  • 980 Fest

This past weekend, Biscuit podcast host beings Charlotte Is Creative held the inaugural 980 Fest at Divine Barrel Brewing in NoDa. In a city that welcomes new people by the droves each day, 980 Fest aims to be a connection point for those new residents to the people, programs and organizations that help make Charlotte strong.

In today's episode of the Biscuit podcast, Matt and Tim kick off the show, which was recorded live at Divine Barrel Brewing, and then Andy talks to many of the event's attendees including Amanda Fowler of OrthoCarolina, CLT Avengers Josh Galloway and Garrick McFadden, and Michelle Houck of the Carolina Raptor Center.

  • Taiwo Jaiyeoba | Hola Charlotte

Hope you're hungry... IT'S BISCUIT TIME! Hopefully, after hearing our brand new theme song, you'll have this little earworm with you the rest of the day.

After that - ahem - experience, dive right into a can't-miss conversation with Taiwo Jaiyeoba, Charlotte's Chief City Planner, Assistant City Manager and speaker at the October 11 Creative Mornings event held at Ovens Auditorium. Hosts Tim Miner and Matt Olin lead you through a wonderful talk with Taiwo that puts his humor, professionalism and knowledge on display.

Right after that, you'll hear producer Andy Goh talk to guests at CMCLT about what scares them most in Charlotte. We thought it would be a fun play on Halloween, but it ended up being a profound look at a shared concern among Charlotteans.

Finally, we take you for a walk down Tryon Street in Uptown during this past weekend's Indian Festival and Hola Charlotte. We get eats and hear amazing music from both unique cultures.

  • ATC10K 2020 | Shan Wallace

It seems like it was just a month ago that we talked to Brian and Chelsea Mister about the first ever Around the Crown 10K that closed down 277 for a first-of-its-kind road race in Charlotte. Well, that's because it *was* just a month ago.

Just last night, Brian and the ATC10K team announced the 2020 date of the ATC10K at NoDa Brewing Company. It's a big announcement, because the race will shift from a fall to a spring date in 2020 because of the RNC and other events.

What is the date of the 2020 ATC10K? Tune in to find out.

In the second segment of the podcast, we hear from Shan Wallace, as she talks about Sisters With Stories, a portrait project she created in partnership with the YWCA.

The Biscuit Podcast is produced by Tim Miner, Matt Olin and Andy Goh. Music by Harvey Cummings.

After that, Matt Olin speaks with Armah Shiancoe, founder of the local community service non-profit Give 'N Go.

In between, Nikki Eason gives us her final Mogul Moment... for now!

The Biscuit is back and you're gonna be in trouble! The latest episode of the Biscuit podcast starts of with an incredibly raw and real interview with Erin Santos, conducted by Tim Miner. Nikki Eason tells you why you should be like water in another riveting Mogul Moment.

  • Rosalia Torres Weiner and Meredith Dean

In the latest segment of Creative Mornings Rewind, Matt Olin talks to Rosalia Torres Weiner in her mobile art truck. • Yung Citizen plus Becky and Tony Santoro

Yung Citizen is a hip hop producer and rapper, whose project, The F.I.T EP was released earlier this summer. The four track work looks at the authenticity of friendships in the digital era, satisfaction with one’s self and the rapper’s ode to his unborn daughter. You’ll hear his story first in the latest segment of Liner Notes.

Second, hear head biscuit baker Tim Miner talk to Becky and Tony Santoro of Enderly Coffee Company in another segment of Creative Besties. Becky and Tony’s second venture, Foster Village, won $20,000 dollars at Seed 20 in 2019. Being a creative partner with someone is one thing, but being married to them is another.

Don’t miss the next Mogul Moment from Nikki Eason in between segments.

  • Around the Crown 10K with Brian and Chelsea Mister

On Sunday, September first, the Around the Crown 10K will shut down the inner loop of the I-277 interstate to run the most ambitious road race in this city’s history. The race is the brainchild of Brian and Chelsea Mister, both avid runners. In the first segment of today’s podcast, I’ll talk to Brian and Chelsea about what moment lead to the idea of running a race on 277, the logistical and safety hurdles they had to clear, and whether or not they would have done the race at all if it couldn’t be on 277.

Stick around through the end of the show as we have another Mogul Moment from Nikki Eason, and we wrap the show with head Biscuit-maker Matt Olin interviewing Charlotte Is Creative social media guy Porter Metzler.

    Let’s take a listen!
