The Bickershamgods have overrun the Chubby Wallace Golf & Hip Hop Lounge. Never the worry, the Chubby Disciples are resolute and we've wandered the desert of creativity towards a new home: The Chubby Wallace Sports & Hip Hop Lounge.
I will still be covering golf extensively but the season is winding down and I wish to cover other sports (primarily NBA) during the slow period.
I have decided to package these 4 episodes in an abridged version known as the Lil' Chubby Golf Book which will be released next Thursday. This was an emotional journey for me this past month. Countless sleepless nights wracking my brain attempting to figure out my vision for this and I don't know if I executed but I did something unique for sure. I came to realize this was my weird version of writing the book I always wanted. I just want this to live on so the game can be fixed. I did my part I feel.
I will also be releasing at some point the Chubby Golf Bushido Audiobook, inspired by Buddhist tenets back from the days of Hideyoshi.
Keep joining us for this wild ride please. I'm a weird guy but I like to challenge myself to laugh and think and cry. Jimmy V style. The weirder the better. I promise it will be worth it.
In this last episode in the old Golf & Hip Hop Lounge before we go into our Sports & Hip Hop Lounge:
I deliver my plea to the golf game to get their act together and I leave my final word on what this game means to me (0:00-12:30); profile the first African American golf course owner William Powell and his daughter Renee Powell (15:30-26:00); profile the 1st African-American to earn his PGA tour card, Charlie Sifford (26:00-35:30); profile Lee Elder, the first African-American to play in the Masters (36:00-48:30).
Lastly, we replay the live recording of the 10 Chubby Commandments to Fix Golf held at the Chubby Church of Golf. It was an emotional ceremony and I hope the warning to save this great game was heeded
Anyone on this journey, I so very much appreciate you. Truly. And deeply. Podcasts are a beautiful thing.
