The Cosmic Citizen

Investigating The New Testament The Gospels: How did they get here? The Scriptures are sacred because they present the thoughts and acts of men who were searching for God, and who in these writings left us record of their highest concepts of righteousness, truth, and holiness. Here’s a riddle:  What do Adam, Eve, Enoch, Moses, Elijah, Melchizedek, and John the Baptist have in common? Here’s a clue: “John the Revelator called them the four and twenty elders: ‘And round about the throne were four and twenty seats, and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment.’” Another?  They all made a “Supreme” difference in their lives. Cosmic Citizen continues an exploration of Seraphic Planetary Government this week. We pick up at Paper 114 §3. The Resident Governor General and continue on with §4. The Most High Observer.  Should we run out of commentary on these two intriguing sections, §5. The Planetary Government will be our next section up. Neal Waldrop and Charles Olivea will once again join your host Paula Thompson and cohosts Christilyn Larson and André Radatus for what will prove to be an intriguing discussion regarding the different roles of variously assigned members of our planet’s unseen government.  This will prove to be a fascinating context for undertaking the detailed study revisiting of §6. The Master Seraphim of Planetary Supervision in two or three weeks. We recommend that ardent truthseekers, among those who listen in, and desire to get a leg up on this study for discussion purposes, do so by visiting the following link and downloading copies of Neal Waldrop’s study guide on this rich topic: http://www.globalendeavor.net/Documents/2011-03-22_MasterSeraphim.pdf Call in to add your voice to the conversation.  Recent guests have made it a marvelous multi-faceted dialogue. Angels are among us.  Let's take some of our undeveloped ideas about them and try to understand what they are really doing for us. See you Saturday morning at 9:00 AM Pacific; noon Eastern!

This week the first hour is devoted to our guest, Diane Labrecque, President of The United Urantia Family . Diane will speak to us about the 2nd Triennial Celebration of The United Urantia Family Festival—a spiritual Urantia-family reunion which will allow us to be gathered altogether on the birthday of Joshua ben Joseph, our beloved Jesus Christ Michael! "The United Urantia Family Festival aims at creating an all-inclusive Urantia Family bonding experience among UB readers from all parts of the world." Diane will tell us all about the special venue in Yosemite National Park with the theme Celebrating Jesus’ Family, in the Presence of Angels! Many believe this to be an unprecedented gathering; “a human event heretofore on an incomparable mortal scale for Urantia. Hallelujah!” Our second hour will explore Paper 114:  Seraphic Planetary Government, for the second week.  We expect to have Neal Waldrop and Charles Olivea join us once more to take up our intriguing discussion of the nature of our planetary celestial government starting with §3. The Resident Governor General leading to an in-depth treatment of §6. The Master Seraphim of Planetary Supervision in subsequent weeks.Consider this quote we are about to encounter regarding these one-time mortals who return to Urantia: “In a way, the resident governor general represents Salvington as well as Jerusem since he acts on behalf of the twenty-four counselors, who are directly representative of Michael and Gabriel. And being a Jerusem citizen, the planetary governor can function as a spokesman for the System Sovereign.” [!] Your regular host Paula and cohosts Christilyn and André will facilitate discussion and take a call or two as usual. See you Saturday morning at 9:00 AM Pacific; noon Eastern!

“When the first governor general arrived on Urantia, concurrent with the outpouring of the Spirit of Truth, he was accompanied by twelve corps of special seraphim, Seraphington graduates, who were immediately assigned to certain special planetary services. These exalted angels are known as the master seraphim of planetary supervision and are, aside from the overcontrol of the planetary Most High observer, under the immediate direction of the resident governor general.”  [The Urantia Book 114:6.1] Today, Cosmic Citizen begins an exploration of just how we are lovingly governed and supervised on our planet.  How, with all the earthly turmoil, can we claim to be under the supervision of “master seraphim?” Is there a wise goal to the unseen loving “hand” of our celestial supervisors? “None of these angelic groups exercise direct or arbitrary control over the domains of their assignment. They cannot fully control the affairs of their respective realms of action, but they can and do so manipulate planetary conditions and so associate circumstances as favorably to influence the spheres of human activity to which they are attached.”  [TUB 114:6.8] Expect your regular host Paula and cohosts Christilyn and André to delve into this topic, well researched by guest, Neal Waldrop.  We expect a lively discussion on this topic and hope you will tune in and, perhaps, call in to add your voice to the conversation.  Recent guests have made it a marvelous multi-faceted  dialogue. Angels are among us.  Let's take some of our undeveloped ideas about them and try to understand what they are really doing for us. See you Saturday morning at 9:00 AM Pacific; noon Eastern!

For six weeks we have explored, in depth, Paper 72 of The Urantia Book, Government on a Neighboring Planet. In this series of shows we have had an in depth discussion of civilization on a nearby inhabited world. On this world there is a nation that  has been able achieve great progress through a series of ethical, vital and necessary adjustments to the basic functions of government. They have faced some of the same setbacks that our world faces, and yet, they have been able to find their balance and a way to lasting peace. So far in this series we have discussed their methods of education, political and industrial organization, home life, old age insurance, taxation and specialized education. Each of the sections we've covered have been thought provoking and have stimulated great conversations with our guests as well as in the chat room. This week we finish the last three sections and wrap this series up. The sections to be covered deal with crime, military preparedness and international policy. If you missed some of the other shows, don't worry, each section essentially presents complete ideas and can stand on its own. We hope you can join us again this week as we explore the  practical solutions to the perplexing problems of civilization that are described in this unique and amazing paper.

The Tmes of Jesus: Jesus did not come to this world during an age of spiritual decadence; at the time of his birth our planet was experiencing such a revival of spiritual thinking and religious living as it had not known in all its previous  history nor has experienced in any era since The Scriptures are sacred because they present the thoughts and acts of men who were searching for God, and who in these writings left us record of their highest concepts of righteousness, truth, and holiness. For the last several weeks we've explored one of the most fascinating papers in The Urantia Book, Paper 72, Government on a Neighboring Planet. In Paper 50, The Urantia Book states, "The progress of civilization is hardly alike on any two planets. The details of the unfoldment of mortal evolution are very different on numerous dissimilar worlds. Notwithstanding these many diversifications of planetary development along physical, intellectual, and social lines, all evolutionary spheres progress in certain well-defined directions." So far, we've explored these interesting aspects of how civilization has evolved on a nearby planet: political organization, home life, educational system, industrial organization, old age insurance and taxation. This week we cover the special colleges, universal suffrage and dealing with crime. The insights revealed in Paper 72 are relevant to the problems currently faced by the developed nations on this world. Paper 72 is practical and insightful and thus far we've had some very scholarly helpers who have called in to explore these concepts. Many thanks to historian Charles Olivea, who has contributed such depth to this discussion with his historical understanding and insights. We hope you will join us again on Saturday morning at 10 AM MDT, as we once again delve deeply into the meaning of these remarkable teachings. Humanity shall not fail!
