In Christianity, disciple primarily refers to a dedicated follower of Jesus. This term is found in the New Testament only in the Gospels and Acts. In the ancient world a disciple is a follower or adherent of a teacher.  A disciple in the ancient biblical world actively imitated both the life and teaching of the master

Unforgiveness, offense, hardness of heart, fear, ignorance of God’s Word, wrong teaching
are just some of the things that weigh us down, hinder us, beset us and lead us to being entangled and ensnared by sin. These are challenges to discipleship that all believers face and if the church would be honest, every believer would know they are not alone in facing these challenges. We all face Challenges of Discipleship and we all have to make a goal of Throwing Off Every Weight.

Of all the great themes of the Bible, the teaching of Covenant is most intriguing. It is through knowledge of Covenant that we gain an assurance that God will work out his word in us. God is he who "Binds himself with an oath." It is God's oath to be faithful to keep and fulfill each and every promise given to the believer. The Covenant serves to instill in us an unswerving con¬fidence toward God. Toward our confidence in scripture, we may say: "God said it, I believe it, that settles it!" Underlying the boldness of this declaration is the fact that God not only gave his word as truth, he proved it. This he did by the giving of his Son. Covenant will enlighten us to which lengths God will go to prove the integrity of his word.

A disciple of Jesus is a follower of Jesus and an imitator of JesusAs disciples, we do our best to do what Jesus did Jesus said follow me, in fact he said, pick up your cross and follow me.
Your cross, my cross is personal to each of us,The things we have to die to, the sacrifices we're called to make, the things we give up to follow Jesus when we respond to the call He has for each of our lives.
