As we continue looking at Joseph's reunion with his family, we begin to see signs of growth and maturity from Joseph's brothers. They are not the same men they were when they sold him into slavery. They have experienced growth. And the same signs of growth we see in them, we should also see in our spiritual journey as well.

After many years of separation, Joseph now comes face to face with his brothers who sold him into slavery. However, the tables have now turned and Joseph is in a position of power. Yet, he doesn't seek revenge or attempt to get even. Joseph shows grace. In doing so, Joseph gives us a beautiful picture of what grace looks like. And we experience this same grace in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers, then falsely accused and thrown in an Egyptian prison. But that was the past. Now, we see Joseph rising to power and becoming second only to Pharoah. While we may never experience a similar rise to power, there are many similarities between what God did for Joseph and what God will do for His followers today.

Pharoah dreams...but who will interpret those dreams? If your answer is Joseph...think again. As Scripture tells us, it is God who interprets dreams because it is God who knows the future. This week we look at the omniscience and sovereignty of God over Pharoah's future and our own.

In Genesis 40, Joseph finds himself in prison for a crime he didn't commit. While this is not where he may have wanted to be, we continue to see his strong faith on display for all to see. No, Joseph was not perfect, but he serves as an incredible example of one who remained faithful in difficult times and was used mightily by God. Let's all try to be like Joseph.

Philosophy is not enough. Tradition is not enough. Nothing else can satisfy and make you complete, only Christ. Behold Him!

The Godly example of Joseph's morality we find in Genesis 39 starkly contrasts the immorality we saw with Judah and Tamar in Genesis 38. However, resisting temptation is not always easy. Let's look at these events again and see exactly how Joseph remained faithful amid temptation.

In Genesis 39, Joseph finds himself in a less-than-desirable situation...and it continues to get worse. However, throughout his trials and tribulations, the text makes it clear that God was with Joseph. God's presence is a central theme in this chapter and reminds us all that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

After Genesis 37 ends with Joseph on his way to Egypt, we have a break in the story of Joseph. Genesis 38 recounts the immorality of Judah, one of Joseph's brothers. While this story may seem out of place, Judah's immorality highlights the morality of Joseph we will see in the next chapter. Furthermore, it is this immoral act of Judah that ultimately leads us to the Messiah. This passage also offers several important lessons for us today regarding the dangers of immoral behavior.

One truth would dramatically change our lives if we truly believed it. The truth is that sin is never in our best interest. We've seen this multiple times in Genesis and see it again with Joseph's brothers. Sin always escalates and always causes harm. However, despite our sin, God is gracious and merciful. God can bring about His will and fulfill His promises no matter what.
