We’re excited to be back in the podcast chair again as we ring in the new year and we’ve spent the entire show this week talking through all the various things we expect to see at CES 2020 in just a few days from now. There are new Chromebooks from Samsung, ASUS and Lenovo that we expect and a few long shots we’re hoping for. Pack that on top of all the crazy other stuff that makes it to any given CES and we have a busy week ahead of us.

In this week’s episode of The Chrome Cast, we spend a good bit of time rehashing all that has changed and been added to Stadia in the month since it launched. Though it feels like it has been here longer, Stadia has only been in our hands for just over 30 days, and Google has done a good job of continuing to add features that were promised and addressing issues that have come up along the way.
We also spend a bit of time talking though the new developments in Chrome OS 79 along with the recent development that sees smart home tech giants Google, Amazon, and Apple joining forces to create the first ever smart home standards.

This week on The Chrome Cast, we spend the first half of the show discussing yet another group of new devices on the way. These new boards mostly fall in line with the things we discussed last week, so if you haven't already, catch up on episode 39 to get up to speed. These new Chromebooks mostly stay in the vein of the other 'Hatch' and 'Kukui' devices we've been tracking, but there's one real oddball in the group.
The second half of this rather-long podcast was a highlight of our 2019 Holiday Gift Guide. We've put this together for our readers to highlight the things we use personally and around the office on a daily basis. These items range anywhere from an espresso machine to the Google Home Max, but they all do their job exceptionally well, have stood the test of time, and are well worth your consideration as a great gift idea for your loved ones.

This week on The Chrome Cast, we’re discussing the absolute tidal wave of Chromebooks coming our way in 2020. We fully expect to see a few of them at CES in January and a solid portion of the rest in the weeks to follow. With devices in the ‘Hatch’ and ‘Kukui’ families dominating the scene, we’re in for more new Chromebooks than we’ve ever seen prior.
We spend a bit of time discussing Qualcomm’s probable role in all this as well with the upcoming Snapdragon 7c looking quite likely for the future of Chrome OS. Though we’ve been tracking ‘Cheza’ as the first Snapdragon-powered Chromebook for almost 2 full years, it looks like that future will give way to the Snapdragon 7c and a baseboard only known right now as ‘Trogdor’.
Finally, we pay a bit of homage to Sundar Pichai’s promotion to CEO of Alphabet and how his presence at Google throughout the years is likely responsible for the growth and longevity of Chrome OS as a whole.

On this week’s episode of the podcast, we talk quite a bit about Stadia and how some of the early hiccups with the platform have now been smoothed out. From Buddy Passes rolling out to simple fixes in the input lag, we’ve all come around on the fledgling gaming service and can confidently see a bright future in store.
We also talk quite a bit about our ongoing promotion with online retial giant Rakuten, new Chromebook perks that include Disney+ free for three months, and the craziness surrounding the Pixel Slate’s latest price slash. Is Google just positioning it as a more competitive option or is it a full liquidation of the tablet? Hope you enjoy this week’s episode!

In this week’s episode of The Chrome Cast, we are (not surprisingly) talking all about our first few days with Google Stadia. From the iffy shipping schedules to launching without getting invite codes into user’s hands, there were quite a few things that were less-than-stellar about Stadia’s grand entrance on the scene
It’s not all bad news, though, as there are some parts of the Stadia experience that are not only playable, but downright fun. Destiny 2 with a group of friends on a Chromebook simply wasn’t possible just last week, and yet that exact experience just this week sealed the deal on making us here at Chrome Unboxed firm believers in what Stadia is capable of.

This week, right in the middle of a 7-day stretch between November 12th and November 19th, we sit down to discuss the way the streaming media landscape is poised to change in massive ways during this relatively nondescript week on the calendar. With Disney+ now officially launched and Google Stadia only days away, the way we approach streaming media will be fundamentally changed over the next year, and a lot of that impact will start with these two giants getting up and running in this 7-day window.

This week on The Chrome Cast, we are joined by John R. Sowash, a seasoned, experienced expert on the world of Chrome and Chrome OS in the education sector. John’s resume speaks for itself and when it comes to educators, there’s no better point of reference than John Sowash.
Our conversation goes from current education trends to upcoming expectations in the market. We also talk a bit about the humble and accidental beginnings of Chrome OS in education and how a misstep actually led to Chromebooks in the classroom dominating the ecosystem as we see it today.
We’re excited to get to share this conversation with you this week as a bit of a departure from the normal routine and really think you’ll enjoy our time with one of the leading voices in Chrome for EDU.

On this week’s episode, we’re talking though some deeper reactions to Google’s newer hardware. From the Pixelbook Go (review is coming soon, I promise) to the Pixel 4/4XL and the new Nest Home Mini, Google’s new hardware is the type of stuff you really start to appreciate more as you use it. We’ve all been using the Pixelbook Go, the Nest Home Mini, and the Pixel 4 off and on, and there’s a bunch to talk about.

We’re now a week removed from the arrival of all the new Google Hardware for the Fall 2019 season. The show was great and now that we’ve had some time to reflect and decompress a bit, our feelings and reactions have become quite a bit more clear about all we saw at the event.
The main thoughts in this episode surround the Pixelbook Go and the Pixel 4/4XL. The Pixelbook Go has arrived in the office to pretty rave reviews by anyone who’s spent a few moments with it. We have a couple videos up already of the unboxing and the pre-review, but we can say it is easily one of the best Chromebooks of 2019 and we spend quite a bit of time explaining exactly why that is.
For the Pixel 4, however, the reception has not been good. As a matter of fact, we actually have a video coming out about this phone and why no one at Chrome Unboxed has actually ordered one yet. There’s a lot that goes into this, so stick around for the whole show and see why we’re so high on the Pixelbook Go and so ‘meh’ on the Pixel 4.
