The Come Up Show episodes

  • Classified on finances, state of music and attention spans

It’s only right that our 200th episode of The Come Up Show Podcast is with Classified. We’ve known each other for over 10+ years, and I’ve lost count of how many times he’s appeared on The Come Up Show. Classified has a storied career, he’s been doing music for over 20 years, while he has done shows overseas, Classified tours mostly in Canada, and he established a very comfortable life for himself. I appreciate this conversation because we talked a lot about finances, investments and how to manage your money as an artist. We also talked about the state of music, attention today and so much more.

P.S. The Come Up Show put together a concert as part of JUNOfest that was a blast. Check out our pictures from the 2019 Juno Awards in London, Ontario on our Instagram.

  • TOBi: You have to ask yourself, why am I doing this?

My special guest today goes by the name of TOBi, who I’m humbled to have on The Come Up Show podcast. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation, it gave me life and clarity about TOBi's thought process, his insight and he's well read. As many prolific readers are, TOBi can spit them bars, you might have seen his freestyle battle against Tory Lanez go viral, which he feels was a lifetime ago.

In our conversation we talked about how you have to be comfortable with plateauing, there are going to be periods where you feel like there is no growth. During those times, you might feel disheartened, TOBi usually asks himself "Why am I doing this?" it's a great reminder of why he chose his path that I related with. There are a lot of gems in this interview that I know you'll enjoy.

TOBI is performing at our JUNOfest concert this Saturday, March 16 in London, Ontario. Get your tickets http://bit.ly/2Uwls0D

  • NBDY: On the importance of knowing who you are as an artist

My special guest on The Come Up Show podcast is NBDY, an artist from New Jersey who comes from a family of musicians. We talked about what it’s like to be signed to Arista Records a label home to Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin.

We talked about the importance of knowing who you are as an artist and how that is going to inform how you present yourself.

"The art represents your brand and who you are. A real artist makes the audience think.

It goes way deeper than just what you see now, A real artist doesn’t tell their audience what to think. They let their audience think for themselves. Once I grasped that concept, it was really easy. I know what I like, I know what I don’t. I know how I want to be seen and how to interact and it worked out for me."

All that and more in our conversation with NBDY on The Come Up Show.

  • The Best of 2018- Part 1

I love the best of podcasts because it’s a great recap that gives you a look into the exciting conversations we’ve had. Some you may have missed, some you may want to hear again. When I look at the guests we’ve had in 2018, I realized it’s REALLY Canadian. Over 90% of our guests are from Toronto, and that’s because I want to capture this time in history. I want to get into the state of mind of our artists. The cool thing about that is while Toronto is our number 1 audience, we have more listeners from the United States as a whole, and I think it's beautiful. I’m breaking down the interviews into part 1 and part 2, without further ado Part 1 of the best of 2018 on The Come Up Show podcast. Let’s go!

Part 1 features Langston Francis, Cadence Weapon, Trish, Beatchild, Matthew Progress, Jordon Manswell, Cola, Tasha The Amazon x Danthrax,Tone Mason, Christian "King" Combs, Zaki Ibrahim, Kayo Guevarra, Francisgotheat, Tre Mission, Nate Husser.
