How much screen time is too much for kids? This week on The Children's Hour we explore digital devices, addiction, and kids. Our crew discuss their own use of screens, and what they think about how they use their devices.  Dr. Kristina Sowar visits our studio to answer our questions about the mental health impacts of screen time on kids. We also hear from technology pioneer Dom Sagolla who has advice for kids about self control and screens.

How can we unlock family stories through songs? Musician and educator Michael Napolitano from Michael and the Rockness Monsters gives us tips on how to learn your family history through music at your holiday tables.  Then, second graders in Ms. Antillon's classroom in downtown Albuquerque's Coronado Elementary School teach us about the legendary Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo.

This week on The Children's Hour, join us for a live broadcast from the Museum of the American Military Family in Tijeras, New Mexico. How does having a parent serving in the armed forces impact a family? This museum is set up to look like a military family's home during World War 2 and is filled with memorabilia and more. Featuring musical guest, Rowan McJimsey and the Boy Scouts of New Mexico Troop 185.

This week on The Children’s Hour, we’re all familiar with nursery rhymes like row your boat, but what’s the soundtrack of a New Mexican childhood? Dr. Enrique LaMadrid explores the folk songs of New Mexico with our kids crew, in a lively discussion that includes some tunes meant to sing along. Does an animal have to be adorable to be appreciated? This week on The Children's Hour, we're covering unappreciated animals.  How do commonly animals like snakes, bugs, lizards and others fit into the web of life? Our friend Bethany Dunn, Science Education Coordinator from the Albuquerque Biopark will bring some misunderstood species to our studio to help us learn to love them.
