About Brady: Brady Rourke joined the Maryland Athletics Department as Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services and Director of the Gossett Student Athlete Center for Academic and Personal Excellence in September 2019. In his role, Rourke leads student-athlete academic services for 550 student-athletes representing 20 athletic teams. In addition to his work in Athletics, Rourke is also a member of the Office of Undergraduate Studies Administrative Council.Â
Prior to Maryland, Rourke served as Executive Director of the Student Learning Center at Appalachian State University, where he was instrumental in revolutionizing the Student Learning Center and served on numerous committees within academic affairs, enrollment management, and athletics. Prior to Appalachian State, Rourke served as Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services at West Virginia University (2014-2016), Associate Director for Student-Athlete Services at Syracuse University (2013-2014), Academic Counselor at Penn State University (2007-2013), and Academic Counselor at Arizona State University (2006-2007).  Rourke graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Services Education (2003), before earning his Master of Education in Higher Education Administration (2006). Rourke is an active member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) and served on the Board of Directors (2014-2019). Rourke was selected for and remains an active member of Leadership Howard County, which presents an opportunity for leaders to see beyond their own work or personal environments to the broader interests of the community. Rourke and his wife Amanda reside in Ellicott City, MD and have three sons: Brennon, Easton, and Shane.Â

About Dr Elliot Smithson:
He got his undergraduate degree from University of Central Florida in Athletic Training, a Masters from Marshall University in Athletic Training, and a doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, and has been working in sports and entertainment medicine since 2013. He transitioned into esports medicine in 2019, and became co-founder and a lead clinician for 1-HP and the E-Sports Health & Performance Institute. Additionally, he runs an outpatient sports therapy clinic in Beverly Hills and works with a number of teams and schools to make sure players have the best health and performance programming possible.

Leadership involves more than giving orders. Effective leaders walk the talk. In this audio from his presentation, David discusses what he believes are the necessary qualities of leadership, presented through humor and his factual accounts.
Objectives:
Bio: One of the most passionate athlete safety advocates you will meet, David Csillan is currently a part time athletic trainer with The Hun School in Princeton, NJ. David holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education with a focus on Athletic Training from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey) and a Master's Degree in Athletic Training from Old Dominion University. Prior to The Hun School he served as an athletic trainer at Ewing High School in New Jersey since 1991. Additionally, he provided medical services for events like the TCS New York City Marathon and Special Olympics New Jersey. During his career, David played a pivotal role in advancing the athletic training profession. He was President of the Athletic Trainers' Society in New Jersey, helping the state pass legislation to award certificates and tenure to eligible secondary school athletic trainers. He also worked on transitioning New Jersey's Athletic Training Practice Act from registration to licensure. David co-chaired the NATA Inter-Association Task Force on Preseason Heat Acclimatization Guidelines for Secondary School Athletics and led New Jersey to be the first state to adopt these guidelines, and has presented on this topic through various media outlets. In 2018, he collaborated with multiple organizations to develop policies aimed at reducing secondary school athletic catastrophic injuries in New Jersey. He co-authored NATA position statements on exertional heat injuries and the prevention of sudden death in athletics. David held leadership roles in NATA District Two and currently chairs the NATA District Secretaries'/Treasurers' Committee, co-chairs the EATA '49 Club Committee and 75th Anniversary Committee, and serves as a reviewer for the NATA Journal of Athletic Training and on the Editorial Board for Training and Conditioning magazine. His contributions to the field have earned him induction into several Halls of Fame, including the National Athletic Trainers' Association, New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association, Athletic Trainers' Society of New Jersey, and Ewing High School Athletics.

Chris Flores, ATC aka âFLOâ author of âBuild Your Legacyâ is a father, entrepreneur, professor, and personal coach. He has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years. Heâs driven by a passion and love for working with people and seeing the changes in their lives. Chris attended Kean University for his B.S. in Athletic Training. He was previously the head Athletic Trainer at Westfield High School in New Jersey for 10 years, and is returning to this role full time in the fall of 2023. He is the owner of a personal training studio called Flo Fitness. Chris is an adjunct professor at Kean University where he teaches strength fitness, personal fitness and animal flow. He is also a Master Instructor for the company Animal Flow and teaches movement-based training for people around the globe. All these jobs and positions helped him learn about people. When he became a father, he pulled from all his life experiences to write the book âBuild Your Legacyâ. It is a guide and blueprint for his children as well as for others to help teach them how to navigate life and build their own legacies.
