  • What Separates Christian Network Marketers From The Rest Of The Industry?

Today I want to talk about what separates Christian network marketers from the rest of the community.  This question was posted in our Facebook group, and I wanted to share with you my thoughts on this question.

So here are the 5 things that I think separate Christian network marketers from the network marketing industry:

    1. Prayer and Praise – 1 Thess 5:16-18 (ESV)  Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
We are grateful, give thanks, and pray without ceasing – customers, team, health of our business, clarity, wisdom, divine appointments, be an answer to other prayers.
    2. Wisdom
I am a huge Proverbs fan, especially when it comes to business.  If we just did the things in Proverbs and approached our business in that way, how much more effective would we be in our business?  As Christians, we have God, who is the source of all wisdom, and we should be tapping into that.
    3. Love – 1 Corinthians 13:1-3  If I speak in tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or clanging cymbal.  And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.  If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is what separates us from the rest of the industry.
    4. Excellence – Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
What kind of carpenter do you think Jesus was?  Was He a haphazard? Or was He excellent?  So many professionals in the Bible do excellent work.
    5. Faith – Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
When I left my well-paying corporate job to start my coaching business, a friend said, “Wow, that’s a lot of faith.”  It is our faith in what we know God is calling us to do that separates us from the rest of the industry.

If you would like to see my notes on this to review on your own, join our Facebook group and post that you’d like a copy, and I’ll get them to you soon.  Or if you’d like to share what you think separate Christian network marketers from the rest of the industry, please join our Facebook group and continue the conversation.

  • We Can’t Always Wait For the Seas To Part with Jenna Larson

“The seas are never going to part without me taking that first step.”

Today I have an interview with my friend Jenna, who is a performance coach for network marketers, and we talked about how God is working in her business.  Here are some highlights of their conversation. Be sure to watch the entire interview below.

First of all, Jenna recognizes that God is her business.  Jenna wouldn’t have a business if it was not for God’s direction every single day.  Before she started her business, she heard God tell her that she is going to leave her job and start a business before she knew what she was going to do.  She didn’t think she would ever leave her job that was very comfortable, flexible, and something she was good at. It never made sense to leave her job.

God continued to knock and say, “You’re going to quit,” but I said...to God…”Please don’t talk to me.”  Weird and maybe bad thing to say to God, but I kept saying to Him, “No, I’m good, I’m good.”

    She continues:

-I eventually said yes, though, and I could have never imagined what has happened happening.

-I ask Him every day, “What do I need to say and do to serve the people who have hired me?  How do I need to show up for them?” He gave me the talent and the platform, and it is not on my shoulders.  He guides me.

Who do you meet in this business?

-I decided early on that I would wear my love for the Lord on my sleeve.  This has attracted a lot of Christians into my business, and soon after speaking to people I am meeting for the first time it is obvious that God has put us on the call for a reason.

-In talking to people at my corporate job who ask me what is the best thing about my coaching job, I get to tell them about the connections with the people who have come into my life that I wouldn’t have been able to make otherwise.

“Let me make sure everything is safe and secure.”  How has that shifted for you?

-I have OCD for real, so I try and control everything.  That is what I teach: how to have a guarantee in your business.  I need to know it is going to work.

-The seas are never going to part without me taking that first step.

-While going through the Draw the Circle prayer challenge, I have learned that you have to get your feet wet.

-I have God telling me what to do, so it doesn’t matter, I don’t have to worry.

-Success may not financial success, or flexibility in my work.  Success has looked like connections with my clients that I wouldn’t have had otherwise.

-Life is so much different when you are living it through His vision for you, versus your vision.

-He clearly has been planning this my entire life, but I just didn’t know it.

Putting on your performance coaching hat, what is one practical tip on how to have a more profitable or thriving business?

-Be organized in your business.  Have a plan so you know what to do.

-Overwhelm can be solved with a step-by-step process that you rinse and repeat every single time.  This will allow you to be super and effective with your time. This will give you time freedom and flexibility that got you in your business in the first place.

-Unpack what you do that you don’t even realize that you do, get in a step-by-step or checklist format, so that you can rinse and repeat your work, AND you can give that to your team to do as well.

-If you’re not sure how to do it, I guarantee your team doesn’t know how to do it either.

Thanks for reading today’s interview.  We hope this is an encouragement to you.  Remember to watch the entire interview below.

Join us in our Facebook group to continue the conversation and share how God is working in your business.

  • How God Is Working In Carmen Busch’s Business

“It is ok for people to see the mistakes I make because they will also make mistakes, and it makes you more relatable when they see you.”

Do you have a hard time carrying the burden of leading your team on your shoulders?  Are you afraid to make a mistake as a leader or influencer?

Today, I have an interview with one of Christian Network Marketer’s Community members, Carmen Busch, who was willing to sit in the rain and talk to me about the opportunity God has given her to use her business to be a steward.  You’ll definitely want to hear about her journey, so be sure to watch the video below.

The start of the conversation, Carmen shared a little about her background of how she got into her network marketing business, and about how God called her to into her business:

    • The way you view God is the way you view your business.  Just like any other relationship, it is going to penetrate the areas of your life.
    • God uses people who are willing.  When I heard the call, I just wanted to be used to badly by God in whatever way He saw fit.  Then I said Yes and never took it back.
    • He gave me the business, and I know it is His.  And I have to steward it well because it is a huge responsibility when He gives you a platform of thousands of people.  He amplified my voice and put me in front of thousands and thousands of people to share His message that He cares about people.

    Carmen’s principle on stewardship:

    • I have to partner and co-create with Him.  I need to show up to what He has called me to do.
    • I need to uplevel myself and shepherd my team, so I don’t ask my team to do something I am not willing to do.  I ask God, “What do I need to learn to keep shepherding them?”
    • Take the pressure off of myself to be the perfect leader, because this is God’s business, not mine.  I said, “Yes,” but I am not perfect. You are (talking to God saying He is perfect), so I keep asking for revelations from Him.
    • I give my team a big vision, and eagle-eye overhead view, but also give them small steps.

How does she feel about being an influencer?  Because the responsibility feels heavy most days.  How do you balance the weight of the responsibility without being flippant about it?

    • I do it one day at a time, and I have a lot of mentors that I surround myself with.  Being in a place of influence can be a lonely place. God presented me with an opportunity and a choice to say, “No,” but I chose to take the cup He offered because I was reminded that I serve a great God who can use me despite how little I am.  It also took some prayer from the prayer warriors around me, and that is why it is important to have people around you to pray for you and lift you up.
    • It’s never easy, though.  Whoever said changing the world is easy?!  It’s so rewarding, though!
    • I got very comfortable with having my face in the dirt and dusting myself off.  I decided to tell myself a different story – that making mistakes in front of people is ok, and it’s probably the only way.  It is ok for people to see the mistakes I make because they will also make mistakes, and it makes you more relatable when they see you.

People think that the road to success is a straight path upward.  What is the journey actually like?

    • If God has put you in a place of influence, you need to stay there with integrity.  Anyone can get success, but few people stay there with integrity.

What is one practical tip to give our audience to help them build their business with skill?

    • Planning and sticking to the plan no matter how you feel.
    • Dream bigger and show up with courage.

Last thoughts or tips for our audience?

    • Be faithful to your dream.  Don’t ignore what is in your heart.

Thanks for reading today’s highlights.  Be sure to check out the entire conversation below.  Then join us in our Facebook group to continue the conversation and share how God is working in your business.

  • How To Get More Rest

In between my coaching calls I decided to…color…?  And it actually saved me time, because I let my mind rest.

I know that may not make a lot of sense, so keep reading because I have some tips for you on how to get rest how it can help you like it did me.

My business coach for Christmas got me a coloring book…for adults, let’s be clear.  I started coloring so that I could follow Jesus’ role modeling of resting, which I read in one of the books I have on being like Him.

Resting is so important because we pour into others either as leaders or into our customers.  If we are continually pouring out, what happens when our cup becomes empty?

This happened recently during a team meeting because I was tired.  I let a comment slip out that was poorly worded and likely led to some overwhelming feelings from my team.

We are in a knowledge business where we are paid to talk, listen, and think.  If we are not resting, all these things that we do to get paid are impaired.

Even if we put in three times the effort, we can still get only half of the results if we are tired, which will impact our ability to lead.

Here are some of my thoughts that can help you get more rest:

    1. Set Boundaries for your family and team
Context switching (jumping from task to task) is dangerous.  Everytime you are interrupted on a task, you end up losing 20 minutes of brain power productivity.  You may not feel that, you may be only interrupted for just a minute, but the actual brain power of getting back into your workflow after the interruption can cause you to lose 20 minutes.

Let your family know, “Here are the times I am going to be working, and you can expect me to be done at this time,” and you jam during that time.

If it’s your team interrupting you, you can say, “Hey, I’m right in the middle of something.  Can I get back to you in 20 minutes when I’m done?”

This will help you allow your day to end when it is supposed to end.

    2. Explain access
In the case of my clients, I have one-on-one clients communicate with me via text, and I have my group coaching clients communicate with me through Facebook Messenger.  This could be helpful for you to switch your communication from one type of individual to another platform.

I also let my clients know about my context switching and that I don’t want to do that.  I let them know they can text/message me anytime, and if I don’t get back to them right away, I will get back to them as soon as I get a break.  This relieves me of the panic when I receive a text that I have to respond right away, because I have set the agreement that I will get back to them at my earliest availability.

    3. Teach your mind to rest through basic meditation
I highly recommend the app Headspace to train your mind to rest.  Meditation has been able to help me let thoughts go without getting crazy.  I have a hard time falling asleep because of all the ideas running through my mind, but, after I trained myself some basic meditation techniques, I can tell myself to just rest.

So here is how coloring helped me rest and actually saved me time.  I knew my brain needed a rest in between coaching calls. I knew I was already tired from travelling last week, and if I went from my coaching call, to doing this Facebook Live, straight into my coaching call with my coach, I would be tired, and I would likely be all over the place, which would make the call I had scheduled for 90 minutes be two hours.

Instead, I rested and did some coloring in my coloring book, let my brain rest, and my coaching call actually ended 10 minutes early.  So this actually saved me 40 minutes of time I probably would have spent rambling by resting for 10 minutes.

We know rest is important.  We know that God created the earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th, but I wanted to remind you and give you some practical tips on how you can get more rest throughout your day and inside your business so you can make adjustments on timing.

I hope that was helpful and an encouragement for you today.

  • Jesus and Prospecting

We must go to people, because Jesus went to people.

Luke 9:6 – And they departed and went through the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere. (ESV)

This verse really spoke to me when I read it recently.  I have talked before that I don’t really like to travel, but this verse and a book I have been reading, The Leadership Secrets of Jesus, gave me a new perspective.

Jesus came to save sinners, not the religious-types.  He knew His target market, and He went out to them.

Is our target market people who know they need the product or opportunity we are offering?  Or is our target market people that have no clue they need the product or opportunity we are providing?

I would argue it is the second group, because they don’t even know there is a solution to their problem, and they are able to have the best transformation and increase in relationship.  Jesus went to sinners who did not know there was a solution or redemption for their sins.

Prospecting for your business is similar in that we cannot sit and wait for our target market to find us.  We need to go to our target market so that they know there is a product or opportunity that we can provide to them.

Prospecting is all about leads, so here are some lead generation tips by breaking down some math.  It is beyond the often-heard refrain of “Just find two contacts a day.”

    • Most people need to generate 10-20 new contacts per week in order to grow the amount of network marketing customer base and business builders.
    • 10 contacts will probably lead to 2-3 appointments; 20 contacts a few more
      • Over the course a month that is the difference between 5-6 new customers and 12 or more new customers respectively
    • Combination of referrals, hosted parties (or classes, socials, or whatever your company refers to them as), vendor events or booths, social media, networking events, people you know, and businesses to distribute products.
      • All of these combined, as your skills increase, you gain ground and offer value to the community, will help you get the 10-20 contacts per week.
      • Pick 2-3 that you are the best at that align most with your talents, interest, and joy.

Focusing on this one goal of expanding your market is important for your business as well as any business.  This will help you create a sustainable business.

I hope you find these tips helpful.  Thank you for reading today’s post.

  • How To Provide Healing To Your Team

Proverbs 15:4 – A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit. (ESV)

Today I want to share this verse with you and bring you some encouragement on how you can bring some healing to your team.

It can be hard to remember, but each of us, including team members, come with a ton of baggage.

    Battle scars.

Entrepreneurs hit waves or experience setbacks.  Some entrepreneurs will quit and leave when setbacks happen. It isn’t about if setbacks are going to happen, but when they are going to happen.

You can be in pain coming out the other side of the wave.  Click here to watch the video.

Bring healing to your team by telling them:

    1. “I am proud of you.”
      1. It may seem or feel weird, but when I tell people I am proud of them, they are so happy.  People crave it and it brings healing.
    2. You accomplished ___________, but what I appreciate the most is your character.
      1. “You just hit that next rank, but what I appreciate most is your bravery, your willingness to try new things, your open mindedness and your servant attitude, and that is why I think you accomplished your goal.

I want to encourage you to leave me a comment or an emoji if you are committed to bringing some healing today to your team.  Then take some time to send a quick text or phone call to bring some healing to your team today.

Thank you for reading today’s post.  We hope this is an encouragement to you.

  • How To Grow WITH God with Bec Kovac

“Daddy, what’s the plan for this month?”

Do you feel like you know who God is, but you don’t know what He sounds like or what He is saying to you?  Have you wondered why you are going through this difficult season of life?

In this interview, Tasha and CNM Community member, Bec Kovac, discuss how God is working in Bec’s business, how she continues to grow WITH God through the tough times, and the joy of walking with God through the adventure of faith.

Here is some of what Bec shared in how God is working in her business:

    • God has been doing hard character work in my life that I didn’t expect.
    • Leadership – I would be very hard and not forgiving as soon as I flipped the “business” switch when talking to people.
    • God has been training me to lead the people He has put in front of me and how I can love them more while still holding them accountable.
    • Business has been a great training ground for the destiny and calling He has spoken into me.
    • This has grown my faith – ministry, faith-building, and God guiding me through the tough times and seasons.
    • The tough seasons have come when I felt I was the one with the great accomplishments and results I have been seeing, instead of trusting in Him to guide me and then give Him the praise and glory.
    • God doesn’t call us into anything to fail.
      • Steward the business He has called me into, and the fruit will come.
      • Walking with God is the best adventure, because you never know where He is going to send you.
        • He will help you along when it gets hard.

You will definitely want to watch and listen to the entire interview, but here is the last nugget that Bec shared:

Cultivate a secret place to commune with God – if you don’t know God when you are alone, and you don’t hear His voice, that would be my first encouragement to do.  I was a Christian who wanted to live for God, wanted to do whatever God told me, but I didn’t have intimacy with God, didn’t understand what He was saying to me. When I learned that skill, it changed my entire life.  I know when He is calling me to move forward, or when to pull back, and it is very different than the “knowledge” of God.

Thank you for reading today’s post.  We hope this is an encouragement to you.

  • How To Get Peace In Your Business with Tamara Allingham

“Leaders are born in situations where it’s either God or nothing.”

Today I have an interview with my friend and community member, Tamara, who has a network marketing business and does mindset coaching.  We have been known to talk for hours and hours, but today we tried to keep our conversation to 15 minutes. You’ll have to catch the entire conversation to find out if we hit our goal.

    I asked Tamara three questions:

    1. How is God working in your business?
    2. Can you please share some tips on public speaking since that is your zone of genius?
    3. What are your thoughts on the concept that “faith without works is dead”?

Here are some of Tamara’s answers to my questions:

The best gift God gave me, and I think, all of us is discernment.  There is an expiration to how far I can see, but there is not to how far He can see.  I’ve never regretted trusting Him when logic was telling me to go a different direction, but when I’ve been impulsive and went on baseline-logic alone, man, it bit me in the tail.

He can see things that I didn’t see.  I am glad that I allowed Him to order my steps; it’s a choice.  Let Him do that.

Discernment is confirmed through peace that brings a calm that cannot be explained.  The world can’t give us peace. It is not another emotion that can be created, it cannot be duplicated by the enemy, and it is only something that can be found in scripture from God.

Peace feels like “lightness.”  What is the difference between comfort zone?  And peace?

Comfort zone is a manmade peace that still has angst and anxiety.  Peace from God doesn’t have those things. I can create a comfort zone, but because I can create it, I can also mess it up.  I have nothing to do with heavenly peace; I am just the recipient of it, and that helps.

I think if we, those of us in business, relied more on discernment in business we would probably see less conflict and less yo-yoing.

    Transitioning to public speaking:

I feel strongly about public speaking because, when you break it down, it gives us an opportunity, since we are Christians, to stand and be a reflection of God’s goodness.  I try and remember when I am speaking that people are not seeing me, but that I am reflecting His light.

It is not about me but about me offering something to Him in front of them, and that makes it different.  This removes the idea that I am going to win or lose or fail in front of them. The audience are just spectators in a vertical moment between God and I.

Next, Tamara gives a public speaking tip that is so good, you will need to watch or listen to the entire conversation to hear it.

What else would you like to share?

Regarding faith without works, it’s easy to stand behind the thought that “God is going to build it for me.”  There is some truth to that. However, when Jesus was here on earth, He never did it all for them. He equipped people, sent them out, and was waiting for them when they came back.  We can’t wait around, do nothing, and expect Him to drop the Mother Lode in our laps.

He is going to bless you, but He is going to bless you in accordance to your faith.  God will meet you at the destination, but don’t hide behind the idea that He is going to do it all for you.

Situations like Moses faced at the Red Sea made him a leader.  He was scared but he did it anyway. Moments like that create leaders.

“Leaders are born in situations where it’s either God or nothing.”

  • Who Fills Your Cup? With Sonni Thornton

“I know it’s God because I can’t explain who else it would be,” Sonni says as she laughs.

Today, I have an interview with one of our community members and my new friend, Sonni, and we talked about how God is working in her network marketing business.  After chatting for a few minutes, we started recording and let Sonni take it away!

Sonni had a few great things to share of how God is working in her business:

God is making sure I have continual sources of personal development. There are always ups and downs, things to celebrate, things to cry about, things to pray about.

I know it’s God because I can’t explain who else it would be! (she says as she laughs )

Right when I feel like I have it all figured out, something happens that shows me how much I need God in my life, in my business, and that my success is only dependent upon Him, that I couldn’t do it on my own.

We, as Christians, need to know where our source is, our ever-flowing fountain, and who fills our cup.  Knowing this helps us remember that when things get unbelievably challenging, we have this refuge and we can get through it to bring us to a peaceful place.

And when Tasha asks Sonni to share about how her mindset shifted from an introvert to someone who can talk to just about anyone, here is how she answered:

If I treat people as a friend, how would they respond to me?

I look for common ground (maybe a product), then ask how they got there, which leads to them talking about themselves, and I just lean into that.

Connecting and caring about people and then seeing what happens – treat them like a friend, they’ll treat you like a friend, then see what happens.

The parting words of advice Sonni has for our community and everyone:

Just keep doing what you’re doing and have a smile on your face.

These are just some of the highlights.  You definitely want to check out the entire conversation by watching the video below.
