The Children's Hour

We continue our exploration of the Bill of Rights this week on The Children's Hour with a show about the 2nd and 3rd Amendments with Micah McCoy from the ACLU-NM. We learn many ways the 2nd Amendment is interpreted, and why it's so contentious. Then we discover the reason soldiers can't just move into our houses. Plus we hear from the kids in the Extinction Diaries about the Sixth Great Extinction. We also pay homage to the late, great Rudolfo Anaya.

This time on The Children’s Hour, we start a four part series on the Bill of Rights with Micah McCoy from the ACLU New Mexico. We’ll learn about how the fruits of fungi are the smallest parts of these incredible organisms, which can be found everywhere in nature from the tops of mountains to the bottom of the sea, and how they are a part of all living and dead creatures on Earth.

We like this site with resources for teachers, parents, and kids from the North American Mycological Association that's broken down by age and grade level.  Find books for young people on mycology here.  This Utah State site is full of puzzles, games, and more educational resources about fungi and lichens. We also hear from a school social worker Ruth Graunke about strategies to stay calm in crisis, and we visit with Alice Lu McCoy, from the New Mexico Developmental Disabilities Planning Council about making an extra effort to connect with kids and adults who are living in residential facilities.

This week on The Children’s Hour, we try to make cents of money with Dr. Reilly White from the University of New Mexico, Associate Professor of Finance at the Anderson School of Management. We learn the history of currency and how interest, donations, and savings works. With great music and more!
