Somewhere along the line I became the rebellious woman. I left behind the sweet and lovely, pearls strewn on the ground by my bare feet. I dove into the dark soil. The worms became my friends and new monsters, previously invisible, slithered by my shivering skin as I stared into the sockets where eyes would have been. The light on the surface means something new to me now.

Growing up I wanted people to come to me for advice. They never did...until I started exploring my own darkness. In the darkness, I learned to find light. The ability to find light in the darkness is such a precious and deeply needed skill. People come for miles to anyone who can shine the light for them. "I want you to know that you are an inspiration to my daughter. She says she strives to be like you when she’s older. Just thought you’d appreciate hearing that. Keep it up because you never know how you might inspire and empower!" --- a message I received today reminds me to keep creating from a place of love, joy and curiosity. Life as an artist is full of rich challenges and many times I consider quitting or doing something 'easier'. However, it's never easy to quit and I never find something easier. I just need a break. The break recharges me and then I don't want to quit. If I avoid my creative work, everything else just gets harder. Life is easier when we create. Keep creating for yourself, for each other, for the fun of it, for the moments when it really matters. Let the rest go. Enjoy your creative freedom as yo move through all the phases of being.
