal is telling me my future looks like but, that quote from dr. Fauci deserves some explanation. The quote should be explained by saying respected immunologist Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has a financial stake in several vaccine companies, and who stands to profit quite handsomely by suppressing all treatments not based on vaccines says we can forget about shaking hands.

The rest of the new normal will be changes at the office, at church and other places. Ms. Lynn Norment who wrote this piece may not mind having her life turned upside down until Dr. Fauci and Bill Gates have their vaccine proven to be effective, but I do. Something tells me I am not the only one who does not intend to accept this new normal, especially in light of the CDC’s most recent report.

If that were all it would be plenty, but it gets worse. Another article dated Wednesday May 27, 2020 in the same Commercial Appeal tells us that a November “surge” is predicted. The article talks once again about the huge overflow hospital available for COVID patients. I have no doubt that cases will return to us in the late fall and winter as people come indoors and vitamin D levels fall. That result is perfectly normal for even cold and flu season so why not COVID-19.

I would hate to have people close to me live in this kind of fear just because of mistakes or rumors. Why disrupt our lives and our ability to earn a living not to ment

A REPORT FROM THE BLUFF CITY—COVID 19 OR COVID 1984

Hello this is Darrell Castle with today’s Castle Report. Today is Friday May 22, 2020 the Friday before Memorial Day and the start of a three-day weekend when we are supposed to stop for a moment and remember the fallen. This is day 63 of house arrest for the Castle family, nine full weeks of full-fledged quarantine. The family daughter will spend Memorial Day weekend safe from the virus but unable to escape from a small island at the bottom of the world.  For the Castle Family Memorial Day just might be the last day of house arrest since we are all scheduled to return to the office on Tuesday.

The lock-down response to the virus makes it virtually impossible to celebrate the day as usual. No solemn observance at the veterans’ cemetery which Joan and I usually attend. No family cookouts in the park with children playing while parents eat and talk. It is all very sad but is it necessary? We will look at that question on this Report today. This report is based on what I can see and what I experience in my city each day, and on its people and its government. Memphis Tennessee is more than likely representative of Many other cities so most of us share the same experience.

My county of Shelby contains the city of Memphis and several incorporated suburban communities with a total county population of about 1.6 million. One of the first things one might notice in Memphis are the preparations for an event that has not and probably will not happen. For the most part our mayor has done a good job considering his responsibilities. I would not want his job right now and that’s for sure. Let’s consider what he has dealt with and the results of his decisions.

 I’m certain of why my wife and I are socially distancing and quarantined in our homes. We both meet one or more of the risk categories that make us members of the vulnerable group. I’m not sure and I ask the question of why the children and grandchildren must be quarantined. Why can’t the young go to work to feed their families and why can’t the young enjoy themselves, after all, isn’t there more to life than the mere avoidance of death, which is inevitable for all of us. Today we see only the obvious costs of the lockdown. The destroyed economy, unemployment soaring, destroyed businesses, marriage breakdowns, lives suspended and of course suicides. The worst will come later when the destruction of our currency hits us all.

The Memphis daily newspaper is the Commercial Appeal which is still printed but is no longer housed in the gigantic building it occupied before the Internet killed print news. That building is now a massive 401 bed hospital for Covid-19 patients. It was converted to a hospital by the Army Corps of Engineers at a cost of more than $100 million. The Commercial Appeal headlines announced the transformation in glowing terms, and the text explains the types of patients the hospital will care for. There is a picture of the Tennessee governor talking with a Major General from the Corps of Engineers, about the completion of his work.

The article admits that there are exactly zero patients in the hospital, and it is hoped that there never will be. I have read through other sources to believe that hospital capacity in Memphis is less than 50% and ICU occupancy is less than that. Doctors have recently returned to performing non-emergency surgery so I imagine the occupancy will increase. Will there ever be a single patient at the new hospital, or will it just sit there manned and ready as a monument to over reaction?

The virus and the reaction to it have caused other problems in Memphis as I imagine it has in most places. So far, the Shelby County Health Department has only encouraged the wearing of masks in public. Last Monday the Shelby County Commissioners urged the Health Department to make the wearing of masks in public mandatory. County Health Director Alisa Haushalter said her department would consider the request, but she is not opposed to making it a mandatory requirement. I wonder who gave the director of the health department such control and authority?

Constitutional attorney and former Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz now says that we do not have a Constitutional right to refuse a mask or to refuse mandatory vaccination. He says that in a democracy the majority has a “right” to protect itself from someone with an infectious disease. No one who is a potential typhoid Mary has the right to run loose in the population. The government has the right under the police powers of the constitution to literally hold you down and stick a needle in your arm. In opposition to Mr. Dershowitz I will say that this is a Republic not a democracy. A democracy is in fact a socialist concept in that it is about the collective not the individual. In this republic minorities have rights that the majority cannot legally violate. The smallest minority is the individual, so individuals have rights that are sacrosanct from government intrusion.  Suppose the majority decided it was in their best interest to return to Jim Crow laws? No that cannot legally happen because minorities, especially a minority of one, have rights, and therefore Mr. Dershowitz is dead wrong, and his logic is faulty.

Apparently, the virus and all the new orders forcing people into their homes, if they are fortunate enough to have homes, has given even local governments the belief that their power to regulate and control our lives and our behavior has no limits. The Commissioners said that the intent is to avoid a spike while we reopen. I have yet to see the what if question answered for this order. What if someone or more likely a lot of some ones refuse to comply. Will armed police be used to enforce the order. Will the police comply, or will they simply ignore it? It all serves to foster disrespect and disregard for the law.

Another story from the front pages of the Commercial Appeal concerning my city’s response to real and potential effects of Covid-19 concerns the death rate. Local and statewide “safer at home” orders began in Mid-March and since that time 700 Shelby County residents have overdosed on narcotics with one hundred and two deaths. Shelby County Health Department director Alisa Haushalter  said “We’ve experienced more deaths from overdoses than Covid-19” She was joined by County Attorney Amy Weirich and U.S. Attorney Michael Dunavant for a joint press conference that promised resources for those battling addiction and punishment for those that ensure the chain of supply of narcotics remains intact.

I seriously doubt that more than $100 million will be spent on a hospital designed to save overdose victims with said hospital sitting empty forever. I doubt that everyone will be ordered to close their business and stay inside for months at a time because of this catastrophic event. The uptick in overdose deaths is “unprecedented” Haushalter said. The rise in overdoses and fatal overdoses has reached record breaking levels. The rise in overdose deaths started around the same time as the stay at home orders, county records show. Once again, we see that the chosen cure is killing more than the disease.

Both the health director and the county attorney assured the public that the county is not wavering in its determination to pursue individuals who sustain the supply chain of narcotics. I suppose that is newspeak for drug pushers. The U.S. Attorney admitted that the overdose is a pandemic within a pandemic and has actually been made worse by the stay at home orders. He said that the very nature of a substance abuse disorder was already deadly. With the isolation and financial hardships from Covid-19, individuals with addiction disorders have raised their demand. It seems to me that all this is an admission that the lock down has killed more than it has saved, but I guess hindsight is 20-20.

The county attorney pointed out that hospital beds and treatment are available for addicts, and lack of insurance is not a problem, so she encouraged those with the problem of addiction to take advantage of those options. I must point out to the County Attorney that it is not Covid-19 that has caused this problem but the reaction to Covid-19 and the decision to shut down this entire county, close down its economy, and shelter in our homes. That decision caused the increased overdose deaths not the virus by itself.

There is another problem that has been caused by the lock down orders in response to the virus and that is the denial of simple pleasures that are meaningless to some but mean a great deal to others. For example, this current generation of high school students has been denied the thing that kids dream of through out school and that is high school graduation. They have also been denied that right of passage called the senior prom.

The Commercial Appeal last Sunday edition front page had a headline entitled:” Covid-19 cancels proms, but not the joy.” There is a picture of a young woman in her prom gown looking out the front window of her parents’ house. The story goes on to explain that she has been planning for the prom since she was a sophomore and even picked out her gown. I suppose now she will have a virtual prom and her virtual date will pick her up in a virtual limo and take her to virtual dinner and then they will attend the virtual dance.

Perhaps later they can both virtually attend their virtual graduation, an event anticipated for 12 years. None of that sounds very joyful to me but that is how the Commercial Appeal describes it. The paper explains that this girl’s story is just one of many ways that teenagers are trying to solve

BODYGUARD OF LIES

Hello this is Darrell Castle with today’s Castle Report. Today is Friday May 15, 2020 and I am happy to say that this Report is not about the virus. For two months it has been all virus all the time but today we return to the world of politics. This is day 56 of house arrest for the Castle family two complete months with only each other, and voices on the telephone for company. The family daughter remains safe on her small island at the bottom of the world. We plan to return to our law office starting Monday but gradually with two people at a time returning, but nevertheless we go back to the world starting Monday.

The title of this report comes from a quote from Winston Churchill; “In wartime, truth is so precious it should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.” Truth is indeed precious in part because it is so rare today. We are fighting and have been fighting for some time a different war than Mr. Churchill’s. Our war is cultural and it is a war intended to destroy our existing culture. I recently heard a lecture from a psychologist who explained that computers have essentially the same function as the human brain in that they both are processors and disseminators of information according to how they are programed.

 If you enter corrupt data into your computer, it will not perform its functions accurately. It is like the German Enigma code machine that Mr. Churchill referred to in the quote I mentioned. To code messages the Germans designed a machine that scrambled information in a random fashion that was mathematically difficult to unscramble. When the messages attempting to program our brains are false but presented as absolute truth from those we once trusted, our brains are almost certain to process the corrupt data in the wrong way.

Today it seems that almost all the programing presented through the mass media is false and the false information is not intended to convey accurate information but to program our brains to think a certain way. For example, President Obama on CBS 60 Minutes, January 25, 2017: “I’m proud of the fact that we are the first administration in modern history that hasn’t had a major scandal in the White House.” The interviewer did not call him on his obvious lapse in memory of fast and furious or the IRS used by Lois Lerner to target and eliminate conservative groups and many other scandals. Perhaps now his perception of political invincibility bolstered by years of media pandering may be coming to an end, and history may have to reveal the truthful story behind his administration. I’ll believe it when I see it, but I am hopeful that the truth can be discovered in court through evidence.

On this Report I have limited time and space and can therefore only scratch the surface of the body of lies surrounding the entire scandal commonly known as Russia gate. According to recent tweets from President Trump, it should be known as Obama gate. Why would that title be appropriate; because it is obvious from the evidence that President Obama from the very start met with the group of operatives, he then dispatched to undermine the Trump presidency. This undermining was in fact an attempt at a bloodless coup against the will of the people of the United States to make their own choice in elected officials.

Right now, the House of Representatives and especially the Department of Justice (DOJ) directed by Attorney General Bob Barr, are investigating how a three-year campaign commonly known as Russia gate could proceed without a shred of evidence to support it. Please keep in mind that what I am talking about is not just my opinion or some rumor, but evidence presented to congress through thousands of pages of documents and through testimony. The internal documents of the Democrats involved in investigating the Trump campaign for Russian collusion reveal that they knew the charges were false and without evidence all along but publicly they proclaimed it all as true. Most of these hearings into Russia and the Trump campaign were conducted by the House Intelligence Committee, chaired by Democrat Adam Schiff. It appears from the evidence that Mr. Schiff repeatedly lied to congress and to the American people by lying to the media and through his statements as chair of the committee. Unfortunately, he is free to lie to Congress, even his own committee because that is not a crime. If one of us, as a private citizen, lied to congress that would get us a stretch in federal prison.

The same is true for the FBI in the sense that it is perfectly permissible for an FBI agent to lie to us, but if we lie to an FBI agent as Lieutenant General Michael Flynn was accused of doing and plead guilty to doing, then we go to prison. The FBI went after General Flynn who President Trump selected as National Security Advisor, apparently because he was smart enough and experienced enough to immediately see through the coup attempt.

The Obama administration used the US national intelligence agencies such as CIA, FBI, and NSA to set up various counterintelligence operations in foreign countries such as Ukraine and Russia. Some of those operations apparently involved Vice President Biden and his son Hunter. When Trump unexpectedly won the election, they simply brought the operations back to the US to use against the Trump campaign.

As I mentioned earlier General Flynn was the key to making the coup work because if he had been allowed to take control of the NSA, he more than likely would have discovered the plot. General Flynn was set up to be trapped into a lie with the FBI. That statement is true based on FBI director Comey’s speech in which he bragged about seeing what he could get away with, as well as a note prepared by President Obama’s counterintelligence director which requested directions on what he was to accomplish with General Flynn. He asked the question are we looking for the truth or do we want to get him to lie so we can prosecute him, or do we want to get him fired.

Why would a person plead guilty to a charge when he was not guilty or only guilty of a statement not material to the actual investigation? There are two possible reasons for doing so. The first reason would be to protect someone close to you. For example, if you were asked the question did you have an affair with said woman, even if you did, you might say no to spare your wife the embarrassment. The second reason would be to avoid a much longer sentence than the one being offered. The reason the federal system has mandatory minimum sentences is to induce guilty pleas. Instead of the offered five years perhaps he was threatened with twenty years. If you go to trial and lose you are severely punished.

Keep in mind that the FBI already knew the answers to the questions they asked General Flynn. The questions were not material to the investigation and were only asked to ensnare this three-star general in a lie. That constitutions the vilest form of corruption because it undermines the republican form of government the constitution charges the president with guaranteeing. The FBI always makes what it calls a 302 which is just notes from an interview. They interviewed General Flynn without a lawyer after telling him the usual, this is just routine. After the interview they altered the 302 to reflect what they wished he had said. When he finally hired a law firm one of the partners in that firm was connected to the Obama campaign. That is the lawyer who kept urging him to plead guilty.

It was particularly important that he plead guilty because if he had gone to trial with a real lawyer such as the one, he has now, the whole sordid mess would have come out. That’s why recent reports of a federal judge ordering a halt to the dismissal of the indictment against General Flynn is not really so alarming. If they want to go public and air their very dirty laundry in front of the whole world so be it. Bob Barr was offering his Democrat friends a face-saving way out so perhaps they should take it. You know the old expression when you are in a hole first stop digging. His current lawyer, Sidney Powell, takes the position that his guilty plea was not freely and voluntarily given both of which are required, and therefore she is prepared to take his request to withdraw the plea up the chain.

The heart of the matter is that the Obama Administration used the various intelligence agencies of the United States in an effort to overturn the election of a President of the United States. They ran a counterintelligence operation inside the United States against the American people. These agencies included among others the Department of Justice, the National Intelligence Agency, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. All these agencies were involved, and all lied through their teeth to congress and to the American people. They have disgraced themselves and their agencies and it will take a long time to rebuild the trust once held in them.

The heads of these agencies Susan Rice at NSA, Loretta Lynch at DOJ, James Comey and Andrew McCabe at FBI, John Brennan and James Clapper at CIA all lied repeatedly about evidence of Russian collusion in the election. For three years there was hardly anything reported in the mainstream media except Russian collusion. The people I just mentioned were repeatedly on the news programs stating that they had clear and concrete evidence of Russian involvement when no such evidence existed.

 When they testified before congress, they were very careful to state that they knew of no evidence or that they didn’t recall seeing any. We now know that this happened because congress has the documentary evidence to prove it....

A JOURNAL OF THE PLAGUE YEAR—FREE SPEECH AND DR. JUDY MIKOVITS

Hello, this is Darrell Castle with today’s Castle Report. Today is Friday, May 8, 2020, the 75th anniversary of VE or Victory in Europe Day.  VE Day is a national holiday in Great Britain as the British people pause for one day to celebrate the defeat of Nazi Germany. Today’s Report, however, will discuss the virus, the invisible enemy against which the whole world makes war, not the visible enemy of WW ll. For the Castle family, this is day 49 or seven weeks of quarantine. Forty-nine days without any other human contact. The family daughter remains safe on a small island at the bottom of the world with no flights in or out of the island for who knows how long.

Last week’s Castle Report provoked one of my faithful listeners to accuse me of hypocrisy in the comment section so I might as well address his inquiry right now. His comment was partially in jest but also serious, He pointed out that I favor re-opening the economy for others, but I remain in quarantine. What kind of ex-Marine, Constitution Party member is that he wonders? You tell us to do one thing but do another yourself.

I recognize a certain degree of hypocrisy in my position, but as I pointed out to the gentleman both my wife and I are over 65 and we have a law firm with many employees for whom we feel a certain responsibility. We, therefore, transferred the employees to work from home status until it is acceptable to reopen according to our local governing authority. In addition, my daughter encourages me each night by video to stay in and stay safe. Finally, I suppose it’s like the Arab proverb, I trust God, but I still tether my camel each night.

For emphasis, I will quote a gentleman from the news site, The Rundown, “I favor opening, but since I have several risk factors in addition to advanced age, I will endeavor to be careful because I don’t think that I would survive if I’m infected with COVID-19. That said, I want my country and my community to survive. We should all be careful, but we should open and not kill the country.” That is not my situation, but it makes my point.

Another subscriber to the same site, “I am obeying the stay-at-home order, and I only go out for medication and food, so I’m doing as told. And if I am correct, the airlines plan to get federal money for their problems, but I have no idea where my stimulus check is. Personally, I am not going to rebound from this situation easily, and I’m probably not the only one.”

No, my friend you are indeed in good company. The economic cost of the lockdown will be devastating for many and perhaps permanent both economically and medically.

U.S. private payrolls dropped 20.2 million in April, the most extreme drop since the Great Depression. I have little doubt that many companies and industries will be permanently destroyed or at least permanently affected. Last Tuesday Hertz Corporation announced that it has hired a company to help it plan for a Chapter 11 filing. That is the proper tactic for a company that depends on travel and there is no travel for months and perhaps a year. What is it to do with billions of debt and no revenue, except seek protection in Chapter 11? How many cars does Hertz operate each day? How many cars does it buy each year? What happens to the car and truck industry if all that activity suddenly stops permanently? Many industries already in trouble are being pushed over the edge by the lockdown. Retail has been, and is being devastated, perhaps permanently. Retail giant J. Crew just announced its liquidation bankruptcy filing, and high-end Neiman Marcus has just filed for Chapter 11 protection and reorganization. According to the trade publications that I read each day, many companies are avoiding Chapter 11 because they do not have the financial ability to reorganize. If they were to seek Chapter 11 protection they could not escape and would end in Chapter 7 liquidation, so they struggle on.

How is the federal government going to bail out the retail industry? The answer is that it can’t because people may never go back to the malls to spend on credit and accumulate unpayable debt. This whole consumption based, credit-backed, house of cards upon which this society rests could be about to crumble. There are many other industries whose troubles are in danger of going permanent. Look at the airlines and the entire travel industry. Overseas travel is now practically nonexistent. That means reduced demand for pilots and crew members, reduced airport staff, rental cars and their staffs, merchandise and food sales at airports all over the world.

If the information provided recently by several doctors turns out to be true, then all this economic devastation not to mention the enormous human cost will have been unnecessary. That would be a charitable word to describe what could be described as an accusation of manslaughter for profit. I’ve been following the work of Dr. Dan Erickson, an emergency medicine doctor and researcher from California, as well as Dr. Judy Mikovits, a scientist formerly with the National Cancer Institute. I strongly advise everyone to investigate their work if Google/You Tube will allow it.

Dr. Erickson owns a few ER Urgent Care Clinics in California, especially in the county where Bakersfield is located. When asked by local media for his results he invited them to a press conference, which was recorded and put out on you tube. He gave statistics and results from his roughly 6,000 COVID-19 tests, as well as his conclusions. YouTube quickly took down his video because YouTube only allows the official narrative to be seen but 12 million viewers around the world saw it before they could take it down.

What is wrong with allowing Dr. Erickson to express his opinion about whether the lockdown was a mistake or not? I saw his original video and then I saw an interview done by Sebastian Gorka for his podcast. That interview was also taken down within 24 hours, but Mr. Gorka says he will keep trying to get the information out. During the interview, Dr. Erickson compared the mortality numbers for Sweden, a country without lockdown, and Great Britain, a country completely locked down. Sweden has a death rate of 245 per one million population and Great Britain has a death rate of 360 per one million population.

He also mentioned that many doctors from around the country have told him that they have been pressured to list COVID-19 as a cause of death. Why would the system, the hospital, pressure a doctor to list a cause of death other than what he thinks it is or when he doesn’t know what it is?  For one thing, they are paid by the federal government $13,000 for a hospitalized COVID-19 patient, and $37,000 for one on a ventilator, even if ventilated patients fail to survive 88% of the time.

Why should we, the American people, be denied the privilege of hearing the evidence and research conclusions of these doctors? Many reasons, I suppose, but one of the main reasons is that we do not have reporters anymore, not many anyway. Instead of reporters we have commentators. Instead of researching and reporting on the truth as they are able to discover it, they simply spout out the accepted and official narrative. They are, by their own admission and by their voting patterns, always biased so, they no longer investigate and report the news. We get the propaganda of their agenda since their agenda has driven them since at least journalism school. Unless they adhere to that agenda faithfully, they will not be hired, and they will not stay hired.

There seems to be a concerted effort among the tech giants such as Google/YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter to suppress any search for the truth. Resisting any information except the official narrative as it reflects their own political agenda almost makes them an arm of the government. Since they are not government agencies, but private corporations they are free to suppress any search for the truth even though they control at least 90% of available search information.

Dr. Judy Mikovits, whom I mentioned last week, as well as her book, “Plague of Corruption” is a whole different subject from Dr. Erickson. Dr. Mikovits is not an M.D. but is instead, a scientist having spent at least 20 years with the National Cancer Institute. In the forward to her book, Robert Kennedy Jr. referred to her as one of the most accomplished scientists of this generation. Instead of being rewarded for her relentless pursuit of the truth she has been fired by the National Cancer Institute, persecuted, arrested and jailed without a warrant or even charges, driven into bankruptcy, and she has been deprived of her life’s work. She was eventually accused of stealing intellectual property from the Institute. I don’t know for sure, but I assume that was the paper she wrote concerning her AIDS research.

Her complaints and accusations should be investigated not silenced. Why do the controllers of all information fear this woman so much? Why will they not allow her to publicly speak her mind so that her accusations can be investigated. The accusations she makes concern the future of all humanity, so it is rather important that she at least be heard.  She has accused Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx, the two Drs. you see each day in the president’s news conferences, of being involved in decades of corruption which has resulted in the deaths of millions of people and will continue to do so unless it is stopped.

The essence of what she alleges is that she isolated and discovered the A.I.D.s virus in about 1981 but Dr. Fauci would not let her publish her findings and intentionally delayed release of the information until 1984 so that he could obtain the patent on the treatment. A JOURNAL OF THE PLAGUE YEAR—THE COURAGE TO DO NOTHING

Hello, this is Darrell Castle with today’s Castle Report. Today is Friday, May 1, 2020, and on this Report, I will be talking about the virus once again, the plague that threatens humanity in many ways. The invisible enemy upon which we wage war. This is Day 42 of House Arrest for the Castle family, so six full weeks we have been confined with only a little time each day for a walk in the sunshine. The family daughter is making do while confined to a small island unable to return until airlines are flying again. I have a friend who went to Argentina for a couple of weeks and is stuck there until at least September 1, since flights both out and in have been banned until then.

It is certainly a strange world that we live in today. In some ways it seems that we have different realities inside our heads, or perhaps we live in parallel universes. Fifty years ago, I boarded an airplane at Travis Air Force Base in California and got off in a different world, so just like that I was transported to a different reality.

 A simple definition of parallel would be two lines running the same direction, but which never intersect. That is a good definition of the two realities that people live in regarding our virus today. Everybody knows by now what the virus is, but we disagree completely on what the national response should be. Unfortunately, our lack of agreement seems to be running along political as well as parallel lines.

The two separate views are as follows:

1.  View number 1 is that the virus is very scary and extremely serious. It is so serious that if you leave your home you will get sick and possibly die. If you have your lawn mowed by a lawn service, you will get sick. If you get a haircut you will get sick. If you attend church, even six feet apart, you will get sick. Should you have any human contact at all, especially if you are over 65, you will get sick.

2.   View number 2 is that the virus, and our reaction to it, is a complete farce. The lockdown is a ridiculous over-reaction akin to mass suicide. We have been turned into lemmings by the government and are now being herded toward the cliff. This lockdown is not about health at all, but is instead, an exercise in mass compliance.

There are exceptions to this, but it seems to me that the two realities break down along political lines with the left view being more akin to number one and the right view being more akin to number two. Keep in mind that for most people, whichever view they hold it is their reality. I suppose it doesn’t occur to people that their view could be incorrect and simply held to reinforce a political viewpoint. Upon that political view could rest the national health and economy.

In any event, the longer the lockdown continues the more sense view number two makes. I know that hindsight is 20-20, and that it is easy to second guess people in crisis decision making, but let’s look at some of the evidence that we currently have. By its own admission, the CDC sent out faulty tests, including some already contaminated with the virus. Doctors, nurses, and anyone who expressed views opposed to the official narrative of where the virus came from and how serious it is. and would be., were sidelined, fired, marginalized, etc.

Many of those people were heroes on the front lines of battle. They were concerned with the welfare of their people rather than politics or money. A recent book, which I can recommend to you, now explains much of the problem. It was written by a doctor named Judy Mikovits, co-authored by a lawyer named Kent Heckenlively, with a forward by Robert Kennedy Jr. The title of the book is “Plague of Corruption”, and it is a very disturbing account.

Dr. Mikovits is not the only doctor with this point-of-view. She is just one going public with a book. There are many other doctors who, one by one, are coming forward and risking their careers. They are no longer willing to watch while potentially life saving information is censored and withheld by the tech giants who control our access to information.

Doctor Dan Erickson is an ER Physician from Bakersfield California who also owns an urgent care clinic which has performed thousands of virus tests. His conclusion is that confinement in quarantine is not only without benefit, but it is actually harmful because it weakens immunity. His view is that we should only quarantine the sick, not the healthy. He asks the question what kind of society forces perfectly healthy people into confinement in their homes? He says that when he hears the expression that we must stay safe he knows that is an effort to control the American people. That is not a quote from Dr. Erickson but the best paraphrase I can give you.

Doctor Cameron Kyle- Siddel from NYC says that in his experience, which is extensive, ventilators are harmful to patients. 88% of patients placed on ventilators do not survive according to Dr. Siddel. He is the doctor who reported that treating patients with ventilation was like treating them on Mount Everest. In other words, they are deprived of oxygen and ventilation is then harmful.

A nurse from Portland Oregon who wishes to remain anonymous reports that in her city hospital many ICU units are completely empty. Hospitals are laying off staff and closing floors. The same is reportedly true in California hospitals. Laid off nurses are starting to talk now because I suppose their reasoning is why not. They are revealing empty hospitals and the evidence is 800,000 laid off hospital workers.

In the meantime, the federal government gets to order people around, and how the feds love to look for enemies, or even make some if they are hard to find. The voters are always being rallied to some national cause which requires their sacrifice. Everything must be bigger, and greater than the last boondoggle. Joe Biden, unsatisfied with the 2.2 trillion of non-existent money said, “the next stimulus needs to be a hell of a lot bigger.” Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin said, “this is war so we must spend what it takes.”

Its not just the federal government which oversteps its bounds. Unfortunately, state and local governments in certain localities are even worse. For example, in New York City a congregation of Orthodox Jews in the Bronx held a funeral service for their dead Rabbi. Mayor Bill de Blasio sent armed police with instructions to break up the funeral and summon or arrest the attendees. That is a very frightening example of what some of the petty tyrants in America have taken it upon themselves to do. Fear, it seems, presents tyranny with an opportunity.

The police action against peaceful people honoring their rabbi on the occasion of his death brings to mind the question of whether the police will support the American people and the Constitution, which they take an oath to serve and protect, or whether they will obey the illegal orders of their tyrant boss. The members of the NYC Police Department have answered that question for us. Other church congregations in other areas attending services sitting in their cars were issued $500 tickets by the local police. I suppose the police officers do not see the issue or understand what is at stake.

It takes courage to do nothing. Bill de Blasio could have said those Jews are grieving and besides, they are not hurting anyone so leave them alone. The NYC police could have said we will not obey such an illegal order but neither one of them did, and as a result America sunk just a little deeper toward police state tyranny.

The government tyrants seem to want everything and everyone working in lockstep with top down command. Control of a completely isolated world is their agenda.  For the most part, they are elected officials, but that doesn’t seem to occur to them or at least it doesn’t dissuade them. Elected dictator is a title, which apparently did not end with World War Two.

In addition to using the virus as an excuse to destroy our liberty and Constitutional rights including among others, freedom of assembly, freedom of speech, and freedom of religion, they are destroying our ability to work and earn a living and with those go the American standard of living. We have been prepping for this for many years since we switched to bank currency backed by nothing but promises. Along with debasing the currency, we hollowed out our manufacturing base through offshoring so that 70% of our economy is consumption.

We try to stimulate that once great consumption by giving away free money, but everything is closed, so there is nothing to consume. The result is a decline in real incomes or a declining standard of living. If the actual cost of living is going up faster than your income is rising, the only way you can make ends meet is through borrowing. So, we are currently at the tail end of a decades-long debt binge at all levels from national governments down to individual wage earners. The whole system, including states, municipalities, and corporations are completely mired down in debt.

The federal government, in conjunction with the Federal Reserve, panics and says we will fix this by printing money and buying all the debt and carrying it on our books forever through paying interest only. We will intimidate the Federal Reserve into lowering interest rates to zero, so we don’t even have to pay that. The laws of economics that have existed for thousands of years have suddenly been repealed.

The federal government missed a chance for a critical lesson coming from all this. It was missed because it takes something not found in the federal government anymore, and that is the courage to do nothing....
