  • E 10 Dr. Coco Novak - all about her life changing three pillars; her career pivots: from a geneticist to tennis coach to author & podcaster. All about parenting

Tuesday Talks - Dr. Kathrine Bejanyan is back! This time she interviews Dr. Coco Novak - an insight into Coco's book 'Single, and too tired to mingle. On relationships. With ourselves, our exes, our kids and other important beings.'

Parenting - the hardest job on the world! Parenting boys, relationship breakup, finding your purpose, attachment to things - Coco Novak shares her life story. An important message - you cannot parent two kids the same way. You cannot parent children based on your own character, but the child's character. This is the ultimate challenge! Attachment - why are we so attached to things?

Why can't we move on when relationships, or jobs don't serve us anymore. Are we so attached to a relationship that we're willing to sacrifice our life for it, even if we're unhappy? Why do people stay in jobs that are not good for them anymore? Fear of failure?

Coco says 'there's no such thing as failure!' Just try again. Or maybe that thing just wasn't for you and your focus should be elsewhere. Single, and too tired to mingle -

CHAPTER SYNOPSIS 1. The three pillars – Being unhappy was not an option: Was it my work, my kids, or the relationship with my partner? What I did to monitor life satisfaction.

    2. On relationships (or the necessity of being in one) – Why does it seem socially important for us to be in a relationship? Are people in relationships happier than singletons?

    3. On parenting – Easier in theory than in practice: To have kids or not to have kids? How (not) to treat kids during a divorce or split.

    4. On raising boys (mostly) – The joys and challenges of boys: Why do we call girls princesses, but so easily punish boys? Let's have a great relationship with our sons!

    5. On single motherhood – The often-underappreciated role of mothers globally: From the Roe vs Wade fiasco to 'pro-life' advocates. Single parents must be supported.

    6. On exes having kids with another partner – Having our ego in check is a challenge we must overcome: The importance of healthy co-parenting, despite its difficulties.

    7. On parents – What should be our most positive influence in life, sometimes isn't: A guide to different parenting styles.

    8. On siblings – Raised to be in rivalry with my siblings: A sad journey with my sister, the unusual tale of my brother, and the relationship with my own two kids.

    9. On my favourite men (and a girl) – A retrospective and a Thank You to the favourite men in my life who have been my anchor. And a bit about a girl.

  • E9 Dr. Ricky Arenson - Biology of men and women - what makes relationships last

Tuesday Talks - Dr. Ricky Arenson shares his views on the biology of sexes. What makes our relationships last and what makes our relationships happy. Men and women depend on each other for survival and the continuation of the human race. Heterosexual relationships make up the majority of relationships - media currently seems to want to destroy the notion of a happy heterosexual couple as a basic unit - which it still predominantly is. Hollywood love - Hollywood shows unrealistic expectations of love and sex. Children learn from movies and movies are not an accurate depiction of what sex and relationships are like.

  • E2: Dr. Katherine Bejanyan - Specialising in cross-cultural romantic relationships & relationships in general

Tuesday Talks: Relationships/Couples: We’ve been taught that as long as two people really love each other, they can overcome anything. The important part is finding love, the rest will fall into place. The truth is that even happy couples disagree on most things and experience conflict and challenges. It's how you handle the challenges that will determine whether you grow closer together and strengthen the love in the relationship or start to break apart.

Dating/Singles: This idea that there is a ‘right person’ for everyone has created doubt in too many relationships and lead to many breakups. Often we believe the hard part is finding our true love but once we do, the relationship will naturally fall into place If there is conflict, we worry, it must be because we’re not with ‘the right person’. In reality, we need more than just chemistry, that's the easy part. We also need compatibility, compromise and commitment to make things work.

Relationships, like most things in life, require skill and understanding. While it is true that forming a romantic connection is natural experience, how to make sure the person you are with is the right one for you, how to make your relationship happy, successful and full of love requires a conscious understanding on your part.

  • E3: Nevine Coutry - On divorce, single motherhood and creating a dating app for single parents

Tuesday Talks: Nevine says: 'The idea of online dating has always been quite daunting for me. Maybe it is because of the fear of rejection, of not being “attractive enough” for someone and being made to feel like that, simply by a swipe of a finger. Or, maybe it’s the fear of a date going really wrong. But what makes it increasingly daunting is the fact that I am a single parent.

Here’s what goes through my head when I nervously agree to meet someone: “Will they freak out when they find out I have kids? Are they just looking for fun and to try to get me in bed? Will they not ‘get it’ when I can’t be spontaneous and pack up for a day trip to the country unannounced?”

Half the time, I just avoid it all together, and hope that I will one day have that magical chance encounter with my future life partner; the magical “meet cute”. After all, It does happen and it can happen – but seemingly, only for a very lucky few.'
