The Cosmic Citizen

The original concept for UrantiaUniversity envisioned an online school that would offer a step-by-step, comprehensive personal study program of each paper in The Urantia Book with opportunities for person-to-person contact and collective study.  In the fall of 2009 a Board of Trustees formed to initiate the process of incorporating UrantiaUniversity and to develop and solidify the legal, educational and technological foundation of the organization. Before long, UrantiaUniversity, Inc. was officially incorporated as a nonprofit organization, exempt from Federal income tax under section 503(c)(3). The vision of UrantiaUniversity, Inc. has since evolved to not only help serious students to explore, discern, and actualize the cosmic truth and knowledge in The Urantia Book, but also to encourage research and study in the many related disciplines of science, cosmology, religion, philosophy, and the social sciences for the purpose of illuminating, augmenting and expounding the connections between the content of The Urantia Book and these fields of human knowledge. Beyond these, UrantiaUniversity’s mission is built on developing advanced philosophers, teachers and leaders with cosmic ideals who are capable of effectively meeting the challenges of the 21st century and beyond.  UrantiaUniversity recently launched their first online class: A General Introduction to The Urantia Book, by way of a thumbnail sketch, essays  to introduce The Urantia Book to the inquisitive new or veteran reader, taught by our own Andre Radatus. This first class of 50 students filled up within weeks, but this is just the beginning and there are more great classes to come. Please join us as we discuss the origins, mission and future plans of UrantiaUniversity with Andre, John and Elizabeth Callahan and other key pioneers in this unprecedented undertaking and help us celebrate this amazing milestone with them.

An Investigation into The New Testament Bible From 3 perspectives * The Biblical Worldview * The Academic/Scholastic * The Urantia Book The Gospel of John. The Gospel according to John relates much of Jesus' work in Judea and around Jerusalem which is not contained in the other records. This is the so-called Gospel according to John the son of Zebedee, and though John did not write it, he did inspire it. Since its first writing it has several times been edited to make it appear to have been written by John himself. www.godsgumshoe.org   On facebook:  Godss Gumshoe Twitter: @godsgumshoe ****   You may also like these other programs by God's Gumshoe:**** "SPIRITQUEST" is also on blogtalkradio at this address.: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/godsgumshoe/2013/04/27/spiritquest--gods-gumshoe-investigates-another-dimension And  GG's YouTube Channel is here:  http://www.youtube.com/user/godsgumshoe?feature=mhee A FULL Archive of this NT Bible series at: http://www.urantiabook.org/audio/gods-gumshoe/gg-index.html

Please join us as we wrap up our series on Prison Death Row Ministry with our guest, Bill Sadler.  He is currently ministering to death row inmates as their “Officially Approved Spiritual Advisor”.  As an ordained minister with a Doctorate of Divinity, not only does Bill have a BS in Psychology, an MA in Pastoral Studies with pastoral counseling, he also studied at St. Mary’s Catholic Seminary in Houston, immersed himself in a thorough cover to cover study of the Bible, and spent nearly 40 years in personal studies with the Urantia Book. He also worked for four years as an auditor of the work performed by newly released ex-convicts still residing in halfway houses. Bill has taken on the project of doing outreach ministry at the Polunsky Unit Maximum Security Prison (known to inmates as the worst in the Texas penal system) with over 300 death row inmates at the maximum security Prison. He has been working for the past several months with various individuals on death row, who are now also Urantia Book students. This really is a good news story about previously hopeless inmates experiencing radical transformations of love and hope, as the true nature of our Universal Father’s love and mercy is revealed to them. This show features inspiring personal stories, along with the expanding mission of Minister Bill Sadler. Support his ministry - Donations:  http://www.gofundme.com/c4rfl8

The Gospel by Luke. Luke, the physician of Antioch in Pisidia, was a gentile convert of Paul, and he wrote quite a different story of the Master's life. He began to follow Paul and learn of the life and teachings of Jesus in A.D. 47. Luke preserves much of the "grace of the Lord Jesus Christ" in his record as he gathered up these facts from Paul and others. Luke presents the Master as "the friend of publicans and sinners." He did not formulate his many notes into the Gospel until after Paul's death. He planned three books dealing with the history  but died in A.D. 90 just before he finished the second of these works, the "Acts of the Apostles." Last week we interviewed Wayland Matthew Fox, who was wrongfully convicted, spent 17 months in a Texas prison and did amazing prison ministry from the inside. This week we are thrilled to present a two week radio series with “Officially Approved Spiritual Advisor” Bill Sadler (yes, that is his name), who is currently ministering to death row inmates. Bill is an ordained minister with a Doctorate of Divinity. Not only does Bill have a BS in Psychology, an MA in Pastoral Studies with pastoral counseling, nearly 40 years personal experience with the Urantia Book and Movement, and a Doctorate of Divinity but he also cared for an aging mob member and worked for four years as an auditor of the work performed by newly released ex-convicts still residing in halfway houses. He is eminently qualified to minister to prisoners. Bill has taken on a new project doing outreach ministry at the Polunsky Unit Maximum Security Prison (known to inmates as the worst of the Texas penal system) with death row inmates at the maximum security Prison. He has been working for the past several months with various individuals and a group of death row inmates, who are also now Urantia Book students. This really is a good news story about previously hopeless inmates experiencing radical transformations of love and hope, as the true nature of our Universal Father’s love and mercy is revealed to them via the Urantia Book, and Bill. Almost all of the prisoners have spent a lot of time through their lives and in prison studying spiritual texts of different religions finding little satisfaction there to reassure or comfort them, until they found The Urantia Book. Once they start studying the Urantia Book, everything begins to change. This show features  inspiring personal stories, along with the expanding and inspiring mission of minister Rev. Bill Sadler. The Gospel of Matthew. The so-called Gospel according to Matthew is the record of the Master's life which was written for the edification of Jewish Christians. The author of this record constantly seeks to show in Jesus' life that much which he did was that "it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet.  Matthew's Gospel portrays Jesus as a son of David, picturing him as showing great respect for the law and the prophets. Have you ever been confronted by real injustice, the kind that can change your life forever? When Child Protective Services showed up at the house of Houston native Wayland Matthew Fox in March 2006, his life changed forever. Fox learned that he was being falsely accused of a horrible crime. It would be the beginning of a trial that left Fox in jail for 17 months, though there was no tangible evidence. It's a charge that Fox has always maintained was completely false, and this assertion was supported by numerous professional evaluations. He was eventually exonerated, but not before he was sentenced to 10 years in prison and his life, and family, were thrown into utter chaos. To keep his sanity Fox wrote in his journal. His appeal was eventually upheld on the grounds of prosecutorial violations during his trial and all charges were subsequently dropped, his sentence was reversed, his record expunged and Fox was freed in January 2010. His book, First in the Mind and Heart - A true story about the resilience of the human spirit, is a compilation of Fox's prison writings. It's a tale of human endurance in the face of gross injustice. It reveals the effectiveness of human love, peace and kindness and how the Spirit of God illuminates even the darkest of conditions and can soften even the hardest of hearts. Wayland Matthew Fox is a native Texan and a long time student of The Urantia Book. He has a huge extended family of friends and loved ones across the US. He spends a great deal of time writing letters to lift the spirits of the downtrodden, who find themselves incarcerated. His story is a powerful memorial of how wrongful convictions happen and the consequences they wreak. It's a story of injustice, grief and moral outrage as well as transcendence, lessons of love, service and self-forgetfulness, as taught by the Master, Jesus of Nazareth. Please join us for Matthew's amazing story!

This week on the Cosmic Citizen, Dr. Jeff Wattles will share some of the keen insights he gained after retiring last year from being a full-time professor of philosophy at Kent State University. He especially wants to share with our listeners what he has learned concerning cosmic truths about the family of God. Jeff earned a  B.A. in philosophy at Stanford University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in philosophy from Northwestern. He retired from Kent State University after a long and distinguished career as a philosophy professor and is currently writing a book on a new philosophy of living. It is a topic that he explores and blogs about regularly at the following site:  http://anewphilosophyofliving.com/  He says he realized his need to balance his philosophical and religious strengths by focusing effectively on the practical tasks of everyday material existence. Jeff admits that he also learned major spiritual lessons when he created a street ministry to share profound spiritual truth with homeless and unemployed people. He likes to expound on the great benefit and ministry of beauty and joy in our emotional lives. By the end of our show, he hopes to leave us with the inspirational story of the city of Cleveland’s Breakthrough Schools for poor minority students. And reiterate how beneficial what he learned in one of their middle schools has been to his own character growth and achievement. Jeff Wattles is a beloved teacher and scholar and this week's show promises to go deep. If you like to go deep, please join us.
