Genesis 26:1-11; Matthew 1:18-23 - The book of Genesis seems like a broken record at times: over and over again humans repeat their sinfulness and God repeats His faithfulness. The story of Isaac, Abraham's son, is no exception. Isaac's story shows us the choice we all make, the grace we all need, and the promise we can all get in on.

Genesis 22:1-14; Hebrews 11:17-19; Luke 2:7-11 - The story of God's test of Abraham is shocking, but extraordinarily helpful. It leads us to examine our own faith, and consider whether or not God is our greatest hope.

Genesis 15:1-6; 16:1-4; 20:1-3; 17:15-19; 18:10-15; 21:1-7; 15:7-18 - An incredible promise, a season of waiting, and a child through whom God would bless the world.

Genesis 12:1-9 - God's call on Abraham is not just to bless him and his family, but to rescue and bless the rest of humanity through him.

Genesis 11:1-9; Romans 1:18-25 - The story of the Tower of Babel reminds us that mankind's selfish ambition and love for security lures us away from making a name for God and propels us toward making a name for ourselves.

Genesis 6:5-14; 7:11-16; 8:1-2; 9:8-25 - The story of Noah and the Ark shows us that sin is worse than we think and God's grace is better than we think.

Genesis 2:15-17; 3:1-13, 24 - The biblical doctrine of sin, though often maligned and misunderstood, offers us the best explanation for what's wrong with the world. Genesis 3 shows us how sin entered the world and what its' catastrophic consequences are, and it points us towards the only hope we have for overcoming it.
