  • S21 E2 – Hudson Valley Design Leader Maryline Damour
Maryline Damour is a designer based in Kingston, New York. Damour worked in marketing for most of her adult life until she bought a house in Kingston and began to wonder about the viability of working on interiors. But she dismissed the idea until an earthquake in her native Haiti helped her understand the importance of interior design and pushed her into her new career, which has included the restoration of a damaged but structurally-sound Haitian church.

Buster + Punch's physical store in London's Shoreditch neighborhood
Welcome back to The Chaise Lounge. In the first episode of season 21, Nick talks to Stockholm-based, London-born designer Massimo Minale, founder of Buster + Punch a home fashion and custom motorcycle company that he started as a way to feel more creatively fulfilled after days of putting effort into architecture projects he might never see turn into a building.

After making bikes for such clients as Keith Richards, Minale found himself getting requests for furniture that matched the aesthetic of the bikes, resulting in The Rockstar Bar. From there, Buster + Punch moved toward making fashionable home products that were just a step up from the local hardware store without being ludicrously expensive. As an architect, Minale was often frustrated by the process of sourcing pieces both liked and was happy budgeting for. So Buster + Punch launched a line of fashion light switches consumers and designers could be excited to use and be happy to pay for.

To see more of what Buster + Punch is doing, visit busterandpunch.us or busterandpunch.com and follow on Instagram @busterandpunch to see how the products look in action and the anouncement of new products.

My original goal was to get people interested in interiors that never thought they would be interested in interiors.

Office space design by upcoming guest Maryline Damour
Starting next week, The Chaise Lounge will begin to come out in seasons. Tuesday, Feb. 5 will be see the release of the season 21 premier episode featuring Massimo Minale, founder of Buster + Punch. Why season 21? Because the Chaise Lounge is a red-blooded American podcast, and with all Nick's talk about beer, wine or a cocktail, the show should be "old enough" to partake.

This preview also includes a special conversation with the hosts of iMay Media's new podcast Coast to Coast Design, Garrison Hulinger and Catherine Hersacher.

If you need to sit in on more conversations with designers , visit coasttocoastpodcast.com to start listening.

  • 273 – Entrepreneurs Justin Riordan and Bria Hammel
    Welcome!
Over the weekend, The Chaise Lounge posted a version of this episode that mistakenly included an older conversation with Bria Hammel instead of a more recent conversation (that came as the result of the first conversation). This episode was uploaded to replace the one posted on Saturday and now includes Nick's chat with Bria, as well as the full explanation of "Cocktails and Conversations", and how to 10 people will be able to get free copies.

Today in The Lounge, Nick sits down with designer Bria Hammel, as well as Justin Riordan of Spade and Archer. Nick and Bria focus on the trivialities of managing teams and finding the work-life balance. Justin and Nick discuss a variety of topics including cheerleading, drawing floor plans, and of course, everything that home staging encapsulates.
