This week we continue to work our way through one of the most intriguing papers in The Urantia Book, Paper 72 - Government on a Neighboring Planet. The Urantia Book unequivocally states that we are not alone in the cosmos and that, in fact, the universe is teaming with life. It says, "The myriads of planetary systems were all made to be eventually inhabited by many different types of intelligent creatures, beings who could know God, receive the divine affection, and love him in return." The book tells us that these intelligent creatures, living on material worlds, evolve from primitive life to highly evolved civilization. Further, it says that such is God's will and God's way. The book describes in detail the milestones of these various periods of evolution. In Paper 72, the authors of the book reveal to us the workings of a government on a neighboring planet. A planetary civilization that has experienced setbacks similar to the setbacks our world has endured. Yet, one nation on this other world has been able to solve some very basic but complicated problems, not unlike the problems we have faced in the last 150 years. So far, some knowledgeable callers have helped us cover the first 5 sections of this paper, including: The Continental Nation, Political Organization, Home Life, Educational System and Industrial Organization, all crucial keys to evolving civilization on this world and all worlds. This week we hope to cover Old-age Insurance and Taxation. Do you think it might be timely and relevant? In the last few weeks we have done two shows on one of our favorite paper in The Urantia Book, Paper 72, Government on a Neighboring Planet. The authors of The Urantia Book tell us that it is most unusual for the affairs of one planet to be revealed to another. The premise is intriguing and thousands who have read this amazing document have found that it offers interesting and practical insights on how to solve problems that are inherent in evolving civilization. The authors tell us that the government of a continental nation, on this not too distant inhabited world, has made great progress in addressing the problems of: Political Organization, The Home Life, The Educational System, Industrial Organization, Old-Age Insurance, Taxation, The Special Colleges, The Plan of Universal Suffrage, Dealing with Crime, Military Preparedness, and Other Nations. We've had several experts in various fields call in and share their understanding of this material and we expect to have a few more call in this week. Last week Charles L. Olivea, a life long history teacher called to discuss education with us, comparing education in the US to techniques used on this other world. Next up is Industrial Organization. Consider this quote: "The industrial situation among this people is far from their ideals; capital and labor still have their troubles, but both are becoming adjusted to the plan of sincere co-operation. On this unique continent the workers are increasingly becoming shareholders in all industrial concerns; every intelligent laborer is slowly becoming a small capitalist." Government On A Neighboring Planet—Education, Industry, Old Age, & Taxation We continue from two weeks ago with Paper 72 §4–7 from The Urantia Book to help stimulate our imaginations and quality of thinking, offering us tools for creative problem solving.  This paper gives us a glimpse into how one "continent about the size of Australia...number[ing] about 140 million" on another planet (also enduring a rebellion and default) is dealing with similar evolutionary challenges. One reason we might be given a special dispensation to have this information is because the advantages of the more developed nation in the neighboring planet seem to be just enough ahead of where we are as a world that knowing about it can be maximally useful. Most people who are sincere about religion, eventually arrive at the conclusion, “I need to read the Bible,” or “ I need to know more about the Bible.” Readers of The Urantia Book are certainly no exception. Why?  Because, much of the information  in The Urantia Book comes from stories in The Bible. In fact, The Bible is the DNA of the Urantia Book and by understanding more of the Bible we come to a much better understanding of The Urantia Book. Conversely,  understanding the Urantia Book can make the Bible come alive, especially “the life and teachings of Jesus,” which, The Urantia Book tells us is the most important knowledge we can obtain. This Saturday on The Cosmic Citizen we launch an  investigation into The Bible with God’s Gumshoe and his trusty sidekick,  Mega Watt-son. These two ancient (well, not quite) men are both Spiritual Detectives (really experts on the Bible) who are searching high and low for TRUTH. This new series of investigations will kickoff on this week's regular episode of The Cosmic Citizen and then continue immediately after the show (for 1/2 hr) to officially launch a new show, under the CC umbrella, that will air each week for a fuller investigation into The New Testament Bible. We've had so much positive feedback on the last two shows we've decided to finish out this series on Life After Death, with the view of the ascent from the mountain top, from Paradise. Throughout history, people have yearned to know what happens to us after we die and what it's like in the life beyond. The explanation of life after death detailed in The Urantia Book builds on the truth that eternal life is a gift for all who exercise spiritual trust and faith in the eternal goodness of God. God's mercy extends to all of us. The Father of Spirits sublimely loves each of his spirit children. "There is in the mind of God a plan which embraces every creature of all his vast domains, and this plan is an eternal purpose of boundless opportunity, unlimited progress, and endless life. And the infinite treasures of such a matchless career are yours for the striving!" "The will creatures of universe upon universe have embarked upon the long, long Paradise journey, the fascinating struggle of the eternal adventure of attaining God the Father." "When the heights of perfection and eternity are attained, all the more honor to those who began at the bottom and joyfully climbed the ladder of life, round by round, and who, when they do reach the heights of glory, will have gained a personal experience which embodies an actual knowledge of every phase of life from the bottom to the top." This week we will continue our discussion on the topic of "Life After Death." In the first show on this topic we talked to our friend Dave Graves who recently lost his wife and son in a tragic accident. As a result, Dave had an amazing experience of grace through this event. It's a great show, it's in the archive and we hope you listen to it. Last week we explored further what the Urantia Book says about death and our own mortality and what to expect when we all inevitably die. We looked at life after death from the human experience, that is, from the bottom up, from this world and this life to the very next world and next life. This week, we will continue to look at the unique perspective the Urantia Book has to offer about the real "purpose" not only of life, but of the long term goals of life after death. Something the Urantia Book calls the ascension scheme or career, literally the path to Paradise. This week, Andre is back, and we will be looking at life after death not from this life up, but from the Paradise perspective down.   It should be a great show and we hope you will listen in.

Last week we talked to our friend and listener Dave Graves, who lost his wife and son in a car accident recently. They slid off of an icy road into a freezing river. Dave watched as they pulled the car out of the river and said, "I was not watching a death experience, I was watching a birth experience." What could give a person that kind of faith in the face of devastating tragedy? After Dave shared this story with Christilyn last week we thought it would be timely to devote this week's show to the concept of the afterlife. Because the Urantia Book brings such logic and clarity to both life and death we want to share what it says with our listeners. But we also want to hear your thoughts.
