Rapp Report episode 277

How much do you really know about the Israel-Palestine conflict? Unravel the complexities of this historical and ongoing situation as Dr. Michael Brown and I journey through its roots, exploring the unique challenges it presents. Raised in a conservative Jewish home, Dr. Brown’s perspective is shaped by his personal journey to a Pentecostal charismatic faith, offering listeners a unique lens through which to examine the situation in Israel.

We start off by immersing ourselves in the history of the modern state of Israel, the Jewish people's connection to the land, and the various peoples that have lived in the area over the centuries. We then focus on the unique history of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the myths surrounding the Palestinian people and the Jewish people, breaking down misconceptions and shedding light on the realities of life in Israel. The refugee crisis in Israel is another critical area that we delve into, revealing its unique characteristics and the role of various nations in its perpetuation.

As we venture further into the current political dynamics in Israel, we unpack the controversial role of Prime Minister Netanyahu and the ethical dilemmas faced by Israel in the international arena. We also discuss the spiritual darkness surrounding the group's actions and tactics used by Hamas, shedding light on the harsh realities faced by the people of Gaza. Finally, Dr. Brown and I explore the potential for the gospel of Jesus Christ to bring unity and peace in the region. This is a conversation full of depth and insight that will leave you with a fresh perspective on the realities, misconceptions, and hopes surrounding the Israel-Palestine conflict. Don't miss it!

In continuing our study of John Locke's two treatises on government, today I finish up looking at his second treatise. The premise of Locke's version of Social Contract Theory is that, at some point in the past, everyone was completely independent and free but then explicitly consented to form a government. Locke does not explain when this meeting took place, or why it resulted in a system of majority rule for those who consented. Those who come later still have to consent, but Locke fails to point out that later generations only need to give implicit, or silent, consent. The problem with these two different forms of consent is that no serious long-term relationship can be based purely on consent, whether implicit or explicit. We see the failure of this concept in many different areas within our culture.

As always, if you have any law/government related questions, feel free to email me at [email protected], and I will be happy to address them on the program. Thank you and God bless!
