If you don’t believe me just look at what successful people do. They get up early. I’m telling you it’s a common theme, successful people get up early. There are hundreds if not thousands of quotes by famous, successful people talking about the importance of getting up early.

What does it do for you? What are the tangible benefits of getting up early?

It’s one of the not so secret, secrets to success used by just about every successful person that’s walked the planet.If you start early your more likely to finish what you start.It’s quieter, meaning you can think more clearly.And it’s setting the tone that you are a leader because when everybody else is resting you’re working.

And you’ve got to get up with a smile on your face. If you do those 2 things, get up early and wake up with a smile on your face every day and you’re going to be in the top 10%, you’re going to be doing the basic things that top performers do.

They wake up early and they have a great attitude. That’s the way you want to start your day.

Today’s Memorial Day, what does it mean, who’s it for, what’s it about? For a lot of people Memorial Day marks the beginning of summer. Barbecues, swimming, picnics, parades, family get togethers. All things that are a regular occurrence on Memorial Day.

Like a lot of holiday’s the meaning gets lost in the activities. What’s it really about? I guess you could say it’s a day of remembrance, but it’s also a day to give thanks. Thanks for what?

Thanks for the 1.3 million service men and women, Marines, Sailors, Soldiers and Airmen, the 1.3 million warriors that have died defending this nation.  1.3 million. If those men and women stood shoulder to shoulder they’d span from New York City all the way to Richmond Virginia. 1.3 million, that’s the population of San Diego.

Many of them are buried in Arlington National Cemetery. A cemetery that covers 624 acres. What’s the saying, "freedom isn’t free", and that’s the cost. 1.3 million. 624 acres.

That’s what Memorial Day is about.
