He starts off by talking about the role of doubt at Community. There is a stigma behind doubt and Jon advocates and welcomes it as part of the journey for people in the faith. It is important to have discussions and ask questions.

Jon is also a part of Alpha. Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, which allows questions to be asked. He says these courses allow people to articulate doubts, convictions, and simply ask questions.

Eric shares his story on how he was initially brought into the creative arts world, and how it turned into his ministry. He understands the healthy balance of creativity and leading the church, and shares his methods in maintaining that balance. 

Eric co-wrote a book with Dave and Jon Ferguson called “The Big Idea: Aligning the Ministries of Your Church through Creative Collaboration”. The book can energize a church staff and bring alignment and focus to many diverse church ministries. We are privileged to be joined by Pastor Ron Heitman from Evangel Assembly of God in Hanover Park. He starts by talking about his history in ministry and how he came to be a church leader. Evangel Church is remarkably diverse, with 55+ nations represented on 2 campuses. He also touches on the stigma of Assemblies of God. How are they viewed?

Ron has had substantial experiences with miracles first-hand. A family in a third-world country received where his parents were working received an envelope from a mysterious “Mary Smith”. It contained money and a letter of encouragement, unprovoked. Later on, his father went to meet this woman, and she miraculously knew his name and his wife’s name.

Ian’s college friend and the Creative Arts Pastor at First Baptist Church in Elgin, Joshua Hoegh joins us. He talks about his upbringing in music, specifically on the piano. He shares his introversion and how it sometimes juxtaposes his role as a worship leader. He and his wife Melissa live in a dorm at Judson, as she is a resident director; which is also an ironic situation for an introvert. 

He is speaking at the FILO Chicago event in May on Scenic Design on a Dime. He wants to create a good balance with being creative in the church while working in the gospel.
