This week we tried to watch the second Thor movie, The Dark World. It came out in 2013 and features the return of all our favorite Asgardians. Their home realm is in peril yet again, this time by the ancient Dark Elves. We are also introduced to both the 3rd Infinity Stone, as well as the namesake of the podcast in this one.

It came out in 2013 and follows Tony and Pepper in the aftermath of the Battle of New York. We get to see some new Iron Man suits, a rebranded War Machine, and Pepper dons a suit for the first time. We also get to see some fire breathing folks.

This one came out in 2012 and it features our heroes on screen together for the first time as they battle it out with Loki and the Chitauri in the Battle of New York.

Let us know!We were going to wait until we got to Endgame organically, but given that it’s a huge end cap to 22 movies, we wanted to give our first impressions before really putting it into context with what we’re doing with the show. We’ll still go through it again when the time comes, though.
LinksThor came out in 2011 and was the film that brought the Asgardian into the MCU fold. This hero is a bit different because he’s an actual god, rather than a souped-up human. We also get introduced to the God of Mischief Loki, the Allfather Odin, and in one uncredited scene, Hawkeye. Thor, at least in terms of the MCU, is the only hero who has a long tradition, outside of pop culture, reaching all the way back to the Viking age.
LinksIron Man 2 came out in 2010. This was the film that introduced us to War Machine and Black Widow. Continuing 6 months after the events of the first Iron Man, this film was an exploration of Tony Stark’s inability to deal with coming out as Iron Man, and being the world’s peacekeeper.
LinksThe Incredible Hulk came out like a month after the first Iron Man in 2008 as the second movie in the MCU. This one is a bit weird because it was a sequel/reboot of Eric Bana’s 2003 Hulk movie, which is not part of the MCU. And even though Ed Norton has an extremely accomplished career, he’s the only actor, playing a major character outside of Terrance Howard, that was Thanosed from the MCU.

Even though other films had come out of Marvel Studios previously, this was the film that kicked off the MCU as we know it. This film also serves as an origin story for the MCU’s version of Iron Man. You could also say that this movie sort of reignited Robert Downey Jr’s career.
LinksCaptain America: The First Avenger came out in 2011 as the 5th film in the MCU, but since almost all the film happens in the 40s, it’d technically be considered 1st chronologically. The movie follows the story of the Human Torch, sorry Captain America, in his journey from frail weakling to the super soldier who goes around punching Nazis.
