This week, is Apple being hypocritical about the company’s commitment to keeping your information private? New security measures planned for the next iOS are garnering heated reactions, even forcing Apple to delay their launch. One uses an onboard AI to block potentially harmful images (I.e., nudes) from being sent to children and teens. Another scans your photos - shared on iCloud - to monitor for illegal content, such as child pornography. Is this overreach by Apple, and a glimpse of them monitoring your private life? Or has the company developed a method to monitor for criminal activity (like their competitors) with as much of a hands-off approach as possible? We discuss.
Then, Microsoft Offices (pun intended) remain closed! With the COVID Delta Variant on the rise, the company is choosing to keep many employees remote. This goes counter to their tech giant competitors, Apple and Google, who are threatening employees who refuse to return to the office with things like pay cuts. What benefit does each decision have for each company? How will the Biden Administration’s new vaccine plan impact each company’s decision in remote vs in-office? And is this move by Microsoft a slight flex of their remote work functions? It’s all open for discussion!
