Ron Wallace discusses the expectation of the church concerning the second coming of Jesus. The expectation of the church was – and is – NOT that Christ can return at any moment!  It is the FACT that Christ will indeed come again, but only according to the wisdom and timing of the plan of God.  Jesus taught that there are things that must happen before He comes back.  And UNTIL He returns and takes us to Himself, we are to proclaim the gospel message throughout the world, waiting with patience for the fulfillment of His promise.
