A reprise of Neal Waldrop's remarkable study. Neal Waldrop encountered The Urantia Book in 1973 and read it cover to cover in just four weeks. He attended Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. He had a distinguished career as a Foreign Service Officer employed by the U.S. Department of State. His service included postings in Geneva, Switzerland; Taipei, Taiwan; Hong Kong; Canberra, Australia; New York City; and Washington, D.C. Needless to say, Neal is deeply interested in the Master Seraphim who were sent by Jesus to oversee the restoration of God's plan on Earth, shortly after his ascension. He has written an amazing study on the work of these Master Angels, portrayed in Paper 114 of The Urantia Book. His study goes in depth on their purpose, methods and goals. We begin with Part I: Origins.  Among other questions we ask:  Seraphim are of origin in the Creative Mother Spirit who comes forth from The Infinite Spirit, the third member of the Trinity.  Master Seraphim are completion seraphim or angels who have attained high angelic destiny and are especially trained to meet the difficulties and to cope with the emergencies associated with the advancement of the humans like us. This reprise episode of Cosmic Citizen explored Seraphic Planetary Government. We picked up at Paper 114 §6 The Master Seraphim of Planetary Supervision and immediately moved to our first exploration of our study of  "The Unceasing Campaign of The Master Seraphim" with Neal Waldrop and Charles Olivea.  Your host Paula Thompson and cohosts Christilyn Larson and André Radatus followed Neal's lead through this remarkable study. In all the words that have ever been written or said about Jesus, his living FAITH is seldom contemplated. The Urantia Books teaches that "Jesus enjoyed a sublime and wholehearted faith in God. He experienced the ordinary ups and downs of mortal existence, but he never religiously doubted the certainty of God's watchcare and guidance. ... His faith was neither traditional nor merely intellectual; it was wholly personal and purely spiritual."   Further it states, "The faith of Jesus attained the purity of a child's trust. His faith was so absolute and undoubting that it responded to the charm of the contact of fellow beings and to the wonders of the universe. His sense of dependence on the divine was so complete and so confident that it yielded the joy and the assurance of absolute personal security. There was no hesitating pretense in his religious experience. In this giant intellect of the full-grown man the faith of the child reigned supreme in all matters relating to the religious consciousness. It is not strange that he once said, "Except you become as a little child, you shall not enter the kingdom." Notwithstanding that Jesus' faith was childlike, it was in no sense childish." In these tumultuous times, when there is so much doubt and despair in the world, isn't it amazing and timely to contemplate the pure and unadulterated faith of Jesus? We think so. We've covered not only the history of human prayer, the social repercussion of prayer, the ethics of prayer, the value and power of prayer but also what makes prayer effective. What is the truth about the Scriptures?" When Jesus heard the question of his bewildered apostle, he answered: "Nathaniel, you have rightly judged; I do not regard the Scriptures as do the rabbis. While they contain the best of the higher thoughts and longings of the Jewish people, they also contain much that is far from being representative of the character and teachings of the Father in heaven; wherefore must I choose from among the better teachings those truths which are to be gleaned for the gospel of the kingdom. "These writings are the work of men, some of them holy men, others not so holy. The teachings of these books represent the views and extent of enlightenment of the times in which they had their origin. This week we continue our study from Paper 91 of The Urantia Book:The Evolution of Prayer. It's amazing how much something as simple as a prayer has the power to change our perceptions. The Urantia Book says the prayer can be a sincere expression of spiritual attitude, a declaration of soul loyalty, a recital of personal devotion, an expression of thanksgiving, an avoidance of emotional tension, a prevention of conflict, an exaltation of intellection, an ennoblement of desire, a vindication of moral decision, an enrichment of thought, an invigoration of higher inclinations, a consecration of impulse, a clarification of viewpoint, a declaration of faith, a transcendental surrender of will, a sublime assertion of confidence, a revelation of courage, the proclamation of discovery, a confession of supreme devotion, the validation of consecration, a technique for the adjustment of difficulties, and the mighty mobilization of the combined soul powers to withstand all human tendencies toward selfishness, evil, and sin. The book further states that even though prayer does not change the changeless and infinite Creator, "it very often effects great and lasting changes in the one who prays in faith and confident expectation. Prayer has been the ancestor of much peace of mind, cheerfulness, calmness, courage, self-mastery, and fair-mindedness in the men and women of the evolving races." This week we'll cover at least section 3. Prayer and the Alter Ego, Section 4. Ethical Praying and Section 5. Social Repercussions of Prayer. Jesus often referred to prayer as, "just a little talk with my Father in heaven."  The Urantia Book teaches that, "The doing of the will of God is nothing more or less than an exhibition of creature willingness to share the inner life with God—with the very God who has made such a creature life of inner meaning-value possible."
