Mpumalanga, Nelspruit but grew up in Johannesburg majority of her life. She is an RnB/ Soul artist that believes has so much to offer to this industry. She believes that God gave her this gift to heal hearts and bring comfort in brokenness. She says “I mainly want to bring comfort to those that may feel lonely. I want my music to make people feel better or voice out exactly how they feel. Emotions are very fragile yet crucial as human beings and I want my music to be a positive remedy for life’s

problem”. Her music is mainly very natural, smooth and warm.

PLOT; For our gig guide this evening, celerating the first weekend of Janaury 2023, we are joined on the line by an artist born in 1979 in the town of Mthatha in the Eastern Cape province, Poswa studied surface design at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. She draws on this knowledge to amalgamate the visual stimuli she encounters in her daily life intoa simplified pattern language. In 2006, she and fellow ceramicist Andile Dyalvane openedtheir studio, Imiso Ceramics (Imiso meaning “tomorrow”).

Southern Guild presents uBuhle boKhokho (Beauty of Our Ancestors), a solo exhibition by Zizipho Poswa, from 17 November 2022 to 2 February, 2023. This new series of ceramic and bronze sculptures draws inspiration from the elaborate art of hairstyling practised by Black women across the African continent and diaspora.

Kopano Cowen is a South African Executive Producer and Creative in the television space with over 17 years of experience. A storied veteran of the TV creative space, Kopano started her career in 2005 as a Production Assistant with the full-service communications company Studio Zoo, where her focus was on promoproduction and scripting, before moving to Creative Vision in 2007 as a Production Manager specialising in commercials and features.

Senzo Shabangu is a multidimensional artist who was born in the village of Driefontein, Mpumalanga and spent a large part of his childhood living at an apostolic mission station. Imagery from this time in his life features regularly in his work. His work explores space, alienation, and identity.

Shabangu often places city landscapes emerging from below and suspended above his characters creating an almost claustrophobic sense of being surrounded by the city. Within this theme, Shabangu also deals with movement in the city and how people are moved. Many of his works look at how people live and the politics surrounding forced removals.

American express has launched an arts initiative in South Africa that celebratesthe vibrancy of Africa and the welcoming spirit that South Africans are knownfor.The challenge: create a graphic pattern that creatively responds to the theme“The vibrant African marketplace - everyone’s welcome”. American Express will choose up to five winning works, which will then appear on posters and signageat merchants who accept American Express cards.Each winner will receive R100 000 and have their work publicly exhibited at theKeyes Art Mile in Rosebank, Johannesburg, in March 2023.
