Jordan Ferrier comes back on the channel to discuss with Brian his take on Romans 9. We focus primarily on the context of Romans 9, Romans in general, the state of Jewish/Gentile relationships at this time, and how this should affect our view of Romans 9. We all understand Romans 9 is weighing in on a controversy, let's make sure we know which controversy it is. Yes we do address Pharaoh, Isaac, Jacob and Esau, and God's calling.
Will brings on Jordan Ferrier to interview Father Gregory Pine, author of "Prudence: Choose Confidently, Live Boldly" and a Catholic Priest. They discuss Thomas Aquinas and Divine Simplicity. With our first Catholic Priest interview, we truly show how you can escape your echo chamber and learn from different denominations of Christianity. You can learn from people even if you disagree with them on some matters.
On March 31, 2022 The Church Split was asked to leave the Recovering Fundamentalist Podcast Network marking the end of a 13 month of affiliation. What could have been a cordial exit of friends, mixed messages were given, confusion ensued, accusations levied, and people were hurt. We took time to create this, as we wanted to show our heart and the truth. The Church Split did not nor does not desire to separate from the RFPN and there were tactics employed to make it look as though we did. Our mission has always been to unite the divided body and we feel compelled, being so closely associated with a public separation, that an episode was needed. Let the record show, this should not have been needed.
In our final installment of The Potter's Freedom by Dr. James White Brian joins Will and David. We review the last chapters: 10-14. We respond to White's on the work of Jesus and its relationship to the Will of God and man, particular redemption, irresistible grace, the "regeneration" of Paul and Lydia, and White's final thoughts on the book, Calvinism, and God.
On March 8, 2022 Julie Roys published an article about John MacArthur and GCC excommunicating/disfellowshipping a woman who had decided to leave her husband. On the surface this sounds like a simple anti-divorce stance by the church, but as the article details the husband is now in jail for aggravated child molestation, corporal injury to a child, and child abuse. We evaluate the situation, the article, and how this can be a learning experience for the church and especially church leaders. How do we properly handle Matthew 18, sin, roles of men/women in marriage, and protecting the most vulnerable among us?
Continuing Will and David Pallmann's book review of James White's book, the Potter's Freedom. In this episode they review chapters 8 and 9.
In part 2 of David and Will's review of James White's book "The Potter's Freedom" they examine Chapters 5-7. This includes dissecting the use of "all kinds of men" in the NT as well as a deep dive into John 6:44. David and Will also address the White's response to the first episode of this review on the Dividing Line.
Will brings on David Pallmann live to discuss James White's Book "The Potter's Freedom". They review the first 4 chapters of the book and interact with the audience.
Jordan Ferrier, author of "Calvin & C. S. Lewis: Solving the Riddle of the Reformation", and one of our admins of "The Church Split Apologetics" comes on The Church Split to discuss his book, philosophy, and how our modern theological systematics are tied to several Greek philosophers. Jordan dives into the problem of evil and its significance in our understanding the nature of God and His will.
The Church Split welcomes Bradley Vazquez, Seamus McGowen, Jeremiah Short, and Noel Roberts to debate the topic of Torah observance by today's Christians. Bradley and Seamus took the affirmative and Jeremiah and Noel took the negative. In this lively debate, we included plenty of time for open debate between the parties and entertained numerous questions from the audience. This was live streamed on YouTube on 1/31/22 on The Church Split.
