On January 16th, Pastor John MacArthur made a call to all Christian pastors in the United States to stand with our Canadian Christian brothers and sisters who will be subjected to a new law banning "Conversion Therapy" and making it punishable by 5 years of prison. MacArthur called on pastors to peacefully protest the new law by preaching biblical sexuality from the pulpit on Sunday the 16th. This particular issue brings Christian faith and LGBTQ+ activism into the spotlight yet again. In this episode, we will take a deep look into one of the primary passages that Christians typically use when debating their position on LGBTQ+ issues. As we continue our journey into the larger themes presented in Christianity Today's podcast the Rise and Fall of Mars Hill Church we take a deep dive into the development of gender roles within the church. Gender role identification played a major role in the rise of Mars Hill and was a hallmark of Mark Driscoll's discipleship plan. However, according to the reporting, there were some fatal flaws in how Driscoll approached gender that may have contributed to the pending crash. Regardless of where you go to church gender role definition shapes significant ways in which you experience church life.
