  • The Citrix Session: Accelerate Your Hybrid Strategy with Citrix & Nutanix Cloud Clusters on Azure

If you haven’t picked up on the trend yet, let me just reinforce that Citrix is working overtime in 2023 to help you go all-in on your hybrid multi-cloud strategy. As we announced earlier this year, we’re significantly investing in features and solutions that provide you with the choice and flexibility to develop your environment how you want it, where you want it, and to integrate with solutions you want.

To that end, we know that many of you are leveraging or considering leveraging Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) hybrid multi-cloud software to simplify IT operations, move to the cloud faster, and lower your on-premises cost of operations. We are excited to announce official support for running Citrix DaaS and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops on Nutanix Cloud Clusters on Azure.

The Citrix plugin for NC2 on Azure is available today for early access, and is currently compatible with Citrix Machine Creation Services (MCS). Compatibility with Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS) is expected prior to general availability later this year.

While Nutanix NC2 on Azure was previously a Citrix-Ready validated solution, by providing official Citrix support, we’re ensuring customers can move forward with their hybrid multi-cloud deployment plans, and be confident that they’ll have a great support experience if they run into any issues along the way.

Azure support for NC2 comes as a significant extension to previously announced support for Nutanix Cloud Clusters on AWS – a capability shown to help you burst 2,000 Citrix Desktops to AWS in under two hours as opposed to days or weeks!

  • The Citrix Session: Citrix Secure Private Access On-Premises — Announcing General Availability

As organizations embark on adopting zero trust network access (ZTNA) solutions, they often desire the flexibility of a hybrid strategy with the choice to use a mix of SaaS-based and / or customer-managed solutions to best suit their needs. Particularly organizations with closed networks, highly regulated environments, and / or strict data & privacy controls continue to prefer an on-premises solution while leveraging a vendor-operated cloud-based solution where it makes sense without compromising security and end-user experience outcomes.

One year ago, we launched Citrix Secure Private Access service — a cloud-based zero trust security solution that provides comprehensive ZTNA to all IT-managed applications, a curated end-user experience through Citrix Enterprise Browser, adaptive authentication, app protection, and adaptive security controls including Remote Browser Isolation, to provide unified access and protect against data loss threats. Citrix has been a leader in delivering unified, secure, zero trust access to enterprise applications for decades. We are committed to the principles of “Never Trust, Always Verify” and have continued our innovation to meet our customers where they are in their secure access strategy.

Today, we are pleased to announce the General Availability of Secure Private Access On-Premises solution — a major milestone in our journey to deliver ZTNA as a full customer-managed on-premises solution.

  • The Citrix Session: Citrix Web Studio for On-Prem is Here!

It has only been a month since Citrix announced our strategy to support “Hybrid as the Destination”, an initiative to develop features both for on-prem and cloud customers, and already we are pleased to announce that Web Studio is now generally available for all Citrix customers! Regardless of the deployment scenarios, our customers now share the same modernized admin experience when using both Citrix DaaS and/or Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) on-prem deployments.

  • Citrix Session: Introducing the new Citrix strategy and product innovations - Part 2

Over the past few months, you may have heard about some significant changes to Citrix. Most notably, Citrix Systems went private in September of 2022 and became a business unit of Cloud Software Group.

Now, naturally you’re asking yourself, “What does this mean for me?” And honestly, that’s a fair question. After all, tech companies are restructuring and merging at a regular occurrence these days, and it often doesn’t alter much from a customer perspective.

However, in this case, Citrix going private means many positive, tangible changes are coming to our customers. With this new structure, the Citrix business unit of Cloud Software Group now has the flexibility and autonomy to focus on our core strength: providing an enterprise platform for app and desktop delivery. And that doesn’t just mean Windows apps. We’re evolving the platform itself to support and secure the growing number of enterprise web and SaaS apps critical to your business.

  • The Citrix Session: How customers and partners can apply custom branding to Citrix client apps

Customization is personal, and for enterprises it is a reflection of identity. We have been amazed by the stories of Citrix customers and partners and the lengths they’ve gone to personalize their Storefront or Workspace user interface. They love that they can tailor their workspace experience to align it with their organization’s needs. In fact, customization-related requests are among the most-asked-for enhancements for our teams at Citrix.

We’ve been listening, and thanks to your feedback and requests, we have now launched the App Personalization service for all our customers and partners. This enables you to extend your customization to Citrix clients for a truly end-to-end, personalized experience. Also, we have new enhanced capabilities so you can do even more with your in-app experience.

  • The Citrix Session: Hosting the Connector Appliance on Nutanix AHV and more

We are continuing to evolve and add capabilities to our Connector Appliance. In case you missed it, I recently published a blog post taking a closer look at the fundamentals. To summarize, the continued development of the Connector Appliance is part of an ongoing effort to reduce the on-prem footprint needed to run Citrix and related infrastructure. This effort includes minimizing and unifying the number of connectors needed. In this blog post, I wanted to look closer at where you can host the Connector Appliance and what that means for you.

The Connector Appliance is a virtual appliance that, behind the scenes, runs a custom Linux-based operating system that customers can host in the way it best suits them. With that in mind, in combination with making the Connector Appliance fit more use cases, we have also looked to increase the options available for where you can host Connector Appliances.

  • The Citrix Session: Enable mobile workstyles, empower users with Citrix Workspace App on iPad

The traditional 9-to-5 job looks a lot different today, and for many, there’s less sitting at a desk in an office building. Although some executives and employees in sales and customer success have always needed flexibility, many companies have adopted mobile and hybrid work styles for most if not all of their workforce.

What’s behind the change? The pandemic, the influx of a new generation in the workforce, and more employees who need to work on the go and stay productive, no matter where they are.

Users now expect to be able to access corporate applications on the move and at their desk, all while having access to an external monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, and audio devices. They also require a device powerful enough to deliver the performance necessary for accessing corporate applications, with a large display to perform business-critical work.

In recent years, tablet devices such as iPads have become more prevalent in the enterprise because of their convenience and larger screens. Apple’s newest tablets offer displays that are nearly 13-inches, and they are much lighter compared to laptops. They also come equipped with a powerful processor and memory to deliver high performance.

When combined with Citrix Workspace app, users can access their Windows-based apps and desktops on the device, providing enterprise capabilities with a great user experience. With external monitor, keyboard and mouse supported; users can truly transform their iPads with Citrix Workspace app into a full-scale workstation. Read more about it here.

  • The Citrix Session: The right start to architecting an efficient DaaS environment

Organizations running VDI must always keep front of mind multiple moving parts including many backend systems, dependencies on different services, coordination with multiple teams, and multi-fold expectations from stakeholders. Managing these elements can take away from the primary goal of organizations to create seamless and high-performance hybrid-work environments. How can we make our businesses as productive and efficient as possible? A purpose-built, DaaS architecture that fits the needs of business and technology could be the answer.
