In the face of the recent devastating flooding along our eastern coast - now is not the time for penny-pinching!

Not only do we need massive and prompt relief for the flood victims, it’s time we implement large-scale projects to prevent flooding in the future. More dams must be built and the height of existing dams needs to be raised. Surely we can do better than hastily constructed temporary fixes! We can end the bickering over funding for these projects by creating a new national bank.

Nuclear power is the safest, cleanest, and most reliable form of electricity known to humankind. Whether you are concerned about radiation exposure, environment impact or the safety of reactors, the record of decades of nuclear power use conclusively demonstrates that the technology beats out all alternative forms of power generation.

Now with economic crises building on every front, from increasing signs of impending financial crash, to fires/floods wiping out whole towns and infrastructure, the War in the Ukraine leading to unstable energy prices (not to mention economic drain on countries involved in the fighting), there has never been a more urgent impetus to modernise and rethink the way we view economics and the essential role that nuclear power and the broader industries connected with it, must play in a renewed and expanding real economy.

It is time to lift the ban on nuclear power production in Australia.

Your deposits in the bank will NOT be safe in private banks in the next global financial crisis because of a policy known as bail-in. Bail-in means, under conditions of financial crisis, your savings and deposits in a bank will be confiscated to prop up the bank if it’s failing. However, your savings COULD be safe in a new national postal savings bank. The Citizens Party has drafted legislation to create a Commonwealth Postal Savings bank.
