I had the pleasure of listening to Brian Buffini at Dave Ramsey, and wow, if you don't know who this man is, you need to. He has gathered stories from immigrants who landed in the US with basically nothing and came to be wildly successful. And it all boils down to this: It doesn't matter where you were born, who your parents are, or what you were born with. That's not what makes you successful. Brian shares the common traits of the successful, and boy, these were so good.
