Dr. Alan Kurschner responded to a common proof text of supersessionism (aka replacement theology).

They teach that because 1 Peter 2:9-10 contains Old Testament references that were originally applied to Israel, they should now be re-interpreted to be replaced by the Church being the "New Israel." And consequently, they infer that God no longer has a future program for ethnic, national Israel.

But is this what the context of 1 Peter teaches? A fundamental question is who is the "you" in our target passage?

Dr. Kurschner explains how it refers to Jewish believers, not the Church as a whole, including Gentiles. Listen to find out the reasons why this is the case.

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” (1 Pet 2:9–10)

Dr. Alan Kurschner started by reminding us of the upcoming Minnesota Bible Prophecy Conference.

He then explained that the early Church affirmed Jesus's teaching that the Church would face the persecution of the Antichrist before the return of Jesus and the resurrection.

The earliest Church document outside the New Testament—the Didache—establishes this point.

The core teaching of prewrath goes back to apostolic times, teaching that the Antichrist's persecution against the Church must happen before the return of Jesus.

Dr. Alan Kurschner alerted listeners that today is the last day for a hotel block room discount for the upcoming Minnesota Bible Prophecy Conference on the Battle of Armageddon.

Dr. Alan Kurschner explained why Matthew 24:5 has not been fulfilled as preterists claim. This is a key prophecy from Jesus' Olivet Discourse that is deeply problematic for preterist interpreters.

“For many (πολλοὶ) will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will mislead many” (Matt 24:5)

Preterists assume that there was a proliferation of messianic pretenders between the time of Christ and the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70.

In fact, the historical documentation reveals, mostly from Josephus, that there were only two messianic pretenders during this time. A far cry from "many" (πολλοὶ).

Dr. Alan Kurschner explained Jesus's reply to his disciples's question about the sign to his Second Parousia (i.e. coming) and the end of the age. Jesus warned that there would be false signs from false messianic claimants. Jesus—the Son of Man—described that his return will be unmistakable and universal, using poignant imagery and a proverb. In essence, Jesus was teaching that the sign would be himself in all his radiant and brilliant glory. The sign would be situated by the backdrop of the celestial disturbances darkening the luminaries to accentuate the glorious return. I concluded with a couple of contrasts that the second coming will have with the first coming. Listen to find out what those will be!

Janet Willis, the female "Randy Alcorn," makes new arguments that the New Jerusalem, New Heavens, and New Earth will be established at the beginning of the millennium.
