Dr. Alan Kurschner explained why Matthew 24:5 has not been fulfilled as preterists claim. This is a key prophecy from Jesus' Olivet Discourse that is deeply problematic for preterist interpreters.

“For many (πολλοὶ) will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will mislead many” (Matt 24:5)

Preterists assume that there was a proliferation of messianic pretenders between the time of Christ and the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70.

In fact, the historical documentation reveals, mostly from Josephus, that there were only two messianic pretenders during this time. A far cry from "many" (πολλοὶ).

Dr. Alan Kurschner explained Jesus's reply to his disciples's question about the sign to his Second Parousia (i.e. coming) and the end of the age. Jesus warned that there would be false signs from false messianic claimants. Jesus—the Son of Man—described that his return will be unmistakable and universal, using poignant imagery and a proverb. In essence, Jesus was teaching that the sign would be himself in all his radiant and brilliant glory. The sign would be situated by the backdrop of the celestial disturbances darkening the luminaries to accentuate the glorious return. Dr. Alan Kurschner talked about a new preterist view called "Satan's Little Season."

It is an amalgam of post-apocalyptic eschatology and Tartarian and Mud Flood conspiracy theories. This new breed of preterists believe that Jesus already physically returned to earth in AD 70 and the physical resurrection already occurred at that time, followed by the earthly millennial kingdom which was completed. So we are all now living during "Satan's Little Season," while Jesus and the saints are in the North Pole hidden away.

The church age is entirely over, and we are waiting for that final Gog-Magog battle of Rev 20:8, at which time we will be taken up to heaven where Jesus will destroy the entire world and then we will live in heaven forever. At least, that seems to be the main version of SLS.

Dr. Alan Kurschner critiqued the most common Amillennial argument in the book of Revelation using Greg Beale's restated argument from William Hendricksen. Amillennialists believe that Revelation 20:1–6 recapitulates Revelation 12:7–11 as occurring during the interadvent period. Beale proposes seven parallels that he thinks make this argument (see the Table below). Dr. Kurschner criticizes each supposed parallel one by one and demonstrates that not only are these not viable parallels, but they instead argue for progression.
