Cryptocurrency has grown from an idea first promoted in 2008 to a multi trillion dollar industry. But recently, an exchange seen as one of the keystones of this brave new world of investment, FTX, has collapsed. Its downfall has triggered steep losses for investors, as well as soul searching and renewed calls for regulation.
