Dorothy and Clive are both trying to obtain the Arts Studio, Billy is coming to terms with his blindness and Tom is still very disconsolate about the death of his son Sammy and the loss of his boat.

Tom is blaming himself for the accident at sea involving the loss of his son and the blinding of Billy. Clive is now planning a health food store, also opposed by Dorothy. The Saturday market takes place as usual.

Alice and Tom are stoically mourning the death of their son Sammy, Marjory is managing the pub helped by Alice while Billy, who lost his sight in the accident, is now back upstairs fretting.

Disaster has hit the fishing trip when a storm blew up capsizing the boat drowning Tom’s son Sammy. Billy Meradith goes out in his boat to rescue them and also has an accident. They are saved by the Lifeboat crew but Billy ends up in hospital after hitting his head.

Jeremy has caught Clive canoolding with his wife Beth and then finds himself with Clive on a fishing trip with Clive on Tom’s boat. Alice, Tom’s wife is not very happy about the fishing trip either and meets up with Billy and Marge at the Castlewick Light.

Dorothy is gaining support in her fight against Clive’s plans for a marina, however Clive has found another interest, in Beth, Jeremy’s wife.

Dorothy Peggs has set up an action group against Clive’s plans to develop Castlewick harbour into a commercial marina and the Church Fete was ruined by a group of protestors led by Jeremy.

Beth and Jeremy have patched up their relationship, for the time being; Dorothy Peggs has resigned from the fete committee now her rolls have been taken over by Major Peacock and Mary Taggart. Clive Blades is looking to expand trade in Castlewick which results in a visit from Dorothy.
