Actress and TV and film producer Dineo Lusenga is driven by the need to create work that creates a positive social impact. Her first acting job was on Intersexions, a seminal show that highlighted the crisscrossing of people’s sexual encounters and the importance of being responsible.

In 2012, she hosted a youth talk show called Ek’se Lalela that centred on conversations about the future of young people in South Africa. Living Land is the latest show she presented on SABC 2, which exposes young people to the world of agriculture.

The main goal of the Global Hand Hygiene Day campaign is to recognize that handwashing is one of the most effective actions you can take to reduce the spread of pathogens and prevent infections, including the COVID-19 virus.

With special Covid-19 protocols in place, Joburg Theatre patrons will be able to enjoy two live performances of Cantiamo – Mzansi Opera Celebration, while opera lovers worldwide can stream the production from the comfort of their homes on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October. All performances are at 19:30. The one-hour Cantiamo – Mzansi Opera Celebration will feature music from Bellini’s I Puritani, Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Verdi’s La Traviata, together with a selection of local compositions showcasing South Africa’s contribution to the global opera repertoire.

On the 10th of October 2020 people around the world will mark World Homeless Day in many varied ways and change the lives of people experiencing homelessness in their local community. World Homeless Day is an annual event on the 10th of October. Sheltersuit is a non-profit organization providing immediate shelter to the homeless, while using upcycled materials and providing jobs. It was founded in 2014 by fashion designer and now social entrepreneur Bas Timmer in The Netherlands. Today, Sheltersuit operates in South Africa, The Netherlands, USA, and the UK.

Word on the street is an Anti-Substance abuse organization aiming to assist addicts to overcome their habits by taking them to a rehabilitation centres. Thus far, word on the street has managed to help over 53 (plus) individuals to various rehabilitation centres across the country.

The founder of word on the street is Itumeleng Selepe, a recovering drug addict who was addicted to cocaine and cat for 11 years. Itumeleng has now been clean for 5 years. As a recovering addict himself, Itumeleng knows the life on the drug streets, he is able to relate to the addicts, meet them at their level and assist them with starting their journey of recovery.
