Senate Republicans exercised their first legislative filibuster of the Biden presidency on Friday to block debate on a bill that would establish a 9/11-style commission to investigate the January 6 attack on the US Capitol building. The final vote was 54-35 in favor but required 60 votes to move forward. The US House of Representatives passed the bill on May 19.
