The Complete Works Podcast

You thought we'd get out of 2025 without at least one more Nicolas Cage movie? You were wrong! This time around, Nicolas Cage stars in THE CARPENTER'S SON, a film loosely based on the childhood of Jesus Christ, framed as a horror movie. Featuring Cage as Joseph (aka The Carpenter), Noah Jupe as Jesus (aka The Boy), and FKA Twigs as Mary (aka The Mother).

It's time for the Annual In-Person Episode! Mike Smith is back in New York for the holidays, meaning he and Mike D were able to meet up to record in person and talk at length about AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH, joined by podcast mainstays Kyle Cullen and Producer Collin! We also talk a little WAKE UP DEAD MAN and speculate on AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY too, while we're at it!

It's time for another Off Mike Discussions episode! This week, both Mikes have plenty of thoughts on KILL BILL: THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR. Then, Smith is talking 2025 releases like WAKE UP DEAD MAN, BUGONIA, and IF I HAD LEGS I'D KICK YOU, while Mike D is also catching up with some new stuff like ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER, FRANKENSTEIN, and PREDATOR: BADLANDS! Plus, both Mikes talk through their recent Movie Days!

It's time for the final Mike Makes Mike Watch of the year! And they're getting into the holiday spirit as Smith makes Mike D reconnect with family in Wes Anderson's THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS, while Mike D makes Smith check out John Frankenheimer's Christmas-set action thriller DEAD BANG!

It's time for Part 2 of one of the biggest Complete Works events in history, where two of our subjects are in the same movie together! Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh both return to their roles from last year's WICKED as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Madame Morrible alongside Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and more! It's time for us to talk about WICKED: FOR GOOD!

This week, we're bringing back Music Supervisor Kyle Cullen to finally fulfill something we've been saying we'd do for years... make him watch the TERMINATOR movies! You see, Kyle's never seen them, and with a new AVATAR coming out, we figured this was the perfect excuse to revisit some James Cameron favorites!

Here's a brief update about the podcast in case you missed it in our Season 4 finale episode - The Complete Works is (sort of) on hiatus until early 2026, but Mike and Mike Go to the Movies bonus episodes will continue in the meantime! Listen for details!

It's showtime, folks - we are closing the book on Roy Scheider with our Season 4 Finale Episode! In this epic four-hour discussion, Mike and Mike highlight some specialized categories, count down their Top 10 Roy Scheider performances, and then count down their Top 10 Favorite Roy Scheider movies. Plus, we have some dedicated JAWS time at the end and look ahead at the possibilities for what Season 5 could have in store!

Thanks so much to everyone who followed along with our Scheider journey this season, and don't worry - while we are taking a short break before we go into Season 5, we'll still have plenty of Mike & Mike episodes coming out in the meantime!

It's time for another Mike Makes Mike Watch! This time around, Mike D is making Smith give Ben Wheatley another shot with A FIELD IN ENGLAND, while Smith is making Mike D cross off an '80s action comedy classic, Martin Brest's MIDNIGHT RUN!

It's finally here, folks - it's time for the final film in Roy Scheider's filmography. And this is a weird case... about 16 years after Roy Scheider's death, a mysterious new project came about which uses archive footage from an unreleased 2003 movie that Scheider starred in, which means he is *technically* in this movie. But that barely scratches the surface to how strange this thing is. Featuring "performances" from Tom Sizemore, Michael Madsen, Cillian Murphy, Harvey Keitel, David Carradine, Crispin Glover, and yes, Roy Scheider, it's time to talk about ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWEIRD.
