The CHoopin It Up Podcast

WE ARE BACK.......really this time.

Aaron Rodgers achilles brings the boys of the CHoopin It Up Podcast back into the makeshift studio. We talk his potential return, the NBA regular season tournament, Mark Cuban for President, & have a host of technical difficulties that we worked right through like the professionals we are. Hope you enjoy!

It's been waaaaay too long but a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association proposal that would allow high school athletes to profit off of their names, images, & likenesses came through & we knew we had to record about it. A lot on social media was doom & gloom about how this will be the end of high school athletics. The three of us aren't really sure how this is going to play out but we wanted to give our perspectives & get the perspectives of some others such as Jack Kelly, friend of the show & new girls basketball coach of Council Rock North high school & local sports reporting legend in northeast Pennsylvania, Joby Fawcett.

We're also bigtime sports fans so you know we had to talk about some rookies who've impressed in the NBA Summer League & where Kevin Durant is going to end up.

So happy to have Jack joining us via the power of the internet. Glad we can give him a platform to spew his LeBron hate (opinions of Jack are his own & not the opinions of the CHoopin It Up Podcast). We also talk about Tiger Woods' return to The Masters, the NCAA transfer portal, & women's college basketball having more star power than on the men's side.

A lot of this podcast is 3rd time guest Jason Kenny & 1st time guest Brad Kalinowski going at each other but in the midst of that we did talk about some of the big sports stories that happened this week including Aaron Rodgers returning to the Green Bay Packers, Russell Wilson being traded to the Denver Broncos, & an early look at who we think has a chance to make a run in the NCAA Tournament.

Our podcast is officially "over the hill" as we reach our 30th episode. It's also our 1 year anniversary of doing this show so to celebrate we had to bring in a guest who's been apart of the show since the beginning. Our guy Runco was enjoying a nice day out at the Golden Gate Bridge but was able to join us via satelite.

We are back to being "The 2 White Guys Podcast" this week as our guy Tanner was coaching a basketball game while we were recording. As a Philadelphia 76ers fan we would have loved to ask him how he feels about the Ben Simmons/James Harden trade that happened. Obviously the biggest football game of the year was played & one by the Los Angeles Rams so we talk about that. We also talk about a heartwarming story that friend of the show Jack Kelly was involved with.

For the first time in what seems like 8 episodes Matt is finally back on the show in person. We get into talking about the story about UPenn transgender swimmer Lia Thomas. We talk about the week that was in terms of the NFL Divisional round & previewed what we thought was going to happen in the Conference Championship games. Matt busted his lip & Hoop broke his car. Talk about a variety of topics & we were even able to get former guest Jay Kenny to get out of bed & join us.

The NFL playoffs have begun & if we're being honest.......the Wild Card round was kind of a dud. Most of the games were blowouts but the divisional round is shaping up to be absolutely electric! We talk about some of the wild card action & make our picks as to who we think are going to make it to the conference championship games. We also talk about Georgia QB & National Champion Stetson Bennett's new career, how Hoop couldn't save Matthew, & the interesting way the Bills Mafia helps celebrate touchdowns for the opposing team.

The story about this past weekends NFL games should have been that longtime Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger played what seemed to be his final game at Heinz Field in front of the Pittsburgh fans on Monday. Unfortunately the thing that has been talked about more than that is the fact that former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown absolutely lost his mind during what turned out to be his final game with Tampa. He surely gave the fans at Metlife Stadium a show that will be talked about for at least the next couple days.

Urban Meyer has had a bad 2021 & it resulted in him losing his job as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars & you can always count on Rex Ryan to throw a little extra dirt on someone's grave. Kenny Pickett's fake slide touchdown run resulted in an NCAA rule change. We all have a favorite Christmas movie & so do we which we reveal & what would Christmas Day be without the NBA & a little wager amongst podcast hosts.
